infection

Avatar f tn necrotic, then I would think that a root canal would be an advisable procedure. I had a necrotic tooth and an infection in my gum, an infection which did not clear up until a root canal procedure was performed.
Avatar f tn Well the appropriate treatment is a root canal most likely. If its too severe, it may need to be removed to relieve the pain. There's no real home remedy to fix it at this stage. It'll probably worsen over time and may potentially abscess. In some cases, the pain may stop because the nerve will die inside the tooth. But that indicates that the infection has spread deep into the tooth and it can continue to spread into the jaw bone, rest of the head, down the neck, etc.
Avatar f tn Tooth aches are the worst and I honestly would suggest you make effort to go to the dentist some doctors may give you a low income payment plan you might want to look into it.. but I have heard from my grandma in the past that if you put Warm Clove oil or if you can't find clove oil then put warm water and a couple of cloVes just to sit in your mouth for about 15 minutes 3 times a day.. when you're done Spit the water or oil out.

I had ONE tooth that bothered me. Wound up loosing FOUR because I didn't have it checked soon enough. Go by my example.

Avatar f tn Clove oil is a best home remedy which can help to reduce pain of bruised tooth. It has anesthetic and antibacterial properties. Soak a small amount of cotton with mixture of ¼ teaspoon of olive oil and 2 or 3 drops of clove oil, then put the cotton in your mouth near the brushed tooth. Caution: Don’t use at the bed time. Note: If it does not work, then contact your dentist as quickly as possible.

Avatar n tn During the last month, my chewing habits have changed, as I am await getting either a partial on the left or implant on the right. The tooth that is the root canal and the gum around that tooth is very swollen and so painful that most of the right side of my mouth is painful. Avatar m tn t mean the problem is solved, as the infection usually remains at the root of the tooth. If untreated in the long term, gumboils can cause tooth and even bone loss, as the infection dissolves the bone surrounding the root of the tooth.cure:Standard treatment of a tooth abscess is to drain pus and then disinfect and fill tooth, or remove tip of root (an apicectomy) if it cannot be disinfected, or take the tooth out.
Avatar n tn And was told the fractured tooth could be crowned but the adjacent molar showed signs of root infection, I had a root canal and crown done on the infected tooth about two years ago. My dentist is telling me that it will have to be extracted. Is there any alternative to extraction such as antibiotics?
920037 tn?1245169975 What is a good home remedy for a Super Painful Toothace?? I've tried salt water, packing it with cotton....PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Avatar f tn If you do have an infection, salt and water will not get rid of it. Home remedies may sooth the area, but the underlying problem must be treated to get permanent relief. If your last checkup was 4 months ago, another exam would be a good idea. A lot can change in 4 months.
Avatar f tn When I was pregnant with my daughter I got a horrible toothache, went to the dentist and they had to do a root canal! Might be your case! All I did was use Orajel like crazy!
Avatar m tn Hi Niko thanks for the input. My dentist said i have a dead front tooth due to the abcess, he said i should do a root canal or infection could repeat itself. thing is i have been oil pulling for a month now with coconut oil. i still have very little pain that happens once and awhile but looks like it could work. But i'm not sure if oil pulling will regenerate the tooth. I don't want a tooth extraction cause its my upper front tooth.
Avatar m tn There could be an infection that could be treated with antibiotics. That you never got a crown and the filling is cracked is telling. With a root canal, the metal filling is now stronger/harder than your tooth. Once it cracks there is opportunity for decay which loosens the filling even if ever so slightly. Over time, every time you chew you literally drive the filling down into your tooth like a wedge. It is possible to fracture your tooth which would cause pain like you described.
