Hair loss is an uncommon side effect of both topamax and phentermine. I am wondering if prescribing topamax for ddd is common among neurologists? I can't seem to find any other information related to topamax as a pain med, only information I have is that it's a powerful drug with lots of side effects, most not so good. The weight loss aspect is the only plus...
I was prescribed topomax and phentermine in a weightloss study. I was also a sophomore at university at the time. The phentermine was great, but the topomax, which I took in the afternoons made me forget words and phrases I wanted to use, ... you know, you just can't find the words for what you want to say.

The topamax effects my concentration slow I cut it down to 25 mg. Will this new dosage combo still work? Also, can I take the topamax at night and the phentermine during the day and have it still be as effective? Very confused and frustrated.....

I have degenerative disc desease, osteoarthritis, gout and fybromialgia. From what I have been reading Topiramate may help these conditions as well. There is one called Follicle Booster which is expensive, but helps a lot. and drink tons of water. topamax is dehydrating and water will help the tingling sensations you get, along with the brain fog that comes with it. A couple of gallons of water a day will help. That's a lot, but you'll notice the difference. Plus you need to replenish your electrolytes with an occasional sports drink. Again, speaking from experience here. Good luck!
I had a gastric bypass in 2001 and lost 250 pounds, then my husband and I started fertility treatments and it made me gain 85 pounds back that I could not get rid of even only eating 4 oz of food at a time. On Valentine's day I started the phentermine and B12 shots and after 1 week I had lost 9 pounds and my energy was outrageous.
Did you know there are 900 fat calories in one large order of fries alone?! He perscribed phentermine, topamax, and the HCG shots. He gave me the option of all 3 or just the ones I wanted, but I want rid of this burden so load me up! I figure I can always eliminate them if they don't work out. The phentermine completly kills my appetite. I'm on an "off" month right now to let my body rest from it(doctor's orders).

I am definitly in a better mood and don't find myself shoving food in my mouth every waking moment.
I started back on my topamax. I just got off phentermine. My Dr.
I was given topamax for curbing my appetite ... Id rather have phentermine but docs don't want to prescribe it any more, due to dangers. Ive taken it before lost 50 pds in 5 mths in the summer excercises and sweating profusely, then within 3 yrs blowed back up , even bigger than Ive ever been, Im miserable, I have a appetite problem where I cant control it, don't know why. Im thinking its hyperthyroid problem. I don't want to do those otc diet pills, don't work and make me jittery and stutter.

I believe the stressors along with mood problems from the phentermine totally exacerbated my depression and I was a wreck...a size 9/10, but a moody mess. In July I went to the doctor and was prescribed Effexor XR 37.5 and had stopped the phentermine. The Effexor helped tremendously even though I was only on the lowest dose. Basically, I stopped crying all the time and wasn't so anxious and irritable. Everything improved. Initially I had some difficulty sleeping and nausea, but this subsided.
Does anyone know of a good doctor in the Greensboro, NC area who will prescribe adipex (phentermine) or bontril or tenuate? I need to lose about 35 lbs. and am also on other drugs - cymbalta and topamax. I want to do this safely and want a dr. who will help safely monitor the use of the appetite suppressants. I have tried Weight Watchers and I exercise, but I just cannot seem to get this post baby weight off and need help!
Well, I take topamax , synthoid and vitamin D and don't get nausea from any of them. But I'm sure it isn't from the synthroid and I doubt from the vitamin D. The topamax could be causing this. What dose are you on? There are better anti nausea meds you can try. I just switched to Trokendi XR (which is extended release topriamate). It has helped a lot with my memory issues but it initially caused a lot of fatigue but that is going away. It is expensive but they give you a coupon card to start.

But the fog is still here and has not gone away.
