I starting taking it and the headaches slowly dulled if anything and then a new pain started at the base of my skull by the middle of my lower neck. I had to recently stop taking the Topamax because I found out I was pregnant. The headaches came back full force of course and my pain that was by my lower neck has moved to the back lower right side of my head and the pain is making me feel sick. I sometimes feel quite nauseated and very very sleepy.
I have experienced the same! 6 months on topamax for migraine pain. Topamax caused seizures and thyroid problems plus numerous other smaller issues that compound to complete life altering issues. I cannot find a doctor in my network that will address this. They will only prescribe more drugs for the symptoms. They are incredibly uneducated in this next generation of doctors, only knowing how to prescribe drugs.
My recommendation is to go see and eye doctor, I have had this bad migraine for going on four months staight. I have taken topamax and all other migraine meds and even pains meds it was so bad it has sent me to the ER at lease twice a month to get a shot and sent on my marry way knowing that it was no going to last long before the headaches returned. My doctor has given up on what to give me.
Your symptoms strongly suggest migraine and that is obviously what the neurologist thought as topomax is for migraine prevention. If you look at the product information brochure you will not it can cause acute glaucoma. The side effects you describe are enough to switch medicine. I would strongly suggest you contact your neurologist and tell him/her that the side effects are more than you can take. There are other medications available.
I took topamax for a month for chiari pain and feibro. It made me worse. I usually get most reactions to medicines though. I was depressed and angry all the time. After I stopped taking it I felt a lot better. I have chronic pain 24/7 and nothing works usually. I would rather not rely on pills. I have tried every pill and only ones that work at all and don't make me crazy are excedrin-works as well as anything else, vicodin and morphine.this is just my experience everyones body is different.
They affect my balance,vision and on occasion my speech. I have noticed that the position of my head and neck may be connected to the onset of these pains. Can someone please give me some suggestions as to whats going on????
It does talk about how the Verapamil dilates the blood vessels. I have chronic neck pain as well as chronic migraines which the neurologists think that my neck pain is causing my migraines. That's why the nerve block injections and Botox injections in my neck is thought to help my migraines.
Unfortunately I couldn't tolerate the medication, also called Calan, but I'm really glad that you Smarty99 had such an incredible experience.
I have been on Topamax for 5yrs and have had my left and right shoulders frozen in the past 2 years. I am in my late 40's and in good health and the ortho said this was very unusual. He said that some seizure meds may cause this and I knew that higher doses are taken for epilepsy. He said they had never looked into this. Also, I have recently had episodes of memory loss. I know that this is a side effect but will it go away if I go off of Topamax?
t take it because everytime i do it gives me such horrible chronic neck pain i cry from it worsening the headache worsening the neck pain like a domino effect till i have to sleep it off then i lose hours of the day. i was just wondering if anyone else has had the problem and has a possible solution.....
Hi, my name is lindsey and i am 18 years old and at first i had experienced severe back lower back pain. I then had some stroke symptoms like numbness, tingling sensations etc associated with pain in my lower back and neck. I had seen many doctors and run many tests incuding xrays, mri's and others. i have taken muscle relaxers, 800 mg ibeuprofen, and more than i forget. i went to a neurologist and they did some more tests which all came out clear.
Symptoms included aching, burning, and throbbing pain that can be on one or both sides of head and can have continuous/intermittent, shocking, shooting pain. Pain usually is over the neck, temple, and frontal regions. Ocassionally, neck movement extension/rotation may trigger this pain. ETC.....
There are many medications for treatment, or surgery is suggested if there is structural changes in the neck.
