I'm 46 yrs old, 5 ft 6in & weigh 190 lbs. During my teens and 20's, I was involved heavily in dance (jazz, tap, ballet, musical theatre) and developed anorexia. I did not weigh over 100 until I was 25 years old. During my 30's & 40's I started binging & purging...stopping only during my 2 pregnancies. Now I am in the routine of not eating all day (except for coffee & water) and binge at night (10pm onwards) consuming huge amounts of calories.

I had daily headaches/migraines for months and the last thing we tried was topomax. It caused me to have incredible reactions that resembled a stroke at one point so I quit taking it after I talked with my doctor. I was also taking Prilosec for some nausea. For some reason I had forgotten to take the prilosec for a couple days and hadn't had a headache. Got in the car to start a 6 hr trip and thought I should take it since I would be eating out a lot over the next few days.

I was wondering if taking 100mg of Tramadol at night along with 60 mg Cymbalta and 50 mg of Topamax could cause Serotonin Syndrome? I have recently had several of the symptoms but I was treated for Post Traumatic Stress. The more I think about it, it sounds like SS.

I still have the tics occassionally, althought it disappeared temporarily when I go abroad for vacation or even just attending business fair. Is my tics considered a tourette syndrome? May I know if there is any natural nutrients to help alleviate it? Is there any remedy to tics.

ll give you my opinion and input. Personally, I take Topamax for bingeing and purging and it really, really helps me. However, I would not recommend it if you have a urges to restrict, or have struggled with restricting or anorexia in the past. Also, I can really relate to where you are right now with everything. I've been there, and I feel for you. It's a rough place to be. Your anxiety seems to be pretty high. Have you ever taken anything for anxiety that has helped you?

I have found the topamax to help reduce the daily headaches although it has not reduced the number of acute migraine attacks, I have been on the topamax for a while now. I am not sure if the nadolol is working, but I have also only been taking it since August so I cannot say for sure how effective it is.

Hi, I am taking Topamax for my bulimia. I have suffered with this for So so long. I was on topamax once before and it did help quite a bit, for quite awhile. For an unrelated reason, I had to stop it. I just began it again, and I have to say, I am having a hard time staring it. The side effects are much more exagerated then what I remember. Severe anxiety, depression and extreme senistivity to touch. I was to start with 50 mg a day...and increase from there. I just can't.

This time about a woman on Topamax for 7 days who seemed to have lost almost all her vision 12 hours after increasing her dose per her doctor's instructions.

I have been off Topamax for approx. 8 months and was wondering if I began to take Topamax again would it help with weight loss or once it has leveled off it will no longer aid in weight loss? I currently take Maxalt for headaches only as needed so the Topamax was only used as an anti-seizure med. My daughter was on Topamax for a mood disorder. Found out it's nicknamed "dopamax" because it can cause cognitive slowness plus drowsiness. Hopefully you'll just build a tolerance for it and not see these things.

I do experience tingling toes from the Topamax but I have never had my heel tingle then go numb! I have been on Topamax for over 1 1/2 years now.....so could the my heel problem be from the Topamax like my toes or is it something related to the blurry vision & the muscle aches & joint aches I am experiencing? I take Topamax 100 mg once a day for migraines. I have found that it has worked wonders for me. I don't get migraines very often anymore. I was out about once a week before taking topamax and now its much less than that and when I do get them they are at least manageable. sherrilynn- I find it interesting the effect topamax had on your eating habits as I have found it to have the opposite on mine. For the most part my appetite has decreased, except for during my period of course.

I also was suffering from migraines and trouble sleeping, and was started on Topamax for the control of the headaches and Elavil for to help me sleep. One of the side effects of Topamax is tingling in the extremities, so although my headaches did decrease the tingling sensation increased for a while. Then it abated and I was fine for a couple of months, until I started experiencing the tingling again, this time accompanied by numbness and weakness in my arms and legs.

I have been on topamax for migraines for eleven months now and have lost a ton of weight...at first i had same side effects and it was very scary, but they do lessen in time and i find not having as many migraines well worth the first 6 weeks of strange speech, confusion, side pain etc. i make myself drink enough water each day...and with the help of excercise i have lost around 27kgs...definitly dampens my appetite!!.

It could be those that had a hair loss issue also had a thyroid issue and assumed it was the topamax......????

I took Zantac for a few months and the pain went away. I generally have no symptoms. Lately, I was put on Topamax for my migraine and migraine associated vertigo and a side effect is GI reflux. Twice now I have been eating spicy food and I will be almost finished eating and no problems then I will take a bite and suddenly get burning in my throat like fire (no feeling of regurgitation or anything then I drink something and cough and cough and can't talk for a little while and it goes away.

I feel that if you are showing any allergic reaction to topamax,pls stop taking it and consult your doctor for a change in prescription.You can take over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin for itching.Application of calamine lotion is also soothing.You can apply 1% hydrocortisone cream like dermacort on the itchy areas.If symptoms persist then pls consult your doctor.Oral steroids are needed.
