1134609 tn?1269272200 I am Type 2 Bipolar and currently take 200mgs of Lamictal, 900mgs of Neurontin, and 1.5mgs of Klonopin. My doctor and I will be weaning off of the Klonopin within the near future as we don't feel that it is medically necessary. I don't mind the Neurontin as I have been on and off of it for years. We are looking at just using the Neurontin and the Lamictal. However, a recent family even has gotten me wondering; would the Lamictal be a good enough mood stabilizer for me alone?
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Topamax. Have you heard of the med call Topamax? Thanks.
Avatar f tn You should be able to get the generic topamax at any Walmart pharmacy. If anxiety or stress are the root problem for his migraines, it would be very important to identify what the stressors are and try to eliminate them. I would suggest that he try the topamax before any anxiety medication. Klonopin and its generics can lead to addiction problems and it dosen't take many daily doses to get to comfortable with it.
1276940 tn?1564515084 I should mention that I am Bipolar and I take several meds to help control it.....they include: Abilify, Zoloft, Klonopin & Topamax.....I noticed something new.....my right heel tingles & then goes numb......it only lasts for about 4 or 5 minutes then it's gone like it never even happened. I do experience tingling toes from the Topamax but I have never had my heel tingle then go numb! I have been on Topamax for over 1 1/2 years now.....
1276940 tn?1564515084 As far as my PRN meds are concerned, I only take them when I absolutely need them. I take the Vistaril first and try to save the Klonopin for bedtime. I am also currently being tested for Sjogren's Syndrome. I have an appt with my Rheumy om 4/1 to go over blood work result and possibly for a lip biopsy. I have CHRONIC dry mouth everyday since 2016 began. My Vit D was tested late Feb 2016 and it came back at 14. So I am taking 50,000IU weekly and 1,000IU daily.
Avatar f tn m on so many anti depressants and anti anxiety medications, including rispedal, neurontin, clonodine, citalopram, klonopin, topamax, trazadone, and Wellbutrin. I KNOW that this is a ton of medication, but I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks. I've had it ever since I was 21 and now I'm 43. I was wondering if I could try introducing natural herbs into the mix slowly, like valerium or camomile?
1276940 tn?1564515084 I am a soon to be 42 y/o (on 4/17) who is currently undergoing testing for Sjogren's Syndrome. I am sero negative so I will be undergoing a lip biopsy soon. I do have a positive RF tho. My Vit D level way 14 at least testing (Feb 2016) I am on 50,000 IU once a week & 1,000 IU a day. I have this brown skin in between my breasts. In my cleavage. It doesn't itch, or burn or anything really. I have noticed it there for the last 6 months or so and to me, it seems to be getting darker.
Avatar f tn You might have Crohns disease but it could be a food allergy or something else. It is good to get the colonoscopy done. I had one so far. It is good if you can have the one where they give you pills instead of the drink to clean you out. Maybe you can call ahead and find out who does that. Regarding the wavy lines (aura) and headaches following they do sound like migraines. You should see a neurologist for this. They can do a electroencephalogram to see if you do.
Avatar f tn Psych: Effexor XR, Topamax, Lexapro, Seroquel, Trazadone, Xanax (prn) Other: Aciphex (GERD), Detrol (Urinary issue), Evoxac (Sjogrens), Levoxyl (Thyroid), Oxycotin (pain), Plaquenil (Lupus), Provigil (alterness), Vicodin PRN (pain), 3 tropical ointments, 8 OTC vitamins/minerals 12 Rx daily (over 20 actual pills, some as many as 4x/day) 3 topicals 2 PRNs 8 OTCs Do I win? I never win anything, so, maybe in my loss of health, I can win in the number of meds I take!
Avatar f tn I am glad you are at least getting the support of a Celebrate Recovery group, but am sorry you are not able to get "formal therapy" right now. It's really great though that you are taking the initiative to go to that group though. That's a big step in itself that you are doing it for yourself you know? Do you have insurance by chance? I know that's a bit of a personal question but insurance does usually help with therapy and such.
Avatar f tn I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.
5857909 tn?1375628784 I have reduced quite all my medication and I feel like slowly back to being the person i used to be I am currently taking only 50mg of Topamax and I can say that the pain disappeared almost completely and the goal is to be free of this medicine at year end. Also I have feelings of anger, because I think I've been taking Topamax for over 10 years without any sense. I think I have found what was the source of all my chronic pain and Topamax was not helping me at all.
975514 tn?1324997938 I've been taking Topamax for about 2.5 months and since then noticed some issues with my left eye. Within a month of being on Topamax my left eye seemed very dry, so I thought I was suffering from allergies (which I do have). I purchased some over the counter allergy eye drops, which caused my left eye to dilate, which scared me. Being cautious, I went to see a optician for a basic check up because I know about the possible Glaucoma complication with Topamax as well.
Avatar f tn It may be useful to mention that I take medications for this condition called Topamax and Klonopin, however I have been on these medications for about 8 months now so my neuro doc doubts that they are causing any new side effects. Sooooo...... I have had chronic diarrhea for about two months now, along with bloating, cramping, and the feeling of always having to go. In the last couple weeks I have noticed small amounts of dark red blood in my stool.
587787 tn?1218804459 I have had several friends ask if I have been checked for cancer. I know the Topamax makes you lose weight, and my dr is aware of that. I need help with the neck and head pain. I cant stand this. It is really taking a toll on my life.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever responded to the original questions posted in 2010? I am curious. I have been taking 300 mg Wellbutrin and 200 mg Topamax since May 2016 and have lost approx 30lbs. I wasn't aware of the side affects and my doctor said as long as I feel fine there is no reason to run tests. I just want to make sure others are having this same significant weight loss.
Avatar n tn All of a sudden, I have experienced joint pain and stiffness. I found out that topamax can lead to these side effects. however, I have gradually gone off the topamax and have quit taking it for approximately 4 - 5 days. Today I am still stiff (shoulders, knee, wrist and ankles) and my ankles are swollen. Do you think this is still a side effect of Topamax in my system?
Avatar n tn m at the Neurologist. He says I have a Migraine disorder (duh) and puts me back on Topamax. 2 days later I had a grand mal seizure. It was the first seizure I've ever had in my life. I had at least 1 seizure (most petit mal) every day for a week. I went in for an EEG and had a grand mal right at the end of the test. It turned out not to be an epileptic seizure. My neuro scheduled me for a long-term video EEG, and then suddenly the seizures stopped...
Avatar f tn I just logged on here at 3 am to see if anyone else had these symptoms with this drug. my legs and arms are numb and like needles and pins, I have diahrrea and nausa every day and food dosen't tast good at all. I itch all over which is keeping me awake. I am going to stop taking it. can't call the doc till monday, but can't stand this either. good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Amblify they took me off in January no problem. Well I am no doctor by far means. But I know what to mix with what. I was put on Topamax in January With Celexa. I also have a thyroid problem since I was 9 years old. I have had enough of all these doctors telling me things. They added Klonopin Ambian. Hello Celexa causes insomia not supposed to be mixed with other meds. Any ways my question is I have finally weagned off Celexa YAY!!! after I told my doctor I was coming off it.
Avatar f tn If anxiety is the most important element, ask your doctor to prescribe low doses of klonopin, and stay off the antidepressants that have the side effects you mentioned...and seriously considered talking to a professional...you would be surprised at how quickly you might settle this matter.
Avatar n tn My doctor swithced my meds to Zoloft, Serequel, Anfranil, Klonopin, and Proprnolol for my anxiety and OCD. My OCD is finally under control but now all I do is obsess about my weight. It is really impacting my social life. I currently take 25mg of topamax in the morning and 50mg at night. I have been on it for 3 weeks and haven't seen any weight loss or side effects. Each week I will increase my dose 25mg. Does anyone have any advise for me. Does this topamax really help people loose weight.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I was just released from the hospital and I have Pseudo Tumor Cerebri and ICP. I am 33 year old female and never had a headache problem so this constant pain *****:( I know that Topamax won't treat a headache but helps to prevent... But I wanted to hear if anyone had any positive experiences with Topamax? Today is only my second day and I've only noticed mild dizziness. Any major side effect experiences? Thanks a bunch!!
Avatar m tn hello, anyone on topamax? I've been on it for about five weeks and its been great for my migraines but I've been having a lot of side effects! like tingling in my hand and feet and really bad heart burn every day! also get moody and cry. very bad fatigue too. will any of this go away???
