489786 tn?1255692879 I'm freaking out. I was on 100 mg of topamax found out the fertility treatment finally worked 3 weeks into it. Then I went off the topamax.
Avatar m tn I've been taking Topamax 50mg-100mg daily and I have been also taking Yasmin. The two were told to me to be ineffective when used together, so I've been using a back up method of condoms. I'm unhappy with this so my OBGYN switched me to Zovia, which I do not like. My question is, could YAz and Topamax at 50-100mg, be taken together?
975514 tn?1324997938 I've been taking Topamax for about 2.5 months and since then noticed some issues with my left eye. Within a month of being on Topamax my left eye seemed very dry, so I thought I was suffering from allergies (which I do have). I purchased some over the counter allergy eye drops, which caused my left eye to dilate, which scared me. Being cautious, I went to see a optician for a basic check up because I know about the possible Glaucoma complication with Topamax as well.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently started me on 25mg of Topamax twice daily. I am on day two, with no relieve yet. Can anyone tell me how long it will take to see any difference? Any information would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I used to take Topamax for nerver pain, it was the only anti-seizure med that really worked well for the pain, and I had three attacks of kidney stones before I found out it was the Topamax causing them. I had to stop taking it, but was wondering if anyone else ever had this problem. I did a little research on it and in a small percentage of people it actually does do this, but my urologist only knew of one other person who took Topamax and had kidney stones.
768044 tn?1294223436 I am currently taking topamax. Before topamax I tried valproic acid and before that I tried amitriptyline. On the topamax my migraines are currently happening still 15+ a month. Hence wanting to try something else too... When I asked my neurologist about the botox, he said that I couldn't mix the topamax and botox treatments. I hadn't heard this before. He said that in the clinical trials, the people who were on a comination of treatments showed worse results.
Avatar n tn Hi, you can get lot more information on topamax at this URL http://psyweb.com/Drughtm/jsp/topomax.jsp Bye.
Avatar f tn My Husband and I are thinking about trying to start a family soon. I am on Topamax for migraines. I have been on Topamax for a few years now and it has been a big help ! When I don't take a pill the next day I can tell because I get a major Migraine and it's obviously not fun! anyways the questions I am trying to ask is.
Avatar f tn I am not sure if anyone can help me out with this but I have a friend that is on Topamax (Topiramate) for seizures and she just found out she is 7 weeks pregnant. She had been pregnant before but had a miscarriage. She is very scared because she can’t find any information on this medication to tell her if or if not this medication will hurt the baby. She has seen the OB/GYN and they told her they are not sure and she needs to speak with her Neurologists.
Avatar f tn When he prescribed the Topamax to me, my Neurologist suggested taking L-Tyrosine (an OTC amino acid) in a dosage of 500-1000mgs per day to counteract the lethargy and memory problems associated with Topamax. I took the Topamax for 3-4 days without the L-Tyrosine and was EXHAUSTED, so decided to try it. I have felt great since! I started with 500mgs and felt OK, then tried the 1000mgs and felt GREAT! So...I'd recommend it to anyone!
Avatar n tn i am just starting to take a low dose of topamax at 50mg a day and not going to increase to more than 100mg a day and i am wondering if this will interfere with my lutera pills?? i have read that it lowers the effectiveness but i have also read that it doesnt happen until you reach doses of 200mg or more. i have also heard that by increasing your birth control dose you can help the effectiveness and my doctor specifically prescribed lutera because it has a higher dosage than most BC.
Avatar f tn is anyone else on these two? I was recently diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder and the doctor put me on lexapro and topamax. I have now heard horror stories about topamax and I don't want to take it. I want to know some alternatives.
Avatar f tn Hello Iska, I am sorry you are having so many medical issues. My PCP once said to me "We have to play with the hand we are dealt, unfortunately you got a crummy hand." It sounds like you did too. Some of us have problems taking medications, I do also. I always try the medication my physician prescribes for me. I figure she knows best. I don't know much about Topamax, maybe some of our members will have more information for you.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am taking Topamax for my bulimia. I have suffered with this for So so long. I was on topamax once before and it did help quite a bit, for quite awhile. For an unrelated reason, I had to stop it. I just began it again, and I have to say, I am having a hard time staring it. The side effects are much more exagerated then what I remember. Severe anxiety, depression and extreme senistivity to touch. I was to start with 50 mg a day...and increase from there. I just can't.
681148 tn?1437661591 well, she would not be able to function at all without the topamax. The topamax gave her her life back. She still has pain and still needs to use strong pain medications for break-through pain but... without the topamax she would be completely disabled and would not be able to walk or use her hands at all. On the topamax she lives a very normal life! So, I think it is a very useful medication for chronic pain.
Avatar m tn t figure out the hearing loss and the ringing in the the right ear. So, I have been going to a Neurologist. He has me on Topamax. The migraines has quieted down but still occur. The only issues I have, is that it feels like my heart is ready to jump out of my chest. I talked with him the other day, and even though I have been on this for three months, he doesn't know if it is good to change medications.
Avatar f tn I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.
Avatar f tn I did a little better on Neurontin as far as less weight gain and less laziness, but I switched to a sister-medication known as Topamax. It is an anti-seizure medication just like Lyrica and Neurontin, but it doesn't have the same type of side effects and it helps with the nerve pain and migraines that Fibromyalgia can cause.
Avatar n tn My 17 year old son has suffered from a non-ceasing headache for over two years. We have seen doctors, been to the mayo clinic etc. We went and saw a new doctor this summer who ordered a MRV. The radiology reports states that the left sagittal sinus is either diminutive and atretic or thrombosed. Our neurologist here wants to talk to the doctor who ordered the test who happens to be on vacation. Our doctor told us it could be nothing or maybe we are getting somewhere.
Avatar f tn ve tried all three -- Neurontin, Topamax, and Cymabalta -- but after looking at the information for particularily the Cymbalta, I am wondering if I just have a med conflict. I have been taking Zoloft and Trazodone for over 14 years -- both are SSRIs and these 3 drugs all seem to affect serotonin absorption/dispersal. I am actually trying taking myself off the Lyrica right now, going down to just the Zoloft, Trazodone, and birth control.
Avatar m tn Would like to come off lyrica in favour of topamax .how to cope with pain as it will take 6 weeks to build up to 150mg topamax?i presume I must stop taking lyrica at the outset?
3144747 tn?1343049136 There are a host of other medications that have shown benefit to patients including primidone, gabapentin/pregabalin, benzodiazepenes, and some anticonvulsant drugs. Topamax is one of these anticonvulsants. Some of the adverse effects associated with topamax include paresthesias (numbness/tingling), somnolence, dizziness, and risk for kidney stones. Weight loss is also a side effect that is commonly seen.
Avatar f tn Dr. David Grider, Big Pine Key, FL put me on Topamax. Topamax saved my life! It is/was used for treating Epilepsy/seizures. Researcher's found it seemed to block and "cure" Migrains. Perhaps, it cured me. But God in Heaven, please give me back my memory. I appear unintelligent, ignorant and disinterested in what friends have confided in me-e.i., their expectations that I will retain what may trouble or bring them joy.
