topamax

Avatar f tn Hello, I'm on my 4th day of 25mg of Topamax for fibromyalgia and interstitial cystitis pain. In 3 more days I'll go up 25 mg more.
Avatar m tn I was on 50 mg topamax at bedtime and have recently decided to stop (per dr.)I was only on it for 10 days, but had terrible side effects. Since stopping the MEDs. the side effects are crazy! I feel all of this anxiety and I cannot sleep, I have bizarre thoughts and zero appetite. This has been going on since I stopped 2 days ago. Anyone else experience this and more importantly how many days til I feel better???
Avatar m tn Hi, From my previous posts...I was injured in a rocket explosion in Baghdad 4 months ago. I was knocked out for a few seconds and suffered a head concussion. Since coming back home, I started to have migraine like headaches along with other post mTBI symptoms (dizziness, cognative problems, etc). Anyway, my neurologist is treating me currently with 25mg Nortriptyline and 25mg Topamax at night. They have helped (more so the Topamax).
Avatar f tn It is imperative that you do something about your insomnia. Insomnia can cause migraines, cluster migraines, anxiety.....and a whole host of other medical issues that you don't want to start dealing with. At least try some Melatonin, it is all natural. But, if that doesn't help then you may have to seriously consider some other sleep-aid and if you are that concerned then you can talk to your doctor about it and I'm sure he can find something that is just the right fit for you.
Avatar n tn Hello! I'm currently on Lamictal but considering changing to Topamax since this drug (topamax) more effectively treats partial seizures and migraines. What is your experience with it?
Avatar m tn So Wellbutrin used to make me sweat like a ***** in church; after I was prescribed Topamax, it stopped. Topamax inhibits sweating but I was on a 200 mg dose for migraines-I started at 25 mg but the more my dose increased the less I noticed the horrible sweats from the Wellbutrin. It is a stimulant so it will have that effect.
3547166 tn?1347814000 Has anyone with or without Depression experienced depression symptoms or thoughts of suicide as a side effect of their antiepileptic medication? This happened to me on Topamax. I was weaned off the drug quickly. my doctor is looking for something else. In the meantime I am having daily seizures.
Avatar f tn Hi there Dr perscribed me Topamax for my migraines and I am a little nervous to try them. I heard you can also lose weight with this. I quit smoking 4 weeks ago and have put on quite a bit of weight, so was wondering if you can share your experiences and side effects to see if it is worth it.
Avatar n tn I don't know if anybody else is having these type of problems with Topamax. I was put on 50mg 2 weeks ago for migraines and since then I am having some died effects that I see are common tingling in my face hands and feet, memory loss, inability to sleep. But I'm also having some other concerning problems worsening headaches, neck pain and back pain and dizziness and nausea. Are any of these symptoms going to go away or has anyone else experienced these not as common problems?
Avatar n tn I'll start from the beginning. I've suffered Insomnia for at least 10 years and have been on either Ambien or Ambien CR ever since. Some nights it works...others not so much. I'll also throw in that I've had a moderate bilateral hand tremor as long as I can remember and no doctor has ever given me a reason for it. OK, moving on. I also developed Migraines about 10 years ago and the solution was to try a parade of instant remedies (Imitrex, Relpax, etd.) of which NONE worked.
Avatar f tn I will soon be on Topamax, lamictal and wellbrutin. Going off geodon and serequel. Did well on those meds but weight gain was main issue. Im being wean off. Thanks for any comments.
Avatar f tn Hi, The affordable alternatives to Lyrica are -Neurontin ,Topamax and Cymbalta. Since you have had no relief from Topamax, you can try the other two . if still you feel no better ,please consult your neurologist to suggest an alternative.Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
Avatar m tn topamax 50mg for ulnar nerve pain and cymbalta 30mg which he swtched form my aropax (paxil) which i had taken for 13 yrs without any adverse effects. The side effects were awful from these medications. Agitation , fast heart rate, insomnia and suicidal thoughts ( i thought i was depressed before!). Now it appears that i am left with a permanent tremor in my hands and head. I also get frequent muscle twitching. Its been 4 months and they havn't eased what's the go!!!!

Avatar f tn I started topomax which caused extreme insomnia. Nothing helped, now I am on Depakote about 4 days. Still not sleeping well. My pcp did some blood work and said I was in menapause. My question is could the toxic amount of topomax casue the hormone imbalance. I also have Hep C.
Avatar f tn I believe the drug you are talking about might be actually called Topamax or Topamirate rather than Copamax. The following is an overview of what this med is used for: This drug is used to treat epilepsy in both children and adults. In many cases it can also be used as an antidepressant. In children it is also indicated for treatment of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a disorder that causes seizures and developmental delay).
Avatar n tn Hello, My psych. tried me on all of the newer atypicals, and I couldn't tolerate any of them. She talked me into giving lithium a try. I'm also working my way up to 400 mg. of Lamictal a day, but that is so expensive, I don't know if I can afford it. My questions are about lithium. I was hesitant to try it because of its reputation for causing weight gain. She started me on just 450 mg a day, and I already feel better.
Avatar f tn 23 year old female - Ive had insomnia as long as i can remember, it goes hand and hand with my anxiety/depression which im trying to treat but also very non-responsive to meds. Ive tried various sleep meds but the one i have found helpful is Seroquel. It gave me great sleep at 25mg for about a month until my body got used to it. Then I had to keep increasing, now im at 300mg!!
Avatar n tn I am a 43 healthy female. I had a gran mal seizure in 2004 where I fell backwards stiff as a board and cracked my head open on concrete. I lost all consciousness and could not tell where I was when I came to. I do not remember falling. God blessed me that day as I was about to drive my husband and 2 children home from vacation from San Antonio to Houston. I could have killed them and another driver.
Avatar m tn Hi. I'm starting generic Topamax for migraine headaches. My doctor said to start at 25mg at bedtime for the first week, then go up to 50mg the 2nd week, 75mg the 3rd week and 100mg the 4th week. All to be taken at bedtime. I've been reading up on all the side effects and I'm really scared to be taking this drug. I'm the mom of two small children. Pregnancy killed enough brain cells, I can't afford to lose anymore. I need to be present and alert for my little ones.
Avatar f tn I was having insomnia like crazy, & a Chiari patient suggested that it was the Tramadol. Sure enough. Now I take it first thing in the a.m., before I need it, & Im sleeping better (but not great). I was telling my veterinarian about it today, & he said that he was glad that I told him.

874521 tn?1424116797 I am seeing my doc next week to get Off this. I am going to try maybe Cymbalta and Topamax. I have read Good Things about Topamax. 975514 tn?1324997938 t deal with the weight gain, bloat, and tiredness/laziness that it caused in me. Topamax which is used for severe Epilepsy and Migraines works just as well for Fibromyalgia and Neuropathic pain as Lyrica I have found. There are a couple of key things to note with the drug however: First, you must be titrated slowly (no more than 25mg per week increases) because of side effects like nervousness and insomnia, hand and foot tingling and loss of appetite.
