Common Questions and Answers about Tooth infection cure

infection

Avatar f tn I’ve had a horrible taste coming from the tooth all day... is this the infection draining or is it the tooth pulp dying? Or both? My question here is it safe that I’m swallowing it? I assume it’s better than it being trapped but I’m still freaked out and now scared of sepcis. When will the antibiotics work? When should I go too the ER or call the dentist again? Am I being Overly dramatic and just need to let the antibiotics work and relax? Probably right?
Avatar f tn The cheapest way to eliminate dental infection is extraction. Going to dental school is probably the best way.
Avatar m tn m trying to figure out what it is, everyone I know say that a tooth infection is very painful, but I only experienced pain in the short period of time the gum was swollen and I haven't had any pain in the tooth itself.
623537 tn?1243564908 Absolutely! But this would mean the infection is severe. Is there anyone you can borrow the money from to get the root canal done? You have to be careful of tooth infections, as it can spread to the brain. This happened to a friend of mine, she had to go into the hospital, but all turned out okay. Don't want to scare you, but infections can travel, and fast. Maybe you could work out a payment plan with your dentist, but do something.
Avatar n tn ve read up on it, so will ask dentist if he can pack the tooth to give me some relief and cure the problem. Jaw is now yellow with bruising and jaw and ear pain really severe. Worst pain I've been in. Thanks for the advice anyway.
Avatar n tn I think the reason the tooth is mobile is because you still have an active infection present. The antibiotics will relieve the symptoms but will not cure the infection. That will be done with successful root canal therapy. You need to return to the dentist for further treatment.
Avatar n tn ive had about 3 tooth infections while preggo and the dentist gives me pills that will cure it...it is safe for u and baby..
Avatar n tn On Jan 10 I had a titanium post inserted into my # 30, a previous root canal tooth (from several years ago). The next day I was in pain, and the pain continued to worsen, including some pretty severe jaw pain. The dentist adjusted the bite, then assumed it was infection, so put me on 10 day penicillin. Nearing the end of that, I developed swelling on the outside gum, the dentist put me on 7 day clindamycin.
Avatar f tn I had a cleaning and when they were checking my filling in #3 there was apparently a crack and I received an infection. I was put on Amoxicillin and a root canal was performed on June 23, two days later an incision was made in the gum to clean out some of the infection, the next day a small hole was made in the upper gum to try and drain some of the infection. On July 1st I was sent to an oral surgeon who did a panoramic of my face and there was infection the size of a walnut up into my sinus.
Avatar n tn Will antibiotics stop the pain and perhaps the infection? Could antibiotics cure the entire problem all together? Are antibiotics a possible solution? I am scared to make a quick decision about something so serious. Please give me you advice, please. Thanks.
Avatar n tn the endodntist should check the vitality of the tooth before doing a root canal. if your "infection" (if that's what it was) was from the tooth, then all the antibiotics did was settle it down. it will come back if the tooth has a dead, dying, or infected nerve. If the tooth tests vital, and you have no pain, then i would not get a root canal done at this time.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately the sinus infection continued after the extraction and to make matters worse the tooth next to the extracted tooth is now giving me pain. X-rays of this tooth (last tooth before the wisdom) now show possible degradation in one of its roots. My questions are: Should I try another antibiotic to battle the sinusitis (eg Amoxycillin/Clavulanate 875/125mg) ? Could the sinus infection be causing a problem in the root of a perfectly good tooth? Will a CT scan help?
509857 tn?1211033004 the infection from a tooth abcess can go into your maxillary sinuses and cause sinusitis. An ENT is the best person to treat that. Tell your GP you have acute sinusitis and to refer you for that. It may take antibiotics over the course of several weeks to cure it.
Avatar n tn The antibiotics will control a clinical infection--that is to say if you have swelling or acute pain, but will not cure the infection under the tooth in the bone. This will require the necessary root canal therapy. During the therapy the doctor is in essence steralizing the inside of the canals to reduced the bacterial population that is present. In most cases that will be sufficient to heal the area. It is true that this can take some time.
1211396 tn?1266109519 m here because i have a infection above my top middle fang tooth and middle tooth. i know its an infection from having so many abcesses before. yet this 1 is diffrent. i woke up 1 day and my 2 front teeth where in agonizing pain, i know all about that, yet the pain went away the next 2 days and thats when the swelling kicked in. the whole right side of my face is still kinda swollen but not as bad. yet i still have the infection.
Avatar n tn I had a front tooth implant 8 years ago. For the last year a horrible smell has been coming from it. If I squeeze the gum above it it is really bad. If there was any part of a tooth underneath I would say it had rotten but there is nothing left under there! What is creating this smell? I brush 3 times a day, floss and use mouthwash. Can someone help?
Avatar n tn Hi, I need some advise regarding my teeth. I had a root canal done on my tooth 19th maybe about 3 years ago. 2 years ago my gum swelled because of pus & infection therefore the dentist did another root canal to remove the infection. I found out last sep. that there's some infection underneath that same tooth again, but because of some complication with insurance i didn't do anything about it till now. This time there's no swelling or pain or any sort of discomfort.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal on #14 due to a dead nerve. No infection was found. The endodontist drilled thru a crown that was on the tooth. One week later the left side of my face started swelling, my eye reddened and was tearing. I was put on Clindomyacin for an infection----that was now seen on the x ray. The antibiotic worked great, swelling & pain went away. Now that I am off the antibiotic---the pain is returning, left maxillary, eye pain & head aches---no swelling at this time.
Avatar n tn 1 month later, excruciating pain, face swelling. Informed by Dentist, root canal required, but first 1 week of Amoxicillin to cure infection. Infection appeared to be clear, with no adverse affects from antibiotic. Dentist started root canal, but did not complete. Placed medication in cleaned out tooth, and refilled. Prescribed another round of Amoxicillan and Vicoden for pain. Started the Amox again, and took a total of 2 1/2 500 mg Vicoden within a two day period.
4328950 tn?1352873336 If you do not know how to floss, it is better to leave it alone rather than incur more injury. Every one knows that precaution certainly is the best cure, but if you find yourself having pains in gums, jaws or any tooth sites, you must always go to a certified dentist who can take care of your situation and give you a good dental treatment.
Avatar f tn Well, here i am again, posting about my headaches. I am still having them. The tooth has been extracted for 2 weeks now. I am not having the pain when bending over now or moving....it's pretty constant now. It comes in waves and the pain is like a sharp shooting pain stemming from my left side inner nose up to my temple. I am so sick of this pain. I've been suffering since january 8th. I had the headaches as the original symptom and the tooth abscess was found on the CAT scan.
Avatar n tn The antibiotic will help the infection resolve, but chances are you have an abcess deep into the root of the decayed tooth. You are going to need to have the tooth removed to prevent the infection from returning.
Avatar n tn He has traveled to 42 countries so I suspect some kind of infection but the infectious disease doc says nothing shows up. Preantibiotics for the teeth, he did have one blood tests show high CED rate and also was told he had leaky heart valves. My question is what kind of disease, besides dental, could cause tooth abcesses, miniscus problems, fatigue, muscle soreness? I am very worried hope someone can help.
Avatar m tn Hi, I got a bride fitted on my top left side, it is 4 teeth and fits on the tooth next to the top left wisdom tooth, obviously that tooth was ground and made smaller for the bridge to fit on it, the tooth was absolutely healthy and fine, i have never had any problems with that tooth earlier, the day grinding took place that tooth became sore, very very sensitive and I had to get temp.
Avatar f tn In October I did Clindamycin for a tooth infection. I've had four reoccurrences of C Diff since. Antibiotics alone are not curing......Flagyl and/or Vancomycin Eat live yogurts, probiotics all inbetween occurrences. When not episodic with D, still feeling terrible, swollen abdomen, abdominal pains, chronic fatigue............. Now what?
Avatar f tn I this your rot canal doesn't work out and if have problem than fastly rushed to dentist otherwise you will have much more problem and there is a chance of infection so it's better to take cure and proper medication.
