topamax

470964 tn?1240246255 About nine months and 2 miscarriages later, I decided that I really needed to be back on anti-depressants, so he put me back on Zoloft 100 mg/day as well as Topamax 50 mg/day for migraines. The Topamax has been working wonders for my migraines, and the Zoloft seemed to be working at first, but lately something doesn't seem right. I am not emotional, like crying, but I'm more angry, which was an issue before the Topamax, but I was able to control it better.
470964 tn?1240246255 t remember if you took the Zoloft, then just wait until the next day and resume normal dose. Zoloft has a very long half life and your system will not miss a beat by skipping a day. Just don't double up and try to play catch up. You can't catch up with these meds. Just resume normal dose the next day. I think most of us that take AD medication have forget a dose or two. Seriously, it not a big deal.
Avatar f tn Hi, The affordable alternatives to Lyrica are -Neurontin ,Topamax and Cymbalta. Since you have had no relief from Topamax, you can try the other two . if still you feel no better ,please consult your neurologist to suggest an alternative.Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !

Avatar n tn I think it was the combination of going off of the Zoloft and starting on the Topamax that caused the weight loss. I recently was prescribed Abilify and started gaining weight immediately. I stopped taking it. Good luck!
Avatar f tn t like the bupropion as much as Zoloft but had to stop it bc I ate so much on the Zoloft. Is there anything someone could recommend to make me loose weight along with taking Zoloft?
Avatar n tn Can topamax and zoloft cause elevated TSH levels indicating hypothyroidism? Would taking levothyroxin cause any additional problems.
1276940 tn?1564515084 Hi! I am the one you answered the question for about the possible Papilledema......well I have another question......I am currently on a few routine meds......they include: Topamax, Zoloft & Abilify. I was wondering if me taking the Topamax (or any of the other meds) would possibly cause me to have the possible Papilledema? I have been on it for almost 2 years now and the possible Papilledema was not seen during last years eye exam....... Thank you so much in advance!
1276940 tn?1564515084 Topamax 200 mgs daily......Zoloft 250 mgs daily........Elavil 50 mgs daily. I also take Klonopin PRN & Vistaril PRN. I also have Sjogren's Syndrome (dx 4/22/16) I take Plaquenil 400 mgs daily......Evoxac 90 mgs daily. I have been Bipolar for 14 years, and I have been on a lot of meds. But this current cocktail I have been on for about 3 years now and haven't had a med increase in at least 18 months.
2932946 tn?1344722012 Hi...well I can say that TOPAMAX helps greatly in changing the type of HA u get and once in a blue moon when needed Ibuprofen does help.....I know u do not want meds, I didn't either but I have not had my TOPAMAX since b4 Christmas and I am going nutz as I had HA's all under control.... U may want to see what may be causing ur HA's...for me I know it is my EDS and instability and TCS.....once u know it may be easier to know how to deal with it...
Avatar f tn s trying to lower my nacrotic pain medicines, so he put me on Cmybalta, tizanidine, and now trying Topamax. Anyhoo, are of you on these similar medications? And if you are are you having similar time side effects? If you did how long did they take for them to go away? Or did they! Was you able to sleep? Was you able to lose any weight? I hope that if your taking Topamax it will work for you!! Any comments will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!!!
Avatar f tn I'm currently on 300 bupropion, along with topamax 100 and still have had no weight losse. I just started the 300 bupropion after being on 150 last week and have already had crying spells but this was the week of my period so I was thinking I just could be "emotional". Before I was on Zoloft 25-150 bupropion but I ate to much on it, I'm hoping for weight loss but every antidepressant I take makes me eat what to do I do??
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply. She was on Topamax and Pristiq for about 4 years, for depression and anxiety. Last spring her Dad and I noticed bazaar behavior starting, horrible mood swings, not just teenage hormones, but violent outburst, self harm (she's been a cutter since she was 14, and had stopped for a good two years) she was loosing all her friends because of her moods.
614508 tn?1265281722 Lithium, Zoloft, Ativan. Any advise would be welcome.
Avatar f tn Which is going to probably be a follow up question to this one. I am currently prescribed and take 200mg Topamax a day as a mood stabilizer along with 200mg zoloft. I often wonder if the Topamax might have anything to do with it. I was also recently diagnosed with vitamin B12 deficiency anemia. My blood panel didn't show anything wildly out of the ordinary other than that. What might cause something like this to happen? I take care of my teeth.
1276940 tn?1564515084 I should mention that I am Bipolar and I take several meds to help control it.....they include: Abilify, Zoloft, Klonopin & Topamax.....I noticed something new.....my right heel tingles & then goes numb......it only lasts for about 4 or 5 minutes then it's gone like it never even happened. I do experience tingling toes from the Topamax but I have never had my heel tingle then go numb! I have been on Topamax for over 1 1/2 years now.....
Avatar m tn Hello. The shakiness could be a side effect, if it continues or becomes especially troubling. As far as alcohol use, be VERY careful. Most antidepressants carry a warning against mixing with alcohol as in some people the combination can be unpredictable. This is probably more an exception than the rule, but I had an episode many years ago in which I drank on prozac and became violently agitated.
454371 tn?1221297385 Serotonin syndrome is a life-threatening drug reaction that causes the body to have too much serotonin, a chemical produced by nerve cells. Causes Return to top Serotonin syndrome most often occurs when two drugs that affect the body's level of serotonin are taken together at the same time. The drugs cause too much serotonin to be released or to remain in the brain area.
Avatar f tn I've tried Topamax and had really great results with all of my disorders - bulimia, drinking, depression. It even caused me to lose weight, which I loved of course. The side effects, however, can be pretty rough. Go to www.mywayout.org for more information or just google topamax. My Way Out is mostly for drinkers because topa has shown to be very helpful in that area. The worst side effect for me on topa was feeling extremely irritable.
Avatar f tn At 9 1/2 my daughter complained of blurred vision when trying to focus on small print. Shortly after, she developed severe biological depression, which unfortunately was treated with Zoloft without realizing she had Central (hypothalamic) hypothyroidism. The blurred vision turned out to be due to far-sightedness, and when trying to focus up close, the left eye drifted to the left. This is corrected with prismatic reading glasses.
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
Avatar f tn celexa, zoloft, paxil, just to name a few. He was also given midrine and perscribed topamax but was so expensive we were unable to purchase it and after some of the things I've read about the eye problems I'm not sure if I want him to try it. He did have an MRI but there were no signs of tumors and such. Does anyone have any suggestions? He does take Hydrocodone for the pain but it barely takes the edge off.
Avatar f tn I started at 25 and I felt more nervous and jittery and strted to get weird thoughts of hurting myself and others. I would get more anxious at these thoughts and feel so guilty and shamed. They bumped me up to 50mg and for 2 weeks I felt great...but going into the third week I was more depressed and the obssessive thoughts continued. They bumped me up to 75 mg and it slowly got worse. I went to the doctor and she told me to go back down to 50mg which i have been on for 4 days now..
1276940 tn?1564515084 I am a soon to be 42 y/o (on 4/17) who is currently undergoing testing for Sjogren's Syndrome. I am sero negative so I will be undergoing a lip biopsy soon. I do have a positive RF tho. My Vit D level way 14 at least testing (Feb 2016) I am on 50,000 IU once a week & 1,000 IU a day. I have this brown skin in between my breasts. In my cleavage. It doesn't itch, or burn or anything really. I have noticed it there for the last 6 months or so and to me, it seems to be getting darker.
Avatar f tn I am glad you are at least getting the support of a Celebrate Recovery group, but am sorry you are not able to get "formal therapy" right now. It's really great though that you are taking the initiative to go to that group though. That's a big step in itself that you are doing it for yourself you know? Do you have insurance by chance? I know that's a bit of a personal question but insurance does usually help with therapy and such.
Avatar f tn She has been taking Topamax similar to your schedule. She was on 75mg since 2002 and we have noticed a reduction in the amount of Maxalt she needs to take since that time. At her last visit, her Neurologist recommended progressing to 100mg daily. So after eight years she will do so. It seems to have had a positive effect so far in reducing the number of migraines. But one migraine is to many in my opinion. It will be important for you to find what your triggers are.
Avatar f tn I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.
5857909 tn?1375628784 I have reduced quite all my medication and I feel like slowly back to being the person i used to be I am currently taking only 50mg of Topamax and I can say that the pain disappeared almost completely and the goal is to be free of this medicine at year end. Also I have feelings of anger, because I think I've been taking Topamax for over 10 years without any sense. I think I have found what was the source of all my chronic pain and Topamax was not helping me at all.
