Common Questions and Answers about Tooth implant same day

teeth

Avatar m tn I have one tooth severely losen and had it extracted. I expect to have an implant some time later. At the time of extraction, the dentist told me I need have bone graft and it should be done at the time of tooth extractio or at least within two weeks after the extraction. But I did not follow his advice and just simply had the tooth extracted. My question is if I am to have an implant later, can I still have bone graft at that time?
Avatar f tn After a week of that, a boil/pustule full of pus formed over that same tooth. My dentist uncovered the implant and did a bone graft over the top of the implant where the infection had eaten the bone away. He soaked it in clindamycin and I took clindamycin orally afterwards. Six weeks after that, I started feeling bad again. My dentist put me on another round of clindamycin coupled with metronidazole. A 3D CONE x-ray showed that there was infection behind the top of the implant.
Avatar m tn I did an implant on my tooth #10. The same day the doctor did tooth extraction and an immediate implant loading. on one side of the implant, there are some bone infection. It dose not cause much pain and swelling, but it cause the procedure of bone binding the implant very slow. I am very concern about the success rate of my implant under this condition. I would like to hear expert's opinion about it. How is the success rate under this situation.
Avatar n tn My tooth is growing in pain with each day. Last year I had the same pain in the same tooth. Since I was in a foreign country when the pain started I asked the dentist to first try a passive approach. He perscribed antibiotics. That same night I was in terrible pain. The next day I went to the dentist and he was delighted. There was an infection in the bone, which came to the surface. For one year the tooth was fine. Now, I feel the pain again.
Avatar m tn From the x-ray of my implant, I found that my implant is too close to tooth #9 and the bone in between my implant and tooth #9 not grow much to integrate with the implant. I could also see the implant through my front gum, the gray color show off. I deeply worried and began to consult with some oral surgeons and some implant specialist. When they see the x-ray, all their first reaction is: This implant is not good. So, I took a CT Scan to see the implant 3-dimension.
Avatar m tn I had a bad implant on tooth #10 which was put in on April 14, 2008. There is no bone cover the outer side of the implant. Also, the implant was placed in a position with close to #9. the implant was taken out on Aug. 14, 2008 by another doctor. She used BMP-2 which cause big swelling over 2-3 weeks. and light swelling afterwards. On Aug. 30. I noticed my #9 become loose and very sensitive to percussion. On that day, my gum on #9 and #10 was seriously inflamed.

Avatar n tn Six months late, I went back for check-up. Same tooth still hurt off and on - sometimes gum swelled underneath. My bite felt distorted from the swelling. Dentist told me to get a nightguard. Got nightguard - it seemed to help some nights, not others. The cap fell off last week. Dentist took another x-ray. Infection in tooth - tooth is dead and infection may have affected the jawbone. I was put on anti-biotics and saw a specialist for root canal.
317787 tn?1473358451 Hi I had a dental implant with a healing cap placed 2 weeks ago on a lower back tooth. I have been eating on the other side, lots of soft food I have read that if the implant is in the jaw under the gum, you can begin to eat more than soft food after 10 to 12 days. If there is a healing cap you need to wait 6 weeks or longer. I also read one should stay away from sonic toothbrushes. I asked the surgeons office they told me not to worry, stope reading the internet, eat whatever I am able to.
Avatar n tn ve had major dental work since an accident back in high school and the implant tooth was my front tooth:(
Avatar f tn Hi Audrey, I apologize that we got to you late on this first of all. Having an implant placed in an area that has an abscess is not the best choice. Funny enough, just on Monday, my father needed his tooth number 7 removed due to an abscess and need for an implant and I only removed the tooth, we will wait a few weeks and then place the graft at that time (in his case he has lost much bone on the front part of the jaw bone) and then place the implants. I would recommed a CT scan always.
Avatar m tn Let me know what you find out as my implant is the front tooth. I lost my tooth in an accident.
Avatar m tn i said no and they looked shocked and then we went ahead with the root canal, i told them to just pull the tooth but of course they didnt want to. i told them i didnt have 6000 for an implant or 3000 for a bridge so we did a root canal and they are going to fit a crown to it... if your not in pain yet then start saving money now....
Avatar m tn I had a surgery on 8/14 on tooth #10 to remove an implant. the implant was very very close to my tooth #9. because the suture not removed, my gum got some infection on tooth #10. Am I at the risk loss a healthy tooth? tooth#9 is very healthy. thanks.
Avatar n tn I had a front tooth implant 8 years ago. For the last year a horrible smell has been coming from it. If I squeeze the gum above it it is really bad. If there was any part of a tooth underneath I would say it had rotten but there is nothing left under there! What is creating this smell? I brush 3 times a day, floss and use mouthwash. Can someone help?

Avatar n tn I recently developed an abcess on my top right molar tooth 2nd from the back. This tooth had undergone a root canal & w/i 6 mths. an apicoectomy which was about 10 yrs. ago. The dentist I saw yesterday recommended an amputation of the one root or see an oral surgeon who can a dental implant. He said there was no guarantee that the other two roots would hold up & that food & bacteria might collect in the tooth after the amputation.
Avatar n tn The my jaw did not heal correctly, because there were bone fragments and pus were the first tooth was removed, and implant. The second implant was pinching into my jaw and they was a notch there, and this implant was remove. Now I have a large ulceration above my right eye tooth to my jawline and there is a hard are near my right nostril you can palpate hard area my face. I am noticing clear drainage leaking out of my right nostril, and this area feels different from the left side.
Avatar n tn m back at Step 3 but I decided to do the implant thing. So the first part was to remove the tooth and add a bone graft to replace bone that came out when the tooth was removed. That hurt, and hurt and hurt for almost a month. It was swollen, painful to touch, my face and area under the jaw bone was visibly swollen, headache and earache. I was on more pain killers than ever in my life (I have had babies, back pain and prior surgeries).
Avatar n tn I waited 2 weeks after receiving the crown before biting with the left front tooth. The biting resulted in the same aching and soreness. HELP!!! I broke the tooth 11 months ago. What else could be wrong??????
Avatar n tn 3 weeks ago I had a tooth implant (bottom wisdom tooth plus adjacent tooth). The swelling of the gum next to the implant extended to the next 2 bottom teeth. IV antibiotics were given plus antibiotic tablets with little effect to reduce the swelling. The pain was mainly at the ear, the joining teeth and the back of my head. Then I started having swelling of the lymph node near the jaw with pain/discomfort spreading to the lower part of the neck (the side of the implant) and shoulder bone.
Avatar n tn I am 25 and need to replace a missing tooth. I am undecided between implant and bridge. My dentist has told me that normally for people my age he would advise implants, however, since my adjacent teeth have fillings, he told me that I should strongly consider a bridge. However, I am afraid of the damage that may be caused to the adjacent teeth. What do you think? Thanks!
Avatar m tn If root resorption tooth is asymptomatic , you don,t need to worry. No one can tell when the tooth will come out. Implant is a highly predictable and viable option for replacing missing tooth.once it is inserted and restored , it can service decades, no need to remove healthy implant.
Avatar n tn I removed 1 bad tooth last year and planed to do implant it this year. My previous dr. left the org some time last year. The new dr. changed my plan after my yesterday's visit. He asked me to remove 3 teeth before implanting the removed one. The 3 teeth are, 2 were decayed teeth but haven't had problem almost 15 years, they are wisdom teeth. One is 2 teeth away from the one to implant, 1 is far away at the other end. For the 3rd one need to remove, i agree with the Dr.
Avatar n tn I would recommend extracting the tooth and placing an implant. It is possible to do a root canal and a crown but if the chance of success is so low, then it may not be worth the time, money, energy and of course discomfort of the extensive dental treatment only to need to have an implant done later on. Sorry to have to give you bad news on the tooth but it would probably be best to remove it.
