topamax and vicodin

I've took Vicodin and Topamax. Vicodin made me not care about myself or my family. Topamax didn't seem to help at all.

progressively stop medications, especially lamictal and topamax, verapamil and vicodin.

I have to agree, sounds like your old doctors was screwing you up, topamax is a last resort drug for chronic migraines, not someone who gets them occasionally. if you only get them occasionally then you dont need to mess around with preventive medications if you dont have to. Especially topamax. I have chronic migraines and i've had to go on the topamax, but i HATE it. the side effects suck. but nothing else works.

I am on Duragesic pain patch, Ultram, Lortab 10 mg, and Lyrica 200mg. I noticed weight gain and swelling in my legs and feet with Lyrica and wanted to know if Topamax could replace Lyrica.

My 35 yr. old son has had almost constant headaches for over a year and a half. He has been to several "specialists" and the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago and Mayo Clinic in Mn. He is being treated with drugs, since MRI shows no tumors, etc. The drugs are not working. Vicodin does temporarily lessen the pain as does demoral. He cannot get anymore vicodin. He has never had an allergy test, the doctor at Mayo didn't think it was necessary. Any suggestions?

I had decompression surgery in 2009 but it didn't relieve the headaches all that much. I am now pregnant and the meds I was on before pregnancy (Topamax & Vicodin), of course I can't take now and Tylenol is not helping much at all. Just wondering if anyone else has been pregnant with chiari and how you got through the headaches. Also, were there any special precautions you had to take with the pregnancy?

Hi, The affordable alternatives to Lyrica are -Neurontin ,Topamax and Cymbalta. Since you have had no relief from Topamax, you can try the other two . if still you feel no better ,please consult your neurologist to suggest an alternative.Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !

Hi, may I ask what dosage of Topamax were u on...I tried to up my dosage and got worse, now that I am at the lowest dosage I am ok....just wondering if it was the dosage? And by pain r u talking headache's...some have all over pains...so I am asking to what end ur pain is. I am not a fan of meds either, so I understand where u r coming from.

I am glad you are at least getting the support of a Celebrate Recovery group, but am sorry you are not able to get "formal therapy" right now. It's really great though that you are taking the initiative to go to that group though. That's a big step in itself that you are doing it for yourself you know? Do you have insurance by chance? I know that's a bit of a personal question but insurance does usually help with therapy and such.

I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.

I have reduced quite all my medication and I feel like slowly back to being the person i used to be I am currently taking only 50mg of Topamax and I can say that the pain disappeared almost completely and the goal is to be free of this medicine at year end. Also I have feelings of anger, because I think I've been taking Topamax for over 10 years without any sense. I think I have found what was the source of all my chronic pain and Topamax was not helping me at all.

I've been taking Topamax for about 2.5 months and since then noticed some issues with my left eye. Within a month of being on Topamax my left eye seemed very dry, so I thought I was suffering from allergies (which I do have). I purchased some over the counter allergy eye drops, which caused my left eye to dilate, which scared me. Being cautious, I went to see a optician for a basic check up because I know about the possible Glaucoma complication with Topamax as well.

Has anyone ever responded to the original questions posted in 2010? I am curious. I have been taking 300 mg Wellbutrin and 200 mg Topamax since May 2016 and have lost approx 30lbs. I wasn't aware of the side affects and my doctor said as long as I feel fine there is no reason to run tests. I just want to make sure others are having this same significant weight loss.

All of a sudden, I have experienced joint pain and stiffness. I found out that topamax can lead to these side effects. however, I have gradually gone off the topamax and have quit taking it for approximately 4 - 5 days. Today I am still stiff (shoulders, knee, wrist and ankles) and my ankles are swollen. Do you think this is still a side effect of Topamax in my system?

Anyway, I am taking Imitrex for my migraines. Well, I had problem with script to fill Imitrex medicine couple years ago.... it only supplys 9 and only covers one any type of migraine medication PER month. When I ran out of it, I asked my doctor to give me script for more Imitrex and I dropped script off at Walgreens then few minutes later, pharmacist told me that insurance was not covering that...

I just logged on here at 3 am to see if anyone else had these symptoms with this drug. my legs and arms are numb and like needles and pins, I have diahrrea and nausa every day and food dosen't tast good at all. I itch all over which is keeping me awake. I am going to stop taking it. can't call the doc till monday, but can't stand this either. good luck to you.

She had me do a headache calendar, My triggers are my period,allergies, and barometric pressure. It is trial and error with medications. Topamax was suggested I have not tried it since Immitrex works fine for me. Beta blockes are used as well. I try to use Alieve first. I do not use medications all the time due to the rebound affect.

I reacty badly to many meds and stated one tab a day of the wellbutrin 9 days ago, the last 5 days the tremors in my hands and body have just increased and increased. Doc just told me the wellbutrin could very well be causing it- too bad i took my pill already this morning. I don't know how i'm going to face anyone today shaking like this!

Hi everyone! I was just released from the hospital and I have Pseudo Tumor Cerebri and ICP. I am 33 year old female and never had a headache problem so this constant pain *****:( I know that Topamax won't treat a headache but helps to prevent... But I wanted to hear if anyone had any positive experiences with Topamax? Today is only my second day and I've only noticed mild dizziness. Any major side effect experiences? Thanks a bunch!!

hello, anyone on topamax? I've been on it for about five weeks and its been great for my migraines but I've been having a lot of side effects! like tingling in my hand and feet and really bad heart burn every day! also get moody and cry. very bad fatigue too. will any of this go away???

Hi....TOPAMAX is not the type of Drug to take and then stop and take again, as it takes 2 weeks to adjust to the med.....and during that time u will feel foggy and extremely tired if u r nething like me, u may have anxiety bcuz u have a fear of the med...I took it and the only issue I had was during the 2 week adjustment period,...and when I stopped them and I was taking them everyday for a few yrs I got headaches nothing else.....

I've been taking Topamax 50mg-100mg daily and I have been also taking Yasmin. The two were told to me to be ineffective when used together, so I've been using a back up method of condoms. I'm unhappy with this so my OBGYN switched me to Zovia, which I do not like. My question is, could YAz and Topamax at 50-100mg, be taken together?

I read on another FM group that someone was on Topamax which you can also check there. I asked my Dr. and went on it and Voila' migraines have been gone now for 5 years. I have heard other success stories with TOPAMAX. Fentanyl, is that the pain patch? I have heard many good things about that, if I have the name right. I hope I have helped you with your question. m at the Neurologist. He says I have a Migraine disorder (duh) and puts me back on Topamax. 2 days later I had a grand mal seizure. It was the first seizure I've ever had in my life. I had at least 1 seizure (most petit mal) every day for a week. I went in for an EEG and had a grand mal right at the end of the test. It turned out not to be an epileptic seizure. My neuro scheduled me for a long-term video EEG, and then suddenly the seizures stopped...
