topamax

I had a brain scan to and electroves to see if they were seizures and it came back negative, so I kept on taking topamax the dr. then added 25mg more to the presc and i started getting really bad eye pressure and felt really dizzy; i refused to take the 4th 25mg and the dr. tried to assure me it wasnt the topamax.
There is one called Follicle Booster which is expensive, but helps a lot. And drink tons of water. topamax is dehydrating and water will help the tingling sensations you get, along with the brain fog that comes with it. A couple of gallons of water a day will help. That's a lot, but you'll notice the difference. Plus you need to replenish your electrolytes with an occasional sports drink. Again, speaking from experience here. Good luck!
There is hope so hold on and take that topamax. Helps head aches, some nerve pain and great side affects....
until I was put on water pills for the urination, I was so bloated and still drinking water and got hyperneutremia (sp?) a couple of times; my electolytes were a mess. I have awful tingling in my extremeties to the point of feeling like something's crawling under my skin, and I've also experienced the problems I'm hearing about with losing words and short-term memory.
During those 4 weeks I gained all the weight back, I had major water retention and swelling and my depression got worse.I tried every natural alternative on the planet and when i got tired of being so angry and suicidal, i went back to the hospital. The doctors immediately put me back on the medication.I have been back on wellbutrin for 2 weeks now and I started topamax again 2 days ago.
I'm having some water retention with the 25mg of topamax that I'm on (I was on 75 but cut back to 25), and I feel crummy. The thought of being on anything that has the slightest possiblity of making me gain weight is just too overwhelming. I'd love to hear from others experiences. Anybody else out there?
No mention of female inability to orgasm, no mention of male ejaculatory failure, no mention of sexual anhedonia or sexual anesthesia in both men and women and no mention of loss of libido or sex drive in both men and women. All the consumer of modern antidepressants is being told is that there maybe some poor sexual performance. This is meaningless, unfair and disingenuous. But unfortunately, it gets much worse.
Also i puree fruit and put it in ice cube trays it is an extra boost to water as well i also drink ginger ale 3 a day (cans) i am 200 ponds now and i am 5 foot 3 also to get yourself used to walking like i did my initial work out was walking down my driveway and to the door 2 times a day.
I've thought maybe it was depression, but it's like you say, one day I'll feel normal, just fine, and the next I'm having the facial pressure/pain, getting sick at my stomach because of it, head feeling lopsided and can't walk straight. I use the hot water bottle on my face to relieve pain, too, and the ENT said that was fine. My husband's always fussing - thinking that's making me worse. But it does help. I go for the allergy testing next Monday. I'll post again.

With the lithium I am now excericising regularly including hard work outs with kickboxing, walking and gym. I haven't lost any weight and am thinking it is mainly water retention from the lithium . I am now on 250mg of lithium and zeldox since a reduction in dec 2010 but still no weight loss. Help !!! any tips on reducing the effects of the fluid retention!
Afterwards he handed me a tissue and I told hia that I had to bind what it was$that is causing the everyday misery that I deal with. He dx me with Migraine and prescribed topamax and Neurontin the last visit I was there @ 2 wks. ago. Well, I have to say I do like the Neurontin batter than Lyrica, bc it made me$blow up like a nalloon...I am tmlking 80+lbs. I eat 500 calories a day (lean meat) and one vegetable and one fruit. I try to drink 128 oz of water/diet soda a day. I feel great. Would love to hear other stories. Also, does anyone know of a clinic in Atlanta, GA that does the same?
Try to elevate your legs above your heart while lying down, exercise your legs, wear support stockings and follow a low-salt diet, which may reduce fluid retention and swelling. If it persists, check with your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care always.
Oh yeah, I have suffered from recurring swelling from water retention in my legs and feet since I was a teenager. No doctor has ever known what causes that. I steer clear of salt. The funny thing is that since I got the sore and painful leg muscles, I don't get the swelling in them anymore. Go figure.
I'm afraid that the Meniere's is acting up again or that the shunt is malfunctioning and may need to be replaced. Has anyone else experienced and or think that the Menieres is related directly or indirectly to the PTC??
From acid balance to zodiac signs, authors, experts, and even bloggers are trying to find the next hook to help you lose weight and help them sell books or advertisements on their websites. But we all know somewhere deep inside that much of the "secret" to losing weight safely comes down to two main concepts: Eat less. Do more.
Her last child was born with a very difficult glaucoma that had to be operated on at Duke at very short intervals, just weeks apart at a time, over and over and over. And I would ask after her because I just felt so badly that they were having to go through that, so hard with such a tiny little one. But her personality changed over the next year and a half or so and she became very umm...
I started with 180 and was moved to 240. After no relief from topamax and several other medications I was switched to Verapamil. Being on the 240 has worked wonders. I went from 1-4 migraines a week to MAYBE one a month now. Everyone has different triggers and tolerance as well. The medication also takes several weeks before you start seeing results. Good luck to you!
I will let you know. I am on Lyrica and have been for about a year. I am 47 and also been on topamax for my seizures as well. Too many other AEDs over the past 5 yrs to name . Did the Lyrica cause my "spot" on my MRI that wasn't there on my last mammogram in JUne of last year? Who knows? We will see what my biopsy reveals next Wed.
Weight gain started even at lower doses, however I was substantially underweight prior to using lyrica, so it didn't bother me initially. Fortunately at least some of that is water retention and it disappears fairly quickly. The rest requires serious exercise and diet, both of which have consequences for chronic pain sufferers. I'm currently off of lyrica in order to shed as many kilos as I can before the pain drives me back to it.
i know this probably doesn't help at the moment but try to relax, put cool rags on your face or even sit it cool water in the tub, and call your doctor and tell him your reaction. just know that even though panic attacks make you feel like you are going to die...you are not. please call your doctor...he may can help you over the phone.
I am on Haldol and topamax and I am losing weight. I have Bipolar 1 psychotic disorder and it helps me a lot. Haldol makes me lose my appetite and so does the topamax so I want to eat less. They both decrease my weight. It is another two to try. I lost 17, 18 lbs so far and I am working out at the gym. I agree that exercising is a really good thing. I know to stay on meds because I have a similar disorder to you, but it is bipolar with psychotic features.
I have just started eating a salad for supper and a bananna and only drinking water and still losing nothing. My Dr.l says that can't be. But my family and I know and the people I work with.To bad there is not a pill that can take it off as fast as that one put it on.
Unfortunately, a lot of health books with really good info have a paltry index, so it's almost impossible to go back and get the skinny on a problem that you remember reading about, but not the details, now that you need them---so frustrating and time consuming.) Consistent water retention can be a sign of adrenal weakness, so you might want to run through the adrenal gland info.
A more uncommon side effect is to lower your sodium, which can cause water retention and rapid weight gain. If this is happening (and you should get your doctor to check), you'll need to up your salt intake to balance things. Remember that you can only pack on so many pounds in a week of fat and muscle, and gaining a lot in a short period is often water, which is quite heavy. And you often have to try a drug for a couple of months to really see how it will work for you.
I have siezure disorder and they kicked up and went out of control (partial complex). I developed atypical migranes and ended up with much worse aphasia. While moving out of my temoporary home into the house I had bought I noticed a sore toe I had been nurseing and had been taking a antibiotic for was turning black. I had a friend take me to a emergency room in a larger city a hour away where my specialist are located. I figured i would be staying. They kept me.
I'm not sure if I should take it or not. One of the side effects could be weight gain or water retention. I'm already overweight and have mild diabetes. He prescribed this for my headaches and poor sleep. I also have fibromyalgia. I'm a mess LOL.
I've always held water and salt well, I have had problems with water retention in the past, and I am never thirsty, I have to force myself to drink fluids I'm obviously not in an adrenal crisis, but something is wrong when all my hormones are low and I feel like this and I've read that pituitary can be diagnosed with my thyroid labs only....
