topamax

Avatar f tn it sounds like u have what i have. lol ur tsh is a little high. it's just my opinion but i think with those symptoms u need a little more meds. if the tsh goes down and the symptoms are still there ask for a little bit of t3. that's what i'm TRYING to do. the NORMAL range is like .45 to 4.5 or .3 to 3.0 depending on who u see. my lab goes by the first one. i feel rotten above 1.0. i gained 40 lbs over the years, only losing it taking Topamax for my migraines.
3219519 tn?1345993889 t want to do that and put anymore stress on my back. Please if someone could answer my questions that would be great. I have a few questions; 1) need to know if Topamax, that my doctor prescribed to me for weight loss will really make me lose weight, 2) How long will it take to start losing the weight, 3) does topamax require you to do alot of exercise in order for it to work? 4) what are the side effects of topamax? If anyone can answer this I would be truly grateful!
Avatar m tn So now I have to get back on the Topamax. But I hear that Topamax is terrible and it is the only one so far that works for me for mixed episodes. I get depressed and then I will feel fine and then off and on. That is not too fun to live like that. But right now about two months ago I had the liver biopsy, and it showed stage 2 and then stage 3 for bridging fibrosis. I was treated twice with intereferon. The first time the interferon was in the 90's for one year and did not work.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever responded to the original questions posted in 2010? I am curious. I have been taking 300 mg Wellbutrin and 200 mg Topamax since May 2016 and have lost approx 30lbs. I wasn't aware of the side affects and my doctor said as long as I feel fine there is no reason to run tests. I just want to make sure others are having this same significant weight loss.
Avatar f tn Topamax is for migraines
975514 tn?1324997938 I've been taking Topamax for about 2.5 months and since then noticed some issues with my left eye. Within a month of being on Topamax my left eye seemed very dry, so I thought I was suffering from allergies (which I do have). I purchased some over the counter allergy eye drops, which caused my left eye to dilate, which scared me. Being cautious, I went to see a optician for a basic check up because I know about the possible Glaucoma complication with Topamax as well.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me topamax today. I am already on amitriptylline 30mgs at bedtime for "migraines". I think my headaches are related to the chiari as dr shelat reproduced the pain when he put pressure on my head in a certain way. My current md said there is interaction between amitriptylline and topamax and also compazine which i take as needed.
Avatar f tn anyways the questions I am trying to ask is. Do I need to get off of Topamax NOW before trying to conceive or do I stay on it until I find out I am pregnant and then figure out what to do from there regarding my migraines? thank you!
Avatar f tn is anyone else on these two? I was recently diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder and the doctor put me on lexapro and topamax. I have now heard horror stories about topamax and I don't want to take it. I want to know some alternatives.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am taking Topamax for my bulimia. I have suffered with this for So so long. I was on topamax once before and it did help quite a bit, for quite awhile. For an unrelated reason, I had to stop it. I just began it again, and I have to say, I am having a hard time staring it. The side effects are much more exagerated then what I remember. Severe anxiety, depression and extreme senistivity to touch. I was to start with 50 mg a day...and increase from there. I just can't.
Avatar f tn I had severe nausea with topamax. I had to use antinausea meds In the winter hydroxozine helped and in the summer I had to use zofran.
Avatar f tn I also take a number of medications, including Topamax for migraine, blood pressure meds, Celebrex, asthma medication and diabetes medication. However I have had recurring visual disturbances that only happen at night. I get up in the middle of the night - to go to the bathroom - and the bathroom is covered in geometric patterns, like a checkered pattern or little lacework pattern. It's everywhere, the walls, tub, sink, floor. I feel like I'm tripping on something!
3144747 tn?1343049136 There are a host of other medications that have shown benefit to patients including primidone, gabapentin/pregabalin, benzodiazepenes, and some anticonvulsant drugs. Topamax is one of these anticonvulsants. Some of the adverse effects associated with topamax include paresthesias (numbness/tingling), somnolence, dizziness, and risk for kidney stones. Weight loss is also a side effect that is commonly seen.
Avatar n tn if that can cause seizures so many years later, and if that is the case, if that may change her treatment regimen. we just have so many questions, but I sooooo appreciate your response to my questions.
Avatar f tn I took Topamax for awhile trying to stop a "non-stop" headache. The side effects were bad enough for me that it was discontinued. The lack of balance and eye pain I had were what my neurologist decided were reasons to discontinue. The headache pain was as bad on Topamax as it was off Topamax, so it just wasn't the drug for me....
975514 tn?1324997938 t deal with the weight gain, bloat, and tiredness/laziness that it caused in me. Topamax which is used for severe Epilepsy and Migraines works just as well for Fibromyalgia and Neuropathic pain as Lyrica I have found. There are a couple of key things to note with the drug however: First, you must be titrated slowly (no more than 25mg per week increases) because of side effects like nervousness and insomnia, hand and foot tingling and loss of appetite.
574118 tn?1305135284 -- If I keep throwing more bags, is it OK so long it lifts me up. But suppose this doesn't lift me up in the end, but helps me to survive, is this OK as far as BP handling is concerned, i.e. should I take anything even though I can more or less handle my problems. To put it otherwise, is there a minimum dose of anything that I should take because there is a common say, BP must be tackled aggressively i.e. great doses of drugs OR is it depending on the symptoms only.
Avatar f tn I have MS and I am on Topamax. As soon as I started Topamax, (before my diagnosis) I constantly had tingling hands and feet. It is an annoying side effect of the medication, but my migraines are so bad that I figure I'll take tingling hands and feet over debilitating head pain. The medication also effects the taste of things for me, especially carbonated drinks. I am addicted to Coca-Cola and it made it taste sort of like metal. It's pretty awful. I also get EXTREMELY thirsty on it.
Avatar f tn I have suffered from migraines since my late 20's. I am now 49. I have tried any and every migrained med, some work, some don't. My doctor has just suggested topamax. Has anyone taken this? Does it work? I am also hypothyroid and take 200mcg of synthroid, will there be issues taking these two meds together? I read that one of the side effects of topamax is weight loss. This I wouldnt mind as Ive put on weight due to my hypothyroid. But, the biggest thing would not have these headaches.
358486 tn?1294776388 Does anyone else here take Topamax for the intense spasms and jerking? If so PLZ reply and let me know if it helps?...how it affects U? Avatar m tn I was on 50 mg topamax at bedtime and have recently decided to stop (per dr.)I was only on it for 10 days, but had terrible side effects. Since stopping the MEDs. the side effects are crazy! I feel all of this anxiety and I cannot sleep, I have bizarre thoughts and zero appetite. This has been going on since I stopped 2 days ago. Anyone else experience this and more importantly how many days til I feel better???
