Common Questions and Answers about Topamax generic price

topamax

I have been on Topamax for aprox. 8 yrs now, the price of this med just keeps going up. I was recently told that they now have it in generic form, however my pharm has not been able to locate it and she has tried other options. I was told by the CCRX people that it was available, even the Walgreens in my area can not get it. Has any one had this problem? Just curiuos, I am wandering if this is only available in this big cities? and if so, why? My last sript for this med cost me $325.
I have digenerative disc disease and my neirologist just prescribed topamax, he said it would help with the pain and tingling but could result in weight loss. I am wondering if prescribing topamax for ddd is common among neurologists? I can't seem to find any other information related to topamax as a pain med, only information I have is that it's a powerful drug with lots of side effects, most not so good. The weight loss aspect is the only plus...
I take 600mg of topamax for seizures a day and I have never expierenced hair loss but have lost 20lbs. I have been on topo for a year and a half but i do get extremely tired for a 19 year old. Also during the begining of taking topo i had speech problems like could not find the right word or the word was on the tip of my tongue and just did not know it. Know these words were common words that was the hard part. People thinking that you do not have any vocabulary at all.
Doctor prescribed Imitrex, which i have always responded well to for immediate aversion. Maxalt causes no response for me. I declined to start on topamax at that time. In late november Migraines stopped abruptly and stayed gone for about a month. In Late Dec./early Jan. this cycle started again, but on the LEFT side (migraine moved) 2-3 nights per week increasing in frequency to nightly over the next 3 weeks.
I haven't tried any other triptans because Imitrex did the trick, so I had no need to look at other medications. I take 400mg/day of Topamax for seizures. I recently found out that Topamax is also a migraine preventive medication...now I understand why I haven't had a migraine for so long...duh. I don't even get a regular headache very often. I looked up the usual dosing for migraines and it's 100mg/day...far less than what I take. I go to a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy...

A few years ago I had a breast reduction and was taking Dilaudid and other forms of generic Oxycontin to deal with the post op pain. I did okay with the meds at first, but I kept having to change which one, because I would have side effects that were too much to handle. Hydromorphone, Dilaudid, Vicodin--all of them had nasty side effects. I ended up with the worst migraines and the worst nausea ever. Obviously, these all knocked me out, too.
The culprit for me? A Topamax a medication my neuro had put me on. Have you had any changes in medication over the last month? I know the medicine he gave me did nothing at first....after about three weeks it set in. It would take me another month to figure it out.
It involves B-6 injections, but does not mention anything about B-12 w/Lipo. I'm desperate, even though the price is outrageous. Its not so bad if it really works, but if it doesn't, I'm out a lot of money. Anyway, can anyone give me some more feedback about their experiences with these shots.
What is an oral extended release product comparable to fentanyl? (Yes, the price given was for generic and I've been on Avinza, Opana, Kadian, methadone, which was a nightmare, among others)...I have an appointment on Monday to talk about the SWITCH but I'd like to go in with some ideas....PLEASE, CAN ANYONE HELP?
I was in a deep depression for a long time, When I went to the psych she put me on lamictal, when I went back to see her I asked how fast it got into the system because I thought I noticed a change from day one. After talking about my behavior, she said no, the lamictal takes 2-3 weeks at least to get in the system and she thought I was going manic. She then put me on lithium to stop the mania. After my first blood test .3 way to low she upped me to 900.
Hi, The exact mechanism of how these oils help migraine headache is not known but patients with migraine in general and those in whom migraines are triggered by smells have found relief in these products. http://dkmommyspot.com/how-to-use-peppermint-essential-oil-for-migraines-and-nausea/ http://www.migrainedaily.com/2004/10/peppermint_head.html Let us know if you have more questions.
Her neurologist talked her about Keppra because it has ñess side efects, but i´m scared about the things you wrote... Would you talk me about sleepiness with keppra and more about your general expirience??? i would really appreciate that, you can write me (if you want) to my e-mail or by this way (dr.***@**** or ***@****).
The main reason why Lithium isnt prescribed as often as it used to be is simple (and most honest pdoc's will tell you this) - its generic and cheap and pharma companies dont make any money from it. No it wont work for everyone and all drugs need to be prescribed by a doctor I wouldnt use a doctor who let me choose my own meds anyway.
The fact of the matter is that they don't understand many aspects of what generates pain in the spine, of course you'll never get a Doctor to admit that. Our situations are different, but there are some similarities. I've had some numbness and weakness, but it was always preceded by tingling and pain. Neck pain and headaches are very common with most disorders of the C-spine. It sounds like you might have a Whiplash injury in addition to your other problems.
She's able to use those meds as samples for her patients who have more difficulty financially and I'm always happy to see a prescription not going to waste particularly given the costs of some of these meds when you don't have insurance. I think my lexpro and especially my topamax (I take topamax as a prophylaxis for migraines) are both very expensive. She'll even take my meds that aren't necessarily psychotropic in nature.
I've been sick for awhile (2yrs) with extreme fatigue, swollen joints, essential tremor favoring my left arm, occasional night sweats, general feeling of malaise, bad headaches, inability to concentrate, brain fog, muscle weakness, dizziness, and ventricular tachycardia, mostly attributed to subclinical hypothyroidism, yet my symptoms haven't gone away despite thyroid hormone treatment and normal TSH levels, so I think something else is going on...I'm just not sure what.
Well, the script wasn't avail. in generic. 1 mo=$185.00. Ins-break ONLY cost me $85.00 for 90. You can't just stop it or you could have a seizure says it's info, & it can CAUSE memory problems & tremors in some. Read the insert AFTER the 4th pill & I had called the ofc. of severe confusion. Ofc. said to keep taking! Well some of us can't afford mental confusion or we can't work to afford $185 a mo. Got a new Dr. Got a med. for $7.85 a mo. Got extra now to go to Maui!
DO AP"s SUBSTITUTE ONE ANOTHER. i.e. suppose I get rid of the stelazine say (typical AP) does my seroquel contain the same substance - so to say - of the stelazine or risperidone, because I realized that most people are on one AP only along with one AC. The reason why I kept the risperidone since the onset of my disease of OCD 6 years ago is that I felt it organizes my mind, whereas stelazine is to remove my nervous pressure.
I went to neuroophtalmologists, she concluded that spasm is so strong that eyedrops couldnt have realese it for 3 days so she ordered to me to continue usage neurological pescription for general muscles relaxation lorazepam, propranolol, vitamins b6 i E. and arranged to have VEP test in February.
Maybe I jumped the gun/after actually reading some of the post/I now realize that it could defenitely damage your organs I'm Sorry / Drug companies and companies in general constantly make deadly products just to make a profit/Many times the side effects or long term effects are worse the the benefits
You can find the shots at a reasonable price at www.mydietsolutions.
I understand everyone's systems and bodies are unique but if there a general idea of how long these symptoms will last? Weeks? months? Thanks.
So is your g.p. the one who has you on all these psych meds? Just a personal bias, but generally, especially given the complexity of bipolar, psychiatrist have better training in being able to treat and augment medications and they see ALOT more bipolars than general practitioners so they would know more and maybe you could avoid the "odd one" comments. Just a thought...
I noticed that there wasn't any discussion about generic vs. brand name. The reason I bring this up is that generic version of Wellbutrin XL, Budeprion has a faster dissolving rate. It's coating dissolves four times faster than the brand name, causing severe symptoms of: brain zaps, anger, disconnected feeling, short-term memory loss, headache, muscle aches across chest and neck, etc.
I'm glad to hear about Neurotin! I'm very newly taking (4 days into it) Fioricet; which is a close cousin of Neurotin. I'm also taking Pamelor @ night for the nerve pain (this might be the anti-depressent that you mentioned didn't help you) I have nerve stuff going too, but limited to my head only. Past 4 days since on Lyrica, only one migraine and my head is less burny/hurty! And, was able to cut it off @ the right time w/ Maxalt. I'm even wearing a pony tail today!
But I have not seen where anyone has taken percocet. I taken Topamax for migraines, have been on it about 5 years now. I had debilitating migraines, and one day had a seizure. The doctor realized at that point how bad things were and put me on Topamax to stop seizures (only had 1 more about 2 years later due to running out and waiting for it to arrive thru my insurance-mail order, very dumb on my part), and to relieve the migraines.
My docter upped me to 150 mg about three days ago, and even with taking with Klonapin ( temporarily ) and ambien, I'm still restless, especially my legs, and cannot sleep. Does this generally subside after a few weeks, or is this dose too much for me ? My depression is 100% better with the higher dose. Anyone have any comments or experience with this ? Thanks so much for your input.
