Avatar f tn m curious as to why so many people are against the Mayo Clinic? I myself am a patient there currently undergoing diagnostics, though I received a clinical MS diagnosis upon first appointment in November, at this time my other cranial issues and viral issues are also being examined. My Neuro there was able to detect issues in one visit that other facilities could not in several other states- including Stanford Over the course off seven years.
Avatar f tn I looked it up, the stuff they refer to as topamax light is called zonegran. They said it was similar to topamax, but with less of the side effects as with topamax. No one has done the tilt table test on me....my drs really haven't done much with me. I have a blood pressure/heart rate monitor and I did it myself though. Laying down, sitting up, then standing, right? My blood pressure, which is on the low end of normal, (average 100/60) varied normally i think, as did my heart rate.
Avatar f tn Topamax, there was aconversation about it, that hair loss is a side effect is topamax doing this are the cause is taking other meds with topamax can cause this?
Avatar n tn Please google Topamax side effects or Topamax reviews and you will see many people with a lot of the same symptoms as you. Good luck to you and God Bless.
Avatar m tn Hi, From my previous posts...I was injured in a rocket explosion in Baghdad 4 months ago. I was knocked out for a few seconds and suffered a head concussion. Since coming back home, I started to have migraine like headaches along with other post mTBI symptoms (dizziness, cognative problems, etc). Anyway, my neurologist is treating me currently with 25mg Nortriptyline and 25mg Topamax at night. They have helped (more so the Topamax).
Avatar f tn I take the birth control pill Minastrin 24 Fe and for about a month now I have been taking Topamax as a mood stabilizer. I recently had unprotected sex and I read that Topamax may interfere with oral contraceptives. If I still take my birth control pill at the same time everyday, should I be protected from pregnancy?
Avatar f tn I found some literature that was published about a psychiatric patient who developed hyperthyroid while taking Topamax, but he was also on Lithium and I think that is now known to disrupt thyroid functioning if I am not mistaken? I'd still be curious to hear more stories about other people who have developed thyroid problems while taking the medication though.
Avatar m tn Hi Trudie, Topamax is a drug for Epilepsy! Epilepsy is created by over active Brain cells! Fibromyalgia is created by over active nerves! Therefore some Epilepsy medications are prescribed for Fibromyalgia as they work in the same way in which to calm the nerves. My Fiance' has been prescribed Savella, Lyrica & Cymbalta and found the side affects worse than the pain, many members on this site state the same about the side affects of the 3 drugs.
Avatar n tn I don't know your lab levels, but you are obviously hypo. I don't know why she lowered your Synthroid instead of keeping you on the higher Synthroid and gradually introducing Cytomel. My doc didn't lower my Synthroid. He started me on a low dose Cytomel, and if I need more, he will eventually raise my Cytomel. The key to getting better is to know your lab levels and become a proactive, informed patient.
1081992 tn?1389903637 from doing a websearch, it seems that the vast majority* of free MRI reviews are only for the spine. Why is that? Is it because spine MRIs are very quick and easy to read? If that is true, then why is that true? Or if instead this is somehow only about the economics of marketing for new patients, then why is that true for spine patients only? Any speculations? Also, are spine docs now using Artificial Intelligence to read spine MRIs?
Avatar f tn well I have not experienced that since starting the topamax, but have had the issue as a result of chiari b4 surgery and have had it occasionally since... I wish I could tell u more, I am just too new to the med myself and the fact we all will respond differently...

Avatar f tn I am looking for a top notch cataract surgeon. So far I have relied on patient reviews, google and yelp reviews but none seem to match. If by chance someone knows of a surgeon, please reply to this request. Thank you so much - I have postponed surgery because of extreme fear - but if I had a good surgeon I would proceed.
Avatar f tn I feel like theres no hope. Does Topamax work for this? I see a neurologist on Thursday. Hope I get some insight!
681148 tn?1437661591 It usually takes a couple weeks to work your way up to 100mg. A neurologist will usually start a patient on 25mg of topamax at first, and since that is such a low dose you probably won't notice a difference in your migraines until you work your way up to a slightly higher dose. Hope all that information helps. Let us know how your neurologist appointment goes!

Avatar n tn finally my neurologist diagnosed me with complicated migraines, and prescribed me topamax about a year and a half ago. Since then he has boosted the dosage twice, and now i actually do have headaches everyday and my back continues to hurt even though he told me i would be only taking this medicine maximum two years. The pain in my back and neck has affected me alot and gets in the way of alot of my activites. do you think the doctor is wrong? i have an appt with him on the 30th of this month.
Avatar f tn Mammo is more realistic. What I meant is that the lab tech who reviews the tissue slides knows immediately. Bear in mind that in the event of a malignancy they want to know before the patient leaves the table. A long wait generally means a good result.
Avatar f tn Hi. It is easy to figure out what the doctor ordered, and see if it was physician, pharmacy or patient error. If he prescribed twice daily, then the amount of 100 mg Seroquel pills will be 60 pills in a a bottle If it was just once daily, there will only be 30 pills in the bottle, Prescribers not only write what the name, dose, and frequency of the drug is, but also the amount that needs to be dispense. All the pharmacies keep the original script in their records.
521341 tn?1212281330 The medication has its own array of side effects and the side effects may vary from patient to patient. If this appears to persist or worsens with time, then I suggest that you have the dose modified if indicated.
1735424 tn?1357433558 I had some gastro pain a couple of weeks after vic was introduced (week 10), this resolved after a couple of weeks. HGB, Platelets, WBCs and ANC were all normal prior to tx and became quite low. Rescue drugs were necessary to keep going. I was in a trial and completed a 43 week tx 6 months ago. It was tough but ok as I pretty much expected. Good luck with your treatment, what week are you in?
471949 tn?1236904026 Hi JKJ, I have a similar case of frontal lobe epilepsy with similar pattern of seizures occurring only during sleep, a male patient, 14 years of age, who has been on oxcarbazepine i.e Trileptal ( oxrate here in India) for the last few months and we did observe disturbances in his memory. The episodes of memory disturbances increased as we increased the dose, but it wasn’t so worse as in the first instance. We already tried Tegretol (carbamazepine) for him and it didn’t work.
