612101 tn?1220772860 you have classic symptoms of binge eating disorder. people with this disorder often have anxiety and depression. antidepressants when I took them made me so hyper that it made me binge. then I would take anxiety meds. none of this helped my problem. my doctor made me slowly get off all. I was more depressed and anxious. worth it in hindsight. put on topamax .25mg. at night. it makes you sleepy and tingly. a life saver.
Avatar n tn What kind of physical consequences are there to binge eating. I had this for years, overeating really fast and way too much. In the recent past I got on a medication and stopped. But now I have bad acid reflux, what feels like a tear in my intestines and an ulcer in my stomach and a gallbladder that is going downhill. I never knew what it meant to be full because I would alot of times eat past that.
Avatar f tn I'm a 55 Y/O female who has been binge eating for about 20 years. I've been to every kind of therapy, even went to a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders, gave me an RX ( don't remember the name) I've gained and lost 50LBS 3 times, this time I gained 60LBS and can't loose the last 25. I can't control my eating no matter what I do. I've also been to OA and I didn't like it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
1207078 tn?1265825982 m glad you posted here. Unfortunately binge eating and anorexia are like different sides of the same coin. You have an eating disorder. The good news is you CAN become a "normal teenage girl" and get recovery from your eating disorder. The problem though is it's not something that can be achieved easily with "tips" or "tricks". Eating disorders are complicated and have many causes.
877379 tn?1259664623 I feel like since my main problem is now binging, that I cant have an eating disorder because binge eating disorder is not ok for me to have. I feel like I would be a failure if I was diagnosed as that. I dont think she will stop eating junk food and food always seems to be around when we hang out. any ideas for any activity we could do that is "food free"? isnt there sugar in almost everything? I would love to be able to just eat a little and then stop.
Avatar f tn I'm a 56 y/o female who has had a problem with binge eating since I was about 30. I can gain 20 lbs in a month no problem. Sometimes I can't stop eating, and when I'm too full to eat anymore, I can't wait to digest so I can eat more. I've been to psychiatrist's that specialize in eating disorders, OA, read every book I could find, went to counseling for years and years, and have been on every diet there is.
Avatar f tn from what I notice about my eating disorder is that my eating disorder will make me binge at a certain point so that eventually I won't ever eat again and I'll be sooooo pissed off at food that I'll end up starving myself again. Trust me...this isn't you it's your eating disorder. Try to fight against it and don't get like me. I went from 270 pounds to 70 pounds.
Avatar f tn Individuals with purging disorders often are normal or near normal weight. Avatar f tn Hi there. Well, are you truly concerned? I only ask because you put in a LOL at the very end. I think that pregnancy hormones can trigger chemicals in the brain and the overeating and craving of massive sweets that you binge on until you throw up could be related to that, similar to an eating disorder. Ha, I've never heard of a pregnancy induced eating disorder though. But people with an eating disorder often have that same lack of Impulse control.
1641906 tn?1301131090 Since 5th grade I've been bulimic, anorexic, and a huge binge eater, among other things. I tried to commit suicide in 5th partly because I was overweight (I honestly was). In 6th I was just a binge eater and gained weight, self mutilitating more than I did before. 6th summer I began to restrict again and exercised. I lost weight- but of course not enough. 7th I exercised and binged because I was happy with my weight so I felt like eating was ok....plus it numbed my feelings.
Avatar f tn from an eating disorder which I had back in 2012, however since my eating disorder I have weighed myself every day consistently for the past 5 years, and always at the same time. I have tried to stop weighing myself, however the longest I have gone without weighing myself is a week, and then I got super anxious about gaining heaps of weight. This constant weighing also causes me to binge and not listen to my body's hunger cues. For example, I will weigh myself and see that my weight is 55.
Avatar f tn I also recommend watching the binge eating disorder video on YouTube from the channel breelovesbeauty .... I suffered from bed and these things helped me a lot.

Avatar m tn It can lead to binge eating and weight gain. It is an eating disorder and needs to be corrected. I will advise you to lose or gain weight in an ideal way through proper diet and exercise. Best wishes!
6811971 tn?1385557755 I suffered from Anorexia for six years of my life and have been recovered for twelve years now. For me, I experienced some gas and bloating. This can be quite stressful as it makes one feel full and gaining weight. I found that mixing some natural ginger in a tea or water helped. Also, digestion was a little slow for me. To help that along, I used papaya and pineapple. They both contain digestive enzymes called papain and bromelain respectively.
Avatar f tn It is not uncommon to be depressed, not eat for periods of time and then go for binge eating. However, the feeling of wanting death points towards a higher level of depression. You need to consult a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders. Also depression would need to be treated side by side. Please consult your parents, maybe your school or college therapist and some else whom you can trust and who can talk to your parents. Please try and see a therapist as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn An eating disorder can be when you "don't have control" over your eating habits, or when you have obsessive control over your eating habits. If you have eating behavior not clearly defined as anorexia or bulimia, its called Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified or EDNOS. I want to tell you that you are a very strong person to recognize this and that you want to change it. That is the first step.
Avatar f tn My advice is to find a nutritionist and talk to them about it.

Avatar f tn Seeking professional help could be the best thing you have ever done for yourself. You may also consider seeking an eating disorder program as your treatment option. This option offers a treatment team usually consisting of a medical doctor, psychiatrist, individual and family therapist, registered dietitian and group therapy. For more information on treatment options, you may want to visit the bella vita website.
1041656 tn?1253394619 It seems to me like you're developing a sub type eating disorder. You have days where you don't eat or you binge and take a couple laxatives, those are all symptoms of an eating disorder. You think about food all the time because you're brain is starving. Also, it is possible that your body is used to the couple laxatives and it needs more to flush your system out. I don't know what your relationship with your parents is but I would start by maybe talking to them.
Avatar f tn i have a binge eating disorder. since i was 20 it started i went on a diet and restricted myself then wold "cheat" on the diet and start all over on monday kinda thig get it....well ihave been doing this for 7 years up and down with my wt its driving me crazy. for the last 3 years i have managed to stay 5 pounds from my goal wt that i like to be at but lately i have been stressed and eating alot of food binging 2 days a week about.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure that you need all of this medication. I take Vyvanse, which is frequently prescribed for both ADD/ADHD and binge eating disorder. I don't take it for weight loss, but I know that it is often used for that purpose. I agree that the two medications you are on seem like an odd combo. I took Adderall in the past but felt very jittery and anxious. Vyvanse does not give me that feeling.
