I'm a 60-year-old female whoI had a dental implant done three weeks ago, after my tooth broke. I think it's tooth #29. Since then, I haven't been able to feel my jaw, lower right teeth, or lip. Making things worse is the pain I feel when I try to smile or if I move my mouth wrong. The pain is in my right ear, jaw, and inside my cheek. I find it difficult not chewing on my the inside of mouth when eating. At night, I have a throbbing pain to the tooth next to the implant.
While checking out options I found out that the insurance company will not cover the implant except to pull the tooth. Out of 3k they will pay $104. Both dentists recommend not touching the other teeth with a bridge since there is nothing wrong with the other teeth. I had four teeth pulled as a teenager for braces so I really rather keep my teeth intact as much as possible...besides I really hate the bridge I do have because food is always getting struck in it.
Before I went for the 3D Xray Periodontist said it needs to be extracted and to go with an implant. #22 supports a bridge. Is there an endodontic procedure that will save the tooth? I want the best long term solution. Also I read on the internet that there is a problem with food around a tooth after a root resection. Is the best solution extraction and an implant? I will need another implant next to #22 also as the bridge covers that space.
I did an implant on my tooth #10. The same day the doctor did tooth extraction and an immediate implant loading.
on one side of the implant, there are some bone infection. It dose not cause much pain and swelling, but it cause the procedure of bone binding the implant very slow.
I am very concern about the success rate of my implant under this condition. I would like to hear expert's opinion about it. How is the success rate under this situation.
all a root canal is is the dr cleans out the pulp of the tooth ( the inside of the tooth) basicly killing your tooth. it kills the nerve. if the tooth is pulled than so is your root canal. I would suggest maybe going to see a different dr or asking for a different cement if possible. only an oral surgeon can put in an implant and they are very expensive and can be difficult to care for as well. please read up on care for implants before your make your decision.
I had a bad implant on tooth #10 which was put in on April 14, 2008. There is no bone cover the outer side of the implant. Also, the implant was placed in a position with close to #9.
the implant was taken out on Aug. 14, 2008 by another doctor. She used BMP-2 which cause big swelling over 2-3 weeks. and light swelling afterwards.
On Aug. 30. I noticed my #9 become loose and very sensitive to percussion. On that day, my gum on #9 and #10 was seriously inflamed.
We both decided to wait and see how #31 developed. I just forgot to ask some more questions when I saw him about care for the tooth and options to follow. I certainly knew about the possibility of extraction/implant/crown. I've just been waiting/hoping to see how #31 developed. In December the surgeon said give it a few months to see how it works out. So he is trying to be conservative in treatment.
i said no and they looked shocked and then we went ahead with the root canal, i told them to just pull the tooth but of course they didnt want to. i told them i didnt have 6000 for an implant or 3000 for a bridge so we did a root canal and they are going to fit a crown to it... if your not in pain yet then start saving money now....
3 weeks ago I had a tooth implant (bottom wisdom tooth plus adjacent tooth). The swelling of the gum next to the implant extended to the next 2 bottom teeth. IV antibiotics were given plus antibiotic tablets with little effect to reduce the swelling. The pain was mainly at the ear, the joining teeth and the back of my head. Then I started having swelling of the lymph node near the jaw with pain/discomfort spreading to the lower part of the neck (the side of the implant) and shoulder bone.
I have a tooth crown towards the front (next to one insissor) that may need replacement soon. Been this way for 7+ years and it came off a year ago since the tooth inside started going bad. My present dentist glued it back on and its held for a year so far. Dentist tells me that she may not be able to reglue it back on if it breaks off again.
I however want the matter addressed asap b/c stuff is going inside this crown and causing decay.

I am in my early twenties and recently had my upper left premolar extracted and replaced with an implant. I know that bone loss can occur when a tooth is extracted, and the implant is supposed to prevent such bone loss from occurring, but will there be any bone loss at all? I am really concerned because I am so young and don't want my facial appearance to change. Thank you so much.
Seeing an endodontist is advised. Your descriptions don't suggest the offended tooth is hopeless.if you do need an implant, you need to see a dentist near by, because implant requires long term follow up care. Most dentists are hesitant to take care of other dentists' implant.
I have one tooth severely losen and had it extracted. I expect to have an implant some time later. At the time of extraction, the dentist told me I need have bone graft and it should be done at the time of tooth extractio or at least within two weeks after the extraction. But I did not follow his advice and just simply had the tooth extracted.
My question is if I am to have an implant later, can I still have bone graft at that time?
The my jaw did not heal correctly, because there were bone fragments and pus were the first tooth was removed, and implant. The second implant was pinching into my jaw and they was a notch there, and this implant was remove. Now I have a large ulceration above my right eye tooth to my jawline and there is a hard are near my right nostril you can palpate hard area my face. I am noticing clear drainage leaking out of my right nostril, and this area feels different from the left side.

i have a perforated 14th molar and I want to know if there is still a chance of saving the tooth or does it need to be extracted? The molar does not hurt but sometimes it feels a little sensitive (rarely).
Hello, I have an impacted canine and have been wearing braces because of this for almost 3 years, since I was a junior in H.S. I had a surgery to connect a bracket to the tooth to have it pulled down with a ball and chain about a year and a half ago. We have seen slight progess in the movement of the tooth but it is still quite a ways off and is not visible.
The problem is that the bracket recently broke off and I am getting sick of wearing braces in college.

I am 25 and need to replace a missing tooth. I am undecided between implant and bridge. My dentist has told me that normally for people my age he would advise implants, however, since my adjacent teeth have fillings, he told me that I should strongly consider a bridge. However, I am afraid of the damage that may be caused to the adjacent teeth.

I removed 1 bad tooth last year and planed to do implant it this year. My previous dr. left the org some time last year. The new dr. changed my plan after my yesterday's visit.
He asked me to remove 3 teeth before implanting the removed one.
The 3 teeth are,
2 were decayed teeth but haven't had problem almost 15 years, they are wisdom teeth. One is 2 teeth away from the one to implant, 1 is far away at the other end.
For the 3rd one need to remove, i agree with the Dr.
I have implant done on tooth #10 , which is a front tooth, in the middle of April, 2008. no abutment put in, and the suture was taken off after two weeks of the surgery.
suppose the gum will close several weeks after the suture removed, but now, 3 month passed the surgery, my gum still not closed. I am deeply worried if that will cause any problem.
if the gum still not close after 6 moths of the surgery, do I need to do gum regeneration? how much will it cost?
