topamax

4175869 tn?1351113817 I remember having it and I just happen to be at the NS talking with the NP and I was telling her symptoms and I said facial numbness and I said I have it now, and she said I know I can see it, as ur face is sagging a bit on the left....that is where it was numb....no one else had mentioned to me b4 that my face looked different, but she said the said I felt it on b4 I could and she said it is typical with those she/.they see with chiari.
Avatar n tn Symptoms have lifted completely as of Dec. 5,2008 with exception of facial numbness and sore neck/shoulder. Energy has returned, no nausea or muscle spasms, speech is normal. Could this be complications of Lyme? I have had no medications and neurologist is suggesting a new MRI in Jan. Neurologist also suggested this was a stress reaction although nothing of distinction can be noted. Lyme titer ordered by primary was negative on 11/3/08.
998260 tn?1277731559 I am ok with topamax, but it has side effects - all of them do. I tried all of them - and for me, topamax had the least, but every one is different and you have to do what you can. Work up to a dose - and take the least amount that helps you the most. I used to take a smaller amount, but had to increase it. It may be best to see a neurologist. There are also surgeries - but that may not be best for you since yours was caused by an injury so it may be difficult to isolate the nerve.
Avatar f tn The numbness was MAINLY left sided on my face but I did have it in my right cheek and eye and my entire neck. I have a history of Rathke's Cleft Cyst which they found when I was 16 during a routine MRI for my migranes. They determined it was not growing after 3 MRI's but it has not been checked in 7 years and is extremely close to my optical nerve.
Avatar f tn m having post Op Migraines. He gave me Topamax to control them. Unfortunately I had serious side effect to topamax and had to stop taking them after only 2 tablets. I am now too scared to take any other medicines. The headaches have been getting worse over the last 2 months and very bad the last 3 days but I am getting some relief right now :). Will be seeing the neurologist again after christmas. Will be interesting to see what he says, cos i really dont think im going to take medicines !
Avatar f tn (Just so you know, I cannot concentrate at all when I have a migraine that is an 8+/10 on the pain scale and I have difficulty concentrating whenever I have any migraine at all. I also suffer from the numbness thing and the facial paralysis/paralysis on one side of the body from time to time along with the migraines... a few other people on the boards do too... so, we're here to talk if you ever want to message us or anything! :) And... yeah...
Avatar n tn Flashing lights on the rightside, waving vision, and then resently it progressed to loss of vision for twenty minutes at a time in that right eye. Then on the Topamax that cleared up. Also I experienced numbness in my hands and feet with that. Do you think it is seizures or something else. Seizures is keeping me from getting insurance. So needless to say I am very interested in finding closure on this issue.
Avatar f tn Recently i have been having numbness at side and back of head whenever i feel excited for past 2 weeks. It happened about 10 times a day! This happened even during urination or after exercising. It feels like something creeping up my head and the numbness last 20 seconds. I feel alittle nausea. I did an MRI and it was ok. Could this be migraine or anxiety? I don't feel much pain. Recently my blood pressure went up to 140/70 for 2 weeks. I need your advice! Thanks!
1276940 tn?1564515084 t try Topamax before but what I know is numbness and tingling are some of Topamax side effects. It become less with time. Are numbness and tingling really bad? or u can handle it? Do you have any other side effects? How long to use it? Is Topamax useful as mood stabilizer and good for weight loss according to your experience?
Avatar m tn it started as a nagging mild headache and then in one incident flared up into a headache with symptoms similar to migraine, including blurred vision, facial numbness on the left side, and photophobia. elitriptan gave her some relief the first time, but then failed to work again. barbituates and hydrocodone give her some relief, but cannot eliminate the headache.
Avatar n tn Last year I had come in contact with the Flu virus once again and I developed TN in the left side. This time it was unrelenting and the pain would not stop. I was desperate to make it stop. No matter how much medication I took, it wouldn't touch it. I decided on a rhizotomy. I must tell you that it is not without risks. I woke up in more pain than I started and suffered a minor stroke 2 weeks after. I still can feel pain on the left side of my face. And I do get some tingly numbness.
Avatar f tn Common cold, sinusitis, ear infection, sensory nerve compression, peripheral neuropathy as in diabetes, inflamed wisdom tooth, impacted wisdom tooth etc can all cause facial numbness and pain. Hemi-facial numbness is also seen in Bell’s palsy, trigeminal neuralgia where a spasm may cause numbness, or due to acoustic neuroma which is a benign tumor of the eighth cranial nerve. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor.
Avatar n tn One week ago I suddenly experienced hearing loss and facial numbness on the right side of my head. I was sent for an MRI with contrast to check for acoustic neuroma. The test was negative and I still have no hearing and I still have the numbness. My physician is scratching his head as my symptoms don't fit other disorders. Any ideas? Thanks!
Avatar f tn However, over time and with the increase dose of 200 mg eventually I became aphasic, unable to recall recent events, numbness in my extremities and eventually lost my job due to the neurological symtoms. Now i am on Inderal or propranolol which is a beta blocker and only 80 mg and it helps the headaches without the side effects. Talk to your doctor and suggest it.
1353813 tn?1279249279 Facial nerve palsy is characterized by inability to close eye, loss of sensation on affected part, difficulty in speaking and mask like face on affected side because facial nerve innervates facial muscles and any damage to facial nerve may cause inability make facial expressions like smiling, frowning etc. Second possibility is Trigeminal neuralgia - neural pain of face with possible loss of sensation on the affected part of face but eye is seldom involved.
Avatar f tn My left nostril and eye, and left side of mouth also felt cold, and my left eye felt heavy and abit itchy/tingly. Even on the left side inside my mouth was numbish feeling, making it not hard but not as easy to eat. I had a bad taste in my throat and the pressure in my cheeks was mainly on the left side of my face. I went to the doctor and he gave me two scripts of Antibiotics (ceclor). He said the numbness sounded odd, but just go home and try the antibiotics.
Avatar m tn So I have left sided weakness, slurred speech, facial numbness, dragging left leg and turn foot inward. Smack my lips, tongue feels thick, rub face and head, short term memory loss, can't find the right word to say even when I can see the object, blurr vision in right eye and fatigue. Do not have the all symptom at once but sometimes and on 3 occasions the right side was affected too. Strength return within about an hour after episode ends or I get some rest.
Avatar m tn Diet modification and supplementation is a good alternative in decreasing the dosage and the associated side effects of certain medicatons such as topamax. Take care and best regards.
Avatar m tn things got so bad I went to the hospital and they done a ct scan and said they were going to treat me for migraines which I suffered with for a long time and I told them I was worried about the weakness and numbness and they seizure type episodes I could hardly hold myself up and if felt like a chore to walk upright.that was a little while ago and my bp went back to it's normal but I still have the episodes and the numbness and it feels like I have bugs walking all over my head.
Avatar f tn is topamax used to treat a back injury? everything that I reads say migraines, seizures, well I don't have seizures or migraines. I have a bad knee and I have a bad back. I started Topamax and it makes me feel so bad. The pain is worse than before? is this normal? my feet hand and vision are all affectative. Numbness in feet and hands, just plain can't see. blured vision. lousy feeling .
Avatar f tn I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.
Avatar f tn I have no lesions in my neck, but several in my brain, and have a lot of facial numbness as well as optic neuritis. My numbness extends down my neck on the right side, and all the way down my back - tapering off at the lumbar. It's possible I have lesions in the spine, but it hasn't been verified. There's a lot of nerves in the skull area - many people with MS present with facial paresthesia as their first symptom. I guess MS finds it easier to get to the head first.
Avatar f tn I definitely lost weight and I am little to begin with. Recently I went off of Topamax and have gained weight back for sure :( So the weight loss is one of the better side effects LOL. The biggest side effect for me was the hands and feet (and sometimes lips) tingling. Not all the time but especially in the beginning. Numbness too. They weren't bothersome enough for me to stop taking it, though. I hope it works for you.
284078 tn?1282616698 Fortunately, God was on her side because she was smart enough to stop the Topamax and go to the emergency room before she developed an attack of acute narrow angle glaucoma (symptoms severe eye pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, almost complete vision loss.) Her ocular pressure was actually only slightly elevated and with cessation of the Topamax, her pressure returned to normal in a day, while it took over a week for her vison to return to normal.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with severe anxiety symptoms for two years, and one of the most disturbing symptoms is the facial numbness, it occurs mostly in the right side of my face during long spells and anxiety and panic attacks. This week has been the worse, it even makes speech difficult and strange. At times i feel as if I am paralyzed in one side of my face and that this is a serious condition that may become permanent. Has anyone experienced the same symptoms ?
Avatar m tn But I have also a friend that had a surgery on head and then a nerve got hurt and she has a numbness and more problems related to that, she is doing some facial exercises (move all the muscles she can) and they say that the nerve will grow back. She is on the way to recovery. So what I am trying to say is dont worry for now, you should maby do face exercises to help your recovery. Because I would think that you have hit some nerve when you fell, so now it just has to heal.
1080243 tn?1262975363 Does anyone suffer facial numbness? I have left eye that is shut somtimes and parts of face and hand are numb. Fatigue and weakness is intermittant. Cannot hold arms up to dry hair they ache really bad. sometimes vision is affected. tarter.
388376 tn?1302011418 no more numbness in ear, less numbness in tongue...but not at all what I had expected...and it is decreasing dose...so I guess time will tell..... I have significantly less pain though....that helps.....
Avatar m tn I had decompression surgery in june and noticed my facial numbness has gotten more frequent. It comes and goes. Mainly when laying down and also noticed I drool a little. I was told by one neurologist I had Parkinson's and was told by another I don't. I also shake on my left side if I stand still for too long. Could all this be chiari related?
