Common Questions and Answers about Tooth infection bad taste

infection

Dear Fellow Dental Sufferer, Its not a question of whether a tooth infection will infect other teeth, something I personally have not heard of. Its a question of what are you doing to cut the infection. contrary to what people with medical terminology might say, you can do a great deal to undo dental infection. 1 Stop eating sweets of any kind. 2 Make some oregano tea. Bring pint of water to a boil. Turn off and place 1 tbsp of dried oregano leaves in the pot.
I recently treated my flu like symptoms with an antbiotic that I had left over from a tooth ache. The flu is gone, but now I have this awful taste and smell that seem to be forever etched into my sinuses. Could this be from the medication that I took, and what can I do about it? The smell is awfull.
I have had the same bad smell\taste in the mouth for over 6 months now. Couldn't figure out what the hell the problem was. Mine became so awful that the smell would literally funk up my entire office at work. Well, after having tonsils\adenoids removed, upper gi, lower colon splenoid or something done, and all kinds of other medical test ran. The culprit turned out to be a crown on the lower left molar tooth.
My filing is now loose and I know that it is going to fall out any time now. I have a bad taste coming from that tooth now. I beleive that I will eventually need that tooth to be extracted. Now I have developed an inner ear infection (with no pain in the left ear).that has caused me a great deal of discomfort and imbalance. My first experience was a spinning sensation and thereafter, dizziness and vomiting. I am on antibiotics and dizziness pills along with a cortisone shot.
I clean it and brush my teeth twice a day. I soak it overnight in denture cleaner. But one and ONLY ONE of the four teeth has a bad taste that comes from it. What is causing this?
For a couple of days the gum surrounding the tooth was swollen and painful to the touch, the swelling and pain went away, but it has been replaced by a rotten taste coming from the tooth that has been there for the past week. The taste has become milder but it's still there, the tooth itself is painless. I've been rinsing my mouth with vodka every night before bed to try to kill any bacteria that might be there.
Other than that there are many reasons for a foul taste in mouth such as medications, infection of gums or cavities in teeth, post nasal drip as in sinusitis, salivary glands infection, pharyngitis or strep infection, dentures and artificial tooth or filling of dental cavities, Sjogren’s syndrome and copper or lead toxicity, poor oral hygiene, diabetes, liver problems, vitamin B12 deficiency, and over consumption of fluoride which is commonly present in certain mouthwashes and toothpastes , cer
I piece of it broke off and for the past 4 days there has been a swelling in my gums that has been increasing daily. There has also been a bad taste and it becomes very painful if I do not take Ibuprofine (sp?) and now my ear on the same side has been clogged up. Does anyone know what's the matter with my mouth?
I am about to start the process of getting a new bridge completed. Before I do that I want to be sure that the cause of the bad taste isn't going to be 'sealed in.'- Post-surgery it was thought that heavy doses of antibiotics - to treat the abscess -- were the cause. But it's been six months since I stopped the antibiotics.
Why do I have bad breath and a bad taste in my mouth? I'm always brushing my teeth and gums everyday. I brush my teeth and gums so much that I make them irritated causing them to bleed including my tongue. After I finish brushing my teeth I noticed a white slimy like discharge in my mouth as if I'm allegeric to the tooth paste. I've been to the dentist before but I still don't know why I'm experiencing this problem. Its very embarrassing and I'm ashamed to talk about.
We placed an immediate implant @ #9 (Astra) which healed uneventfully for 4 months. Healing cap and then crown impressions on #8 and #9 were done. Crowns (Lava) were placed on #8 & #9 with vitremere cement. Both "teeth" became immediately sensitive to percussion. Olfactory and taste sensations were altered and both "teeth" had a dull on/off ache. Tooth # 8 tested vital and appeared negative on X-Ray after one month of duration.
I had 2 upper teeth pulled 2 weeks ago. I had an infection going on. 1 tooth was broken in half wth a cap on it and the other was to brittle from the root canal it had to repeat another root cancal so they said to pull it. I have one molar in the back left and the area right next to the very front left tooth has whats left of a root canal I guess. In an xray it looks like a post is in my gum but I believe it is the root of my tooth.
When I massaged the gum with my finger, I got a really foul taste from the gum. So I went to the dentist. He examined the gum and the crown/tooth joint and didn't see anything that looked bad. When he massaged the gum, he didn't see anything, but I still got a slightly foul taste (but not nearly as strong). He then did a percussion test, tapping firmly on all surfaces of the tooth, and I had no pain.

I have had an ongoing problem for 2 months now, still in pain, I had my tooth taken out after 4 root canal treatments, on the 22nd Dec 09 for days after I kept spitting and was in chronic pain.
Should I be concerned about having a wisdom tooth removed? I have had a bad taste in my mouth, but I was on amitriptyline and put it down to that then when I switched to cymbalta the taste went but 4 weeks later it was back. I started to notice I got a burst of it when cleanibg my teeth, when it happened again I realised it was my one remaining wisdom tooth which seems to be hugh but was not looking to healthy.
Stay on the antibiotics and see an oral surgeon asap. There is an infection but it is very rare that it will cause a brain abscess but the infection can not be ignored.

I had to deal with toothaches and dental pain ,y whole life. I had to have each tooth grind-ed down and a cap on each tooth! I was in a lot of pain from the time I was old enough to know what a toothache was. My Mom and Dad spent a small fourtune on my mouth so I would have pretty teeth and no pain. I thank them every time I think of that horrible pain!
Hi Welcome to the forum!
I have the same problem and I use a tongue scraper (usually you can buy one that is on the back side of your tooth brush). Halitosis (bad breath) sour taste in the mouth are bacteria especially at the back of the tongue. You can also use 3% hydrogen peroxide and dip your toothbrush in it and brush the tongue a couple times a day for a few days and see if it helps. The comment about diabetes can't hurt to get checked for that as well.

Any swelling in that area still? The bad taste may be from food getting stuck in there. You may want to call for a stronger pain prescription possibly.
