284078 tn?1282616698 ) Her ocular pressure was actually only slightly elevated and with cessation of the Topamax, her pressure returned to normal in a day, while it took over a week for her vison to return to normal. It was extremely impressive the way the lens moved forward initially. After a week, the lens moved back to normal position and the eye looked completely different as if from another person. It was really something I will never forget.
975514 tn?1324997938 I have been to a opthamoligist and that was my first confirmation. And i went to my neroligist he also said Topamax was not the cause of my eye sight problems. And i have been takeing it for Eight years with no problems. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My eyes, nose, and everything else is dry to the point of I had to rush to the eye doctor (had extremely dry eye), nose sores that bleed, and now my hair is falling out. The doctor did hormone and thyroid test and just called they are normal. He put me on biotin for a month. Should I stop the topamax or go further with blood work since my family has problems. He said the biotin and a multivitamin should help but I have mood swings, constaption, headaches...just don't know? Any ideas.
Avatar n tn All of a sudden, I have experienced joint pain and stiffness. I found out that topamax can lead to these side effects. however, I have gradually gone off the topamax and have quit taking it for approximately 4 - 5 days. Today I am still stiff (shoulders, knee, wrist and ankles) and my ankles are swollen. Do you think this is still a side effect of Topamax in my system?
Avatar f tn My eyes became very dry (had no side effects on topamax the first time) and irritated, I read about glaucoma and was seen by a specialist the next day, he looked and pressure tests Etc and said there was inflammation and dryness, I stopped the topamax and the eye drops got the inflammation down over the next week. However ever since then I've felt the same as I did when this all first started.
Avatar f tn In my case, it did work well and Topamax brought my pressure down. It had an added benefit with headaches that I have as a bonus.

1415174 tn?1453243103 I was diagnosed with Blepheritis shortly after taking several meds (amitriptilyne, cyproheptadine and topamax) for my migraine and migraine associated veritgo. I may eventually get off of the two meds except for topamax. I am using baby shampoo in warm water and wiping my eyes and it has lessened the blepheritis. Is there any way to get rid of it permanently even while I am on these drugs and if not will it go away after I get off of the drugs?
Avatar f tn I take 100mg Topamax (actually I take the generic Topiramate) once per day. I've been on and off of this for a few years. But started taking the generic last year due to the insurance company making me switch. Anyway, when I switched to the generic, I have since started having a lot of pressure behind my left eye and into my cheek. Also, sometimes behind my right eye, but that's rarely. It's daily behind my left eye. This has been going on for a few months.
975514 tn?1324997938 You should get your thyroid checked again and see an eye doctor that specilizes in thyroid eye disease as well just to be sure. Thyroid eye disease is triggered by thyroid problems but follows it's own course...and becomes it's own disease.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I noticed my blind spot is larger and the vision in my left eye is really off. Objects appear further away and smaller than they really are. My neurologist has put me on Topamax, thinking that maybe this is a migraine with persistent aura without infraction. I'm going back to the eye specialist tomorrow to discuss new vision changes and have another visual field test. Can anyone please tell me if they've ever had anything similar?!
Avatar f tn every time i have one which is most of the time.. my right eye shrinks down.. and i have bad peripheral vision .. my doctor prescribed topamax.. i am wondering how long it would take too notice the affects???
Avatar f tn Another type is cluster headaches, which are sharp pains that occur around and behind the eye often at night and are associated with tearing of the eye and running of the nose. In primary stabbing headache, sharp or jabbing pain in the head occur, either as a single stab or a series of brief repeated volleys of pain. Primary stabbing headache often occurs in people with migraine. The pain itself generally lasts a fraction of a second but can last for up to one minute in some people.
Avatar m tn Saw brain and spine doc and did Mri and spinal tap.cerebral spinal fluid pressure was 23.5, Doc said if it was 24 diagnoses would be psudotumor,so he diagnosed migraines.Paced me on verapimil, and topamax, medicine doesnt help at all, still in extreme pain.If anyone can help me with suggestions or alternatives please help?
Avatar f tn I've had a constant headache which always starts in the back of my head and goes into my left eye. If I squeeze my head between my hands real tight it stops but only as long as my hands are there. It is so bad I can't do anything. I've tried motrin 800mg, topamax 200mg, vicodin 5/500, imitrex, frova and even antidepressants (zoloft and elavil). My doctor can't seem to figure this out and I can't keep dealing with the pain.
Avatar n tn Sometimes it feels like a wave of pressure and sometimes a stab. but generally its a dull on and off sensation and its very unsettling. It does not hurt, but it is there and it is not normal. I admit i have been in severe pain for months and I may not exactly remember what my "normal" head feels like, but i know it didnt feel like this. This pressure feels stronger if i lay down.
Avatar f tn Hi, Idiopathic intracranial Hypertension manifests with headaches .Eye problems arise due to compression and traction of the cranial nerves, a group of nerves that arise from the brain stem and supply the face and neck. Most commonly, the sixth nerve is involved. This nerve supplies the muscles that pull the eye outward. That is the reason you are unable to keep the eyes open . IIH may not lead to high blood pressure but the raised blood pressure may be due to the stress because of headaches .
Avatar f tn The EEG report suggested to consider complex partial seizures. I was placed on Topamax to which I had a bad reaction and was taken off after two weeks. I am now on Trileptal for now to see how my body tolerates that. WHatI need to know is if there are any other tests that can be run to confirm if in fact those spikes or discharges are complex partial seizures. The only physical manifestion I presented with was a tremor in my right arm.
1578551 tn?1318067910 and my eyes at times do hurt, but I do not have pressure....it is time to go back to the eye Dr, for a reg visit....and I am curious if they will see a change in my eyes this time, cuz I certainly notice a change.
Avatar n tn Brain fog, chatty kathy, spacey and just plain stupid, no appetite, tingling, and insomnia. I went from 50 to 75mg, 5 weeks later and 75 to 100mg 4 weeks later, working up slowly does help with the side effects. Over time I have found most of my side effects subside: I take it for nerve pain and complex migraines. Certain side effects have stayed: anything carbonated taste awful, tingling in hands and feet, small twitch in left eye for last week or so.
1276940 tn?1564515084 pain/pressure above my right eye. It is intense right off the bat! No throbbing......feels like a squeezing sensation kind of. It is VERY painful. But it only lasts less than 5 minutes......then it's gone just as fast as it came on! This has happened 3 times since Christmas 2016. Identical signs/symptoms all three times. I have been DX with Pars Planitis (eye inflammation) in both eyes back in 2015. I see my eye Dr every 6 months for dilation check ups to keep an eye on the inflammation.
