topamax

I was also taking Prilosec for some nausea. For some reason I had forgotten to take the prilosec for a couple days and hadn't had a headache. Got in the car to start a 6 hr trip and thought I should take it since I would be eating out a lot over the next few days. Within 30 minutes I had another headache that progressed to a migraine. (Thankfully I was riding and not driving.) I haven't taken the prilosec and haven't had a headache like that except for when I took too many tums one day.
Hi I started Topamax a month ago for sezures. I have been thin a size 4 for quite a few years. Im 28 years old. I was pregnant in April and lost the baby and sadly gained 20 pounds so when I had to take Topamax I was glad it could help with weight loss. Im at 100 millagrams. I have weird sezures that wake me up at nite I feel like Im having a heart attack I get sweaty and very sick. They say I have a high heart rate but I think its from my sezures. Autonomic sezures.
I am now soon to be 51, so estrogen really has nothing to do with weight gain, it is the lack of exercise and eating healthy. my doctor has started me on topamax for seizure disorder and he said it may help with wt loss. I am 5 ft 3 in tall so you can imagine how fat i look. but good luck to you with topamax. let me know how you are doing.
I have been on Topamax now for about 6 months I started out at 50 mg and am now up to 100 mg 3 times a day I no longer have migranes thank God!! But my head does get fuzzy at times and I have memory blocks at times I have lost about 47 pounds I havent changed the way I eat I just eat alot less because Im just not hungry anymore.I do worry about the side affects I read about but I havent had anything that would make me quit taking it...
My dr. put me on Topamax... for migranes, but also for weightloss... He says it will really kick in and start helping me shed weight once I get up to the 150-200mg mark. I am currently on 100mg's/day and will increase to 150mgs by the weeks end...then 200mg's by the following week... Anyone else use this drug and what are your experiances at the different dosage levels? I have no headaches at all which I love...
I've been on Topamax for about a year now at 75mg x 2 day i can put up with most of the side effects but the last few weeks i've been getting hair loss. i did not know this was one of the side effects of Topamax and the only way i found out was by going on the web , i think we should get told more about this side effect of topamax it's not nice seeing your hair washing away every time you want to wash your hair.
Hi, I have been taking a very low dose of Topamax for probably a year now and it has really helped me. I have ocular migraines but had begun having daily over the temperol/left eye pain migraine pain during the day. Working for a doctor he tried me on the Topamax at just the 25mg and it stopped them completely.
I didn't change my eating at all, because I've been eating very little for years. The Topamax just made it easier for me to get throught the day. But I don't really care. I just don't want to lose my hair. I'm contacting my doctor tomorrow to go off the drug and I'm going to add the biotin and some Omega-3 Thanks for the tips. I just hope I've caught it in time. I was so happy about the weight loss which I will continue, but I'm not sure how I'll deal with the hair loss. Sorry this is so long.

When I found this site today, I realized I have more trigger foods. I had potatoes for supper last night and BAM headache! Now I know I need to also watch for more trigger foods. I am also a very tired person/low energy and always have been. By chance how many on here have had Mono? Just curious. I have blood tested for it twice in my life. The first time I was five. I'm not sure that means anything, but I was just wondering.
00 in the morning which I find strange since I only take the Topamax at night. Unless the reason that I’m having the side effects is because the medication wearing off or even better yet, these aren’t side effects but something totally different! The symptoms kinda come in waves from what I can see so far, they last pretty much all day long.
Thanks for the response--I have been told that anything with syndrome on it means medicine does not know what it is. Is there a cure for CFS and can it be the cause of my most pressing problems---Occipatal Head Pain--and Numbing of the Jaw area--and of course Tiredness??
I have found the topamax to help reduce the daily headaches although it has not reduced the number of acute migraine attacks, I have been on the topamax for a while now. I am not sure if the nadolol is working, but I have also only been taking it since August so I cannot say for sure how effective it is.
One of our most revered faculty members, Lee Archer, MD, a neurologist, provided a copy of the handout he gives to his headache patients. With his permission, I adapted it for use with my own patients. I thought it was so good that I asked him if I could publish it on my blog so that others could benefit from his advice. Headaches are incredibly common and usually frustrating for providers.
I am not to go to work the rest of the week (which is good and I can't drive on this compazine, sedation is getting to me but i'm eating more now! My neurologist fit me in for friday and mentioned topamax when he called me but that drug scares me. Would increasing elavil help? What about Neurontin. I think my insurance will give a hassel with topamax, but neurontin i should be ok. Thank you both for your support. It means so much, beyond words....
Do you ever get headaches at night from all the squinting and looking at (searching for) your spots? The whole things makes me so depressed sometimes.
I had 2 incidences of smelling oatmeal while hooked up and I have daily incidences of numbness across my temples and cheek bones, sometimes tingling across the tops of my cheeks, depending on how much stress I've been under, and how icy MIL has been that day, usually right before it's time for my dose of topamax.
I am taking Topamax for Epilepsy and am on a schedule to inscrease the dosage to like 200 or something like that. I used to take Carbatrol but had break through seizures and carbatrol can be bad for your liver which worried me. The side effects are driving me mad though, my feet are constantly falling asleep whenever I cross my legs or put my foot on my knee and the tingling is worse in my face then in my fingers.
I have had headaches for years, my suggestion to you is DO NOT take the topamax and maxalt. I have taken both and was on for 1 1/2 years I was a bookkeeper and numbers were my thing. I could not add 2 +2 after those meds were done with me. I am still not normal and I have stopped them in October 2007. When i was admitted back into the hospital. I ended up with prencious anemia so I have to give myself B12 shots for the rest of my life because my body will no longer absorb the nutrient it needs.
Personally don't want to endure more radiation as I am scanned all the time for one reason or another in trying to provide a dx for all my problems.
Hi, thanks for the advice. After yet another night with no sleep I have decided I will give the Zyprexa a go. I shall keep an eye on my diet and do regular exercise. I agree with your way of thinking, perhaps it is better to be a little heavier and not having the extreme mood swings than thin and up and down! I hadn't realised depakote could do that to the thyroid, I was on it for 18 months and gained more weight in the last 3 months of taking it than I had in the whole previous 15 months.
So, we are trying a double dip, meaning, trying topamax for my migraines and nerve pain. My main question for writing here is how you all deal with the other conditions that seem to come with the fibro. I have suffered from lifelong depression and insomnia and currently take pristiq, which is ok, not great but it's the only stuff with no weight gain and since I have been on and off prednilosone so much and so much injections, i have gained almost 70 pounds and weighed almost 200 pounds.
Now it takes 6-8mg of Xanax ot help me sleep and like everything else I've tried, I'm up most of the night waiting for it to kick in. Restless Leg Syndrome is new to me as well. I think I have an extrememy high tolerance to medication (5'11" for a female) but I'm at a loss at what to do. Lithium? Depakote?
I also take Wellbutrin,Voltaren, Flexeril and Topamax which may be helping some. That is interesting about Topamax and Fibro...I've never heard that before. I take it for migraines and I have not lost alot of weight but I don't eat alot to begin with, but I am over weight. My daughter lost a lot of weight on it she had to get off of it...it actually blocked her sweat glands. Anyway, I am interested in what all and if you take any supplements.
I have bloodwork done by my Rheumy, one diagnosed me with hypermobility syndrome, myoclonus, neuropathy and fibro. He prescribed the Cymbalta and the Lamictal for the Neuropathy & Fibromyalgia, and the Requip for the Myoclonus & RLS....He was more concerned with my Neurological conditionm, says the burning and tingling is a neurological condition....This sent me back to my second Neuro, because my first Neuro was a complete nutcase with the GOD syndrome....
Hi, I'm not posting to ask an opinion on diagnosing keto breath, just how to get rid of it. I don't have diabetes, not on low carb and not losing weight, I do get low blood sugar for no reason and it's unpredictable, the breath, it's just there. I do eat small regular meals and of course it's worse when I wake up after 8hrs of no food. I've had extensive tests, I'm stuck with it.
She also takes 450 mgs of Wellbutrin a day for depression and 100 mgs of Topamax for migraines. Add to that the fact that she drinks a few glasses of wine every night and you have quite a cocktail. Since being put on Adderall her behavior has really changed. Yes - she is more focused at work - but she is also quick to take offense and anger now too. If any of us dares to say that she may be overmedicated - she gets angry and defensive.
every person will react diffently to meds a lot of dr try the kepera frist because it does not go thought the liver but keep in mind keppra was designed for older people my son was a night mare on keppra
I notice it is worse sometimes while eating. I think its related to the diaphram for sure cause thats where the tension is. I take deep deep breath and let it out for excercise (not enough) and it really helps relax. OK, I've got some of it out...now for someone that may help us please?! TO the poster before, if chronic hyperventilation syndrome is something it could be, how can we fix it?
