Has anyone had any interactions/reactions with the drug Topamax when prescribed for BPII & OCD. My understanding from the drug handout is that it is normally prescribed for migraines, seizures and weight loss. My doc has just increased my dosage to 100mg 3x per day. I have experienced some deterioration in my eyesight however I'm not sure if that's attributed to age (hadn't had my eyes examined in 2 years) or the Topamax which I've been on a lower doze for 6 weeks.

She takes Topamax for her Chiari, she takes Amitriptaline for IBS, which is also for anti depressant. I also ordered this female libido which is all natural, but contains Maca Root. I'm trying to understand if it's in her head, or is she really having a bad interaction. I was about to call 911 last night cuz I am concerned, but she didn't want me to. So is there anyone that can tell me what it is she is having?

I have been given topamax to take.I take 40 mg citalopram.My research shows that this can cause serotonin syndrome. Please advise. My neurologist has prescribed the topamx but knows I take an SSRI.

Up until about a week ago I was on Hydrocortizone, Levoxyl, Humatrope, Enpresse (a Birth Control), and Topamax. Now last week I saw a new neuro for some seizure medicine complications and he is going to wean me off the Topamax and slowly put me on Lamictal, which I have begun, I am only on 25mg right now. Today I had a very small amount of alcohol, a mixed rum beverage, which I mixed myself, and I felt absolutley awful.

I went back to her three weeks ago to address my migraines and she prescribed me cafergot and topamax. I am already taking microgestin and ibuprofen. She also gave me shot of kanolog for my allergies. Before seeing her the only medication I had been on for three years was birth control and ibuprofen for migraines. Now I am on a whole list of things.

Has anyone tried extended release Topamax or Topiramate? It is called Trokedi XR. I am going to try it because my memory is so bad on Topamax. My neurologist said it might be better with Trokedi XR but it is very expensive. So if you can tell me before I buy it I would appreciate any feedback.

I take the synthyroid (complete thyroidectomy Dec 2008) and coumadin (DVT) at the same time and then 1 1/2 hrs later, I take topamax (migraine) and protonix (GERD). Is this enough time between each?

Amblify they took me off in January no problem. Well I am no doctor by far means. But I know what to mix with what. I was put on Topamax in January With Celexa. I also have a thyroid problem since I was 9 years old. I have had enough of all these doctors telling me things. They added Klonopin Ambian. Hello Celexa causes insomia not supposed to be mixed with other meds. Any ways my question is I have finally weagned off Celexa YAY!!! after I told my doctor I was coming off it.

I honestly have had a headache for the past 6 months. I take Imetrex everyday just so I can function. It starts in the temples and goes into the nape of my neck. I have been prescribed Nortriptylin & Verapamil to take nightly. It has eased slightly but the pain is still there. I have tries Topamax that didn't work. I am at witts end. I can't live the rest of my life with a headache. I have had MRI's & was diagnosed with Chronic Migrane Disorder. The Dr.

What help is there to stop this now. Increase topamax or what? Help these hurt and makes it very hard to deal with going to work and family life. Family doctor is doing lab work on my in about 3 wks for this when he rechecks my synthroid levels. But that can seem so far away.

i agree that it's very odd for a doc to leave the med decision up to you. i don't have epilepsy (my son does); but i've been on both of these meds. i've been on the lamotrigine for depression (it didn't work) and i currently take the topamax to control migranes. yes, topamax is also called "topastupid" and "dopamax" because i swear i loose IQ points on a daily basis. Looking at the possible interactions we should exclude Topamax, I don't think it could interfere badly with the Cymbalta even if there's a small interaction there. Indeed, Tramadol have SNRI proprieties just like Cymbalta but to a lesser extant. If the doctor prescribed those to you it's ok since serotonin syndrome is very unlike. Serotonin syndrome is a rare medical condition that rarely cause trouble. If you experience fever and agitation I would report ASAP at the ER.

i also take hormones and xanax...i read where alot of my meds have interactions...but pharmisits say its ok.............

t deal with the weight gain, bloat, and tiredness/laziness that it caused in me. Topamax which is used for severe Epilepsy and Migraines works just as well for Fibromyalgia and Neuropathic pain as Lyrica I have found. There are a couple of key things to note with the drug however: First, you must be titrated slowly (no more than 25mg per week increases) because of side effects like nervousness and insomnia, hand and foot tingling and loss of appetite.

My neurologist researched the internet with me and read blog that I had read stating other peoples interactions with Topamax and the correlation of thyroid disease during use and the disappearance of thyroid disease after stopping taking it. He found it to be a plausible idea and said that he would medically document it. I also discussed it with my pharmacist when picking up my Topamax, he had said that he heard that from other people that have been on Topamax.

I took my topamax in the daytime. With you quitting smoking and the Latuda it makes sense that you are gaining weight. I have read that Top and Latuda can have bad drug interactions and if you get too hot from exercise it can really hurt you. I was going to advise some exercise for the weight gain but if that is not an option than talk to your dr about the risks and benefits of combining these meds.

Additionally, she has prescribed Topamax for me which also seems to result in a high rate of blood clots. I am not feeling a lot of confidence in this nurse practitioner. What do you all think? Thanks for any input you may have, I really appreciate it!

I have suffered from migraines since my late 20's. I am now 49. I have tried any and every migrained med, some work, some don't. My doctor has just suggested topamax. Has anyone taken this? Does it work? I am also hypothyroid and take 200mcg of synthroid, will there be issues taking these two meds together? I read that one of the side effects of topamax is weight loss. This I wouldnt mind as Ive put on weight due to my hypothyroid. But, the biggest thing would not have these headaches.

Does anyone else here take Topamax for the intense spasms and jerking? If so PLZ reply and let me know if it helps?...how it affects U? If u have any better med suggestions for the intense jerking? I really need all the suggestions possible b4 I go back to the doc. Appreciate ur time....

I was on 50 mg topamax at bedtime and have recently decided to stop (per dr.)I was only on it for 10 days, but had terrible side effects. Since stopping the MEDs. the side effects are crazy! I feel all of this anxiety and I cannot sleep, I have bizarre thoughts and zero appetite. This has been going on since I stopped 2 days ago. Anyone else experience this and more importantly how many days til I feel better???

I have recently been diagnosed with basilar migraine and told to try Topamax, which I have to take over a period of months. We were hoping to have children soon, and were told I couldnt get pregnant while on this drug. What happens if we want to start trying for a baby, do I come off Topamax, and the symptoms come back? Or do I stay on it and not try for a baby for a long time???
