I am 21 years old and have struggled with obesity since I was a kid. I am 274 lbs as of right now with high blood pressure. I want to get in shape and lose the excess fat. I dont look healthy at all and my family has a history of obesity and many health problems come with it. I want to prevent these health issues and start living/eating/working out right. There is a small portion of obese people that have serious medical conditions that cause obesity or on medication that causes it, however the majority is the reason stated above. Not only do they overeat but its horrible kinds of food. The portions served in American restaurants are sometimes can contain a day and half worth of calories of a healthy serving size for just one meal!!! Think about someone eating that way 3 times a day. No wonder obesity is an epidemic.

My husband currently takes Plavix, 81mg aspirin, Altace, Ziac, Zocor and 50mg of Topamax daily. Our current neurologist believes his original condition may be a migraine variant. Please help me – I’d be deeply appreciative of any information. Thank you.

Because I'm on 200mg of Topamax to keep my moods under control my brain has slowed down considerably. My doctor wants to put me on this brand new medication called Vvyanse. It's not avaiable here yet so I have to keep waiting for it. Anyone tried it out?

We have had 7 lumbar punctures since May 2009 when she was diagnosed. She is currently on 1500mg diamox a day and Topamax 200mg a day. Neurosurgery will not do the VP shunt due to here weight 314pounds. Peds neurology will not put her on Lasix or increase diamox. We are in the hospital every 3 -4 weeks for lumbar punctures under anesthesia and fluro. Will lasix help or do I need to take here to a adult neurologist. No one seems to have the answers.

Hey! Glad you mentioned knowing that repetitive use of painkillers casues "rebound" headaches b/c my first advice would have been to tell you about them. I'm same as you, daily headaches for 6yrs w/ migraines & burning sensations in my head. Are you seeing a neurologist or just your primary care physician? I ask b/c my neurologist has put me on two different kinds of "preventitive" RX's (in my case Lyrica in the day, Pamelor @ night).

I have suffered from migraines since my late 20's. I am now 49. I have tried any and every migrained med, some work, some don't. My doctor has just suggested topamax. Has anyone taken this? Does it work? I am also hypothyroid and take 200mcg of synthroid, will there be issues taking these two meds together? I read that one of the side effects of topamax is weight loss. This I wouldnt mind as Ive put on weight due to my hypothyroid. But, the biggest thing would not have these headaches.

Does anyone else here take Topamax for the intense spasms and jerking? If so PLZ reply and let me know if it helps?...how it affects U? If u have any better med suggestions for the intense jerking? I really need all the suggestions possible b4 I go back to the doc. Appreciate ur time....

I was on 50 mg topamax at bedtime and have recently decided to stop (per dr.)I was only on it for 10 days, but had terrible side effects. Since stopping the MEDs. the side effects are crazy! I feel all of this anxiety and I cannot sleep, I have bizarre thoughts and zero appetite. This has been going on since I stopped 2 days ago. Anyone else experience this and more importantly how many days til I feel better???

I have recently been diagnosed with basilar migraine and told to try Topamax, which I have to take over a period of months. We were hoping to have children soon, and were told I couldnt get pregnant while on this drug. What happens if we want to start trying for a baby, do I come off Topamax, and the symptoms come back? Or do I stay on it and not try for a baby for a long time???

and i have bad peripheral vision .. my doctor prescribed topamax.. i am wondering how long it would take too notice the affects???

About 1.5 yrs now I have been on Topamax. Also around that time, my thyroid started acting up. I started losing my hair, cold hands and feet, feeling very tired, bad memory etc.. Now my symptoms have escalated. My memory is to the point where I can’t even remember simple words. I am depressed all the time and can’t get out of bed during the day. Then I can’t sleep at night. I'm having a hard time separating the side affects from the Topamax and the thyroid, which got me thinking.
