1302779 tn?1287405029 i have tremors and migraines and take klonopin. it was prescribed for my tremors and hasnt helped at all for my migraines. they might try something else for your migraines. they have me on topamax which is suppose to help with both of my symptoms.
1276940 tn?1564515084 What I am wanting to know is could my tremors be from the Elavil or Zoloft (I am on a high dose)? Even after being on them for this long? And if so why hasn't the Topamax helped slow them down? Or is this something I should get checked out? I should also mention that I was dx with Pars Planitis in Sept of last year. I am on no meds for it just being closely monitored. But I have been told several times that MS & Pars Planitis go hand in hand.
Avatar m tn In my case, I really liked it as a mood stabilizer, but over time it caused pronounced hand tremors. The big one to watch out for is the risk of a severe and potentially dangerous rash. If Lamotrigine is ramped up very slowly, that risk is greatly diminished. Good luck!
Avatar n tn As this could be the withdrawl effects of drugs. This is unlikely to be mini seizures, tremors will happen for a while and then go off on its own. Were you on one or multiple drugs for seizures?
Avatar n tn I have had essential body tremors for years and take Inderal 60 LA once a day for them. A few days ago I had to have steroid spinal injections for a herniated disc. Since then, my back feels better, but the tremors have gotten worse. Is this a reaction to the steroid and will it continue as long as the medication is in my body? I don't know which is worse, the terrible back pain or the tremors. The tremors are visible and can really drive you crazy.
Avatar m tn topamax 50mg for ulnar nerve pain and cymbalta 30mg which he swtched form my aropax (paxil) which i had taken for 13 yrs without any adverse effects. The side effects were awful from these medications. Agitation , fast heart rate, insomnia and suicidal thoughts ( i thought i was depressed before!). Now it appears that i am left with a permanent tremor in my hands and head. I also get frequent muscle twitching. Its been 4 months and they havn't eased what's the go!!!!

1232362 tn?1333135406 Due to financial issues I haven't been able to fill my topamax script and won't be able to for at least another week. How will this affect me and when I can refill should I just start back up like nothing happened? So far I seem ok.
518001 tn?1212419235 Yes, I take provigil, some days up to 400 mg (the max dose). I've been on it for about 4 years and I couldn't get through the day with out it. Everyone is different so it's hard to say if it would make tremors worse for you or not. I don't have tremors and it does not make me jittery at all. In addition to the amount of provigil I take, i also drink up to 4 cups of regular coffee a day.
Avatar f tn I had a follow up to my chiari dr this week and there is no change in the size of my syrinx but I do feel worse then last time. Also I have eds which I never knew about either. Doc says surgery is up to me for now and not necessary unless I cant handle symptons. They increased my topamax and 2 days later I felt like I was riding a speeding elevator. Anyone else have this effect from an increase?
3144747 tn?1343049136 I am a 69 yo female in excellent health. I have had a tremor in both hands with the left being more pronounced. My mother, one daughter, and 12 yo grandson suffer also with this. I have been on Propanolol for over 25 years. Doses varying....always trying to decrease the need. Probably about 5 times I have tried to discontinue it but wind up going back on because I am unable to function. Experiencing tachycardia, entire body feeling internally tremulous and hand tremors more severe.
Avatar f tn It could be those that had a hair loss issue also had a thyroid issue and assumed it was the topamax......????
428030 tn?1238281498 I too suffer with numbness, tingling, ringing in the ear and internal tremors. My titers for Epstein Barr were very high, all 3 levels. Right now, all I have been told is that I have EBV, low Vitamin D, and possibly some hyperthyroid issues. My neuro has done a full workup for MS. This has been going on since July. I am lost and tired of going from doctor to doctor.
1276940 tn?1564515084 My job at the time required fine and precise dexterity, and when I found my hands shaking with the tremors you described, I just had someone else do that aspect and be my hands for me. I had that arranged when I knew it was going to be a problem. Like you, it would come on when I read papers or holding something...very noticeable and unpredictable when they would start or stop. Frequenter, early on the lithium therapy, and slowed down when the lithium came off to no tremors now.
358486 tn?1294776388 Thank U 4 responding! What were U put on the topamax for, if u don't mind me asking? Did U have jerking like me? Avatar m tn I would ask for an alternative medicine. Topamax causes hair loss which I have experienced first hand. I found out that that is one of the main side effects and wish I hadn't taken it. I would look on the internet for medications that treat migraines and look at all of the side effects. I have found I have to be proactive and do my research and ask the doctor about a specific medication.
Avatar f tn I had periorbital migraines and was placed on Topamax, technically an anti-seizure but also great for migraine/headache control and mood stabilization in bipolar disorder. That for a while was the only thing that worked for me. It can have a sedative and appetite suppressant effect. I was also shortly on a low dose of Elavil for migraines. Carefull with that one, take only the amount prescribed.
Avatar f tn She passed out at work from the dizziness and went to the hospital. After 3 days at the hospital, she was sent home with some topamax for her headaches. She was still experiecing severe dizziness to where she could walk on her own. She now uses a walker to move around the house and sometimes not even the walker can help her keep her balance. Two days after being discharged from the hospital and told that there was nothing wrong with but a little stress!, she started having tremors.
Avatar f tn t have the mental changes that seem to accompany this condition. Inderal/Propanolol is used for tremors, and anxiety so it may be worth discussing with her doctor. I take it for a tremor in my hand, and it's also used to treat people with Parkinsons, high blood pressure, and a few other things. If I were you, I'd google this and do some research, can't hurt and may help. Good luck to you both and do take care. http://www.minddisorders.com/Br-Del/Conversion-disorder.
1276940 tn?1564515084 I am a soon to be 42 y/o (next month) female who has been experiencing tremors in my right hand for quite some time now. I am Bipolar and have been for going on 14 years now. I have been on NUMEROUS meds over the years but my current "cocktail" consists of: Topamax (off label for mood swings) 200 mgs daily, Zoloft 250 mgs daily, Elavil 50 mgs at bedtime, Klonopin (PRN) & Vistaril (PRN). I have been on this "cocktail" for about 2 years now.
1655289 tn?1326042889 Topamax does tend to cause weight loss, but trust me, this is not the way you want to lose weight. Topamax (I was taking it for bipolar) first of all did nothing for my moods. I was back in the hospital a few months after first being prescribed this, along with seroquel and ativan for panic and anxiety. That's not what makes this medicine so undesirable though. With each dose increase, I had numbness in my legs and arms. This could continue for as long as 2 weeks after a dose increase.
Avatar m tn An NSAID is good for inflammation, Anti-Seizure (like Lyrica, Neurontin or Topamax) medications are good for nerve pain. If Lyrica made your fiance too drowsy, Topamax might be a better alternative. This is what I take instead. It's in the same class, but has different side effects. Many people do not get as drowsy. Muscle relaxers can help too. Everyone's cocktail is different, because everyone's reacts differently to medications.

Avatar f tn is anyone else on these two? I was recently diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder and the doctor put me on lexapro and topamax. I have now heard horror stories about topamax and I don't want to take it. I want to know some alternatives.
