Topamax estrogen

Common Questions and Answers about Topamax estrogen

topamax

Unfortuntely, I get seizure like symptoms (not siezures) that I have to find something that help either diet or maybe estrogen (they think it may be linked to estrogen flucation) I hate being on meds. So, what are you doing now? Thanks again.
It was a bad idea for me, a person without ovaries, to stop estrogen completely. Migraines came back with a vengeance. As for Topamax, I probably will have to choose stupidity, but I'll deal with that after getting my Paxil and estrogen regulated again and calming down with Xanax and magnesium. I can barely stand to eat anything.
I have been on topamax for almost 2 weeks now. I take them for migraines. At first I went a little crazy but now am better. Sodas taste really nasty to me and i normally am the first to want some kind of sweet and recently I can't even look at it. I was also told that you are suppose to lose some weight which I am very excited about especially after two kids. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this medicine and when they started losing their weight.
I want to go on Topamax because it is said to help binge eating, but my psychiatrist won't prescribe it because it makes you lose your appetite and he is afraid I will fall into anorexia again... So, I went online and bought it from an overseas pharmacy without a prescription. Now I am worried that when I start it it may interfere with my birth control - - something I hadn't thought about before. What birth control should I be taking to counterbalance Topamax? Right now I'm on the Yaz pill..
I think thats my problem) Last year I had a hysterectomy and now have to deal w/ estrogen injections that put and extra 30lbs. on me... before Topamax .. I started on July 28th at 220lbs... as of today I'm at 194lbs.... To me that is A MIRACLE.... That Phen stuff does not work for me... Adipex makes me grumpy when I come off of it.... and my doctor said Xenical and Meridia cause really horrible bowel problems..... so Topamax was a good choice ...
I have been taking topamax for 3 months for migraines. I’ve been getting them everyday for about 2 years (if I don’t have a headache, I have pressure behind my eyes which makes me feel tired). Well, I titrated up to 90 mgs of topamax and since I reached 90 mgs, the past month I’ve been headache free (YAY) until 5 days ago.
I have had severe headaches for the last 6 months everyday and am now on Topamax 50mg BID, awaiting an MRI to see if any growth has occurred.
It can cause extreme weight loss, severe dehydration, brain fog, memory loss, kidney stones and more. Treatment - stop the topamax, start estrogen replacement. I went from not having the energy to shampoo my hair, or take care of my children, home, work, etc, because of a medication and a lack of needed hormones. I also changed my diet to cut out as much processed food as possible.
The first EEG I had shown something wrong on the left side of my head and the second showed normal..but something is funny about that because I don't feel all normal..yet.I am also on topamax. Plus, my estrogen is still not leveled out right yet..I feel like I am in a tornado..then thrown on the rocks..And stress you know Anixety..I have a teenager and a toddler and sometimes with all this it is hard to cope.. The first neruologist I went to his bedside manner sucked...
I am not quite sure if it is depression or not. I take Wellbutrin 150 1 x day + topamax 100 2 x a day for migraines (they have helped). Started taking estrogen again after stopping last year because I had a vit D deficiency (14.2) In a lot of pain. But it is now back up to 45.I do have poly-arthritis--knees and shoulders9need replacement---I am--or was very active. I excercise (walk daily), work, I am 58. no severe health problems.
And what about Topamax? I'm on Topamax for my stupid migraines, and they just increased it by 25mg to a total of 100mg of Topamax/night. The Dr. thinks maybe thats whats causing the problems? I don't know, I have for some reason over the years learned to NOT trust doctors, I need to learn to trust them. Especially mine. Maybe go back down to 75mg where I was OK, and get off the Tegretol and on to something that will work better for me. I'm such a mess, I hate this.
slight flush, deja vu and a metallic taste in my mouth. I am taking 1200 mgs of Tegretol, and 50 mgs of Topamax daily. About a year ago I started through menopause. My periods would only come every 3 or 4 mos. Therefore I would only have auras every 3 or 4 mos. Six weeks ago I had a total hysterectomy and my Gynecologist keeps insisting that I need to be on some type of hormone pill. Everytime I try to take these hormone pills I have the auras every so often.
I've been taking both Topamax and Elavil for several years to prevent migraine headaches and I continue to have 4-6 headaches per month; after logging my headaches for years, it has become clear that those 4-6 headaches every month are menstrual migraines and the 2 different prevention meds are doing little if nothing to prevent those headaches.
I developed ammenorea as a result of cysts on my left ovary which my doctor said was because of a low estrogen level. My doctor also ran a couple of other tests and said everything else came back normal (although she didn't do a blood count or platelet level or anything like that. just basic blood work) 2 months: light itching and tingling all over the body but w/ no rash or skin issues. about two weeks ago: decreased appetite. I can go about fourteen to twenty hours without being hungry.
I get at least one a month, finally I was referred to a neurologist who put me on Topamax, it helps to minimize the migraines, where other drugs help to relive the pain. It did work because I went like 3 months without one...BUT...the side affects were horrible (for me anyways). I eventually got off it because I couldn't handle the side affects anymore. The only side affect I enjoyed was weight loss...
In the last few days, my upper right eyelid has started fluttering intermittently as well. I have been on Topamax (100mg) per day for migraines since 2009, so I doubt whether this has suddenly become the cause. I am not stressed, but I do drink 2-3 cups of coffee per day. Can eyelid twitching go on this long? Thanks for any and all replies. I am getting a bit despondent about this!
I was taking Imitrex for a while but, I did not like the way I felt-it caused my heart to beat too fast, felt I was surley gonna pass out. I am still taking Topamax to help preventing these headahces. It don't seem to help me. It is progressing, I had a hysterectomy last year of June of 09. I had Fibroid tumor in my uterus, I get severe cramping and migraines. I was pleased the cramping is no longer there but, I still get these terrible terrrible migraines. It made a lot worse.
Have you had any patients experience hair loss due to taking Topamax for Migraine. I have been taking it for 1 1/2yrs at a dose of 150mg/day. For the past 6 months I have seen a dramatic loss in my hair. Their is no family (male or Female) pattern baldness in my family. I am a healthy 43yr old female, work out reguarly, 125lbs, no health issues (except migraine). I do have a lower than normal estrogen level which is the only blood level that came up questionable.
I had brought up my headaches to my OB when I was there discussing my lack of periods that I had been having for several months and he ordered blood work and found that my body was not producing estrogen and that my pituitary gland was not producing the hormone to make my body produce estrogen. He diagnosed me with being in menopause and ordered and MRI. The MRI came back normal (this was all I was told about what showed up on it) And he referred me to a hormone specialist.
I am 42 years old. I have 4 great growing boys. And I have been married to my husband for 23 years. I am still in love with him. I am still very attracted to him. We have had our ups and downs-Like all couples! But, I feel so in love with him lately (for the past year)-We have been raising 4 beautiful children, that are so wonderful- I am so proud of all of them. Anyway.. We have come a LONG way.....I have had a chronic illness since since 2003. I used to run my own biz.
So, I have some questions.... I have been suffering for a year and a half with a boatload of symptoms first shrugged off as fibromyalgia, then when I experiences visual and nervous system symptoms they did MRI and found Chiari malformation which I had surgery for, but through the entire process and my research I've requested hormone labs because I expected pituitary problems the entire time because its the only thing that fit everything.
He has undergone radiation treatment for prostate cancer and seems to have that under control with estrogen injections. He was admitted to the psyc ward for observation when his behavior became disruptive to the other patients. Now that he is home, we have a full time companion to assist him with his recovery and costodial care. His incontinence interrupts my 80 year old mother's evening rest. He has become increasingly agitated and impulsive.
I had similar feelings and thought I was starting perimenopause but now think it was a combo of stress and topamax withdrawal-but I totally get how you feel. I literally thought I was going insane! I agree with lady-exercise helps and gets your mind off of things-I like yoga but you'll find whatever you like. I hope you feel better and you're not alone!!
Last night, she was scanning tv channels and she knew she should stop scanning because her head was feeling weird and then thee next thing she remembers was me at her bed and she didn't know how she got there---she had actually walk over to me, told me she didn't feel good and I took her to her room and she said she was wanted to lie down...so she did. She is on Lamictal 75mg...low dose and was on Topamax prior but she was losing her short term memory on that.
600 mg of Neurontin 3 times a day 150 mgs of Topamax (for headaches) 10 mgs of Ambien (Sleep) 1 mg Reqip (restless legs) 2000 IU of Vitamin D3 (due to low levels) 0.625/1.
They started me on diamox and topamax, eyes cleared up but headaches never went away. In fact, they got worse. All they did was give me pain pills to ease them. Now my eyes are still proven to be fine, and I'm still on the meds but new symptoms have started: pain behind my eyes, weakness of my right arm and leg and now I have dizzy spells (more like going from sober to full drunken state in a matter of ten seconds) to the point where I can't pick up my head or move at all.

Can you ask your doctor to give you diamox to see if this will help with stmptoms? You might want to ask abut Topamax I see alot of people on the PTC site are on it and seem to do pretty good they might call it dopamax because I heard it causes drowsiness. My neuroligist wants to put me on it but I am going to try to get pregnant after all this testing is done and he said it is not safe for baby, so I decided to wait and take advil.
