Common Questions and Answers about Tooth implant before and after

teeth

Avatar m tn A new question, with implant in my mouth, can I still see orthodontics to adjust #9? I already had an implant on #19. and after bone grafting of #10, another implant will be placed on that position.
Avatar f tn I'm a 60-year-old female whoI had a dental implant done three weeks ago, after my tooth broke. I think it's tooth #29. Since then, I haven't been able to feel my jaw, lower right teeth, or lip. Making things worse is the pain I feel when I try to smile or if I move my mouth wrong. The pain is in my right ear, jaw, and inside my cheek. I find it difficult not chewing on my the inside of mouth when eating. At night, I have a throbbing pain to the tooth next to the implant.
Avatar m tn From the x-ray of my implant, I found that my implant is too close to tooth #9 and the bone in between my implant and tooth #9 not grow much to integrate with the implant. I could also see the implant through my front gum, the gray color show off. I deeply worried and began to consult with some oral surgeons and some implant specialist. When they see the x-ray, all their first reaction is: This implant is not good. So, I took a CT Scan to see the implant 3-dimension.

Avatar m tn She still thougt everything is ok, and my tooth #9 was loose before the surgery. She gave me some anti-biotics, Amoxichilin, and Ibuprofen. the surgery was done three weeks ago, but the tooth sensitivity and mobility just happened on Sunday. if it is acute periodontal infection, will Amoxichilin, and Ibuprofen enough to treat it? I also got prescribed oral rinse, I use it twice /day as instructed. and put a layer of salt on my gum of tooth #10 and #9 before I go bed.
Avatar m tn Earlier this year, I completed the six month or so long process of getting a dental implant on #18. Ever since the crown was placed on the implant, the implant hasn't felt right, despite my dentist making several adjustments and my oral surgeon's assurances that nothing seems wrong with the implant (x-rays and examination of it). When I bite down on it with certain foods, it feels uncomfortable, almost like it has moved, but apparently it hasn't.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am in my early twenties and recently had my upper left premolar extracted and replaced with an implant. I know that bone loss can occur when a tooth is extracted, and the implant is supposed to prevent such bone loss from occurring, but will there be any bone loss at all? I am really concerned because I am so young and don't want my facial appearance to change. Thank you so much.

Avatar n tn Hello from a newbie! Hi out there. I wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I've been searching the web for info about dental implants and found this board. I've never thought about joining a board before, but after reading through some posts, I'm happy I did. I just want to say thanks to everyone for the support you offer eachother here.
Avatar m tn I did an implant on my tooth #10. The same day the doctor did tooth extraction and an immediate implant loading. on one side of the implant, there are some bone infection. It dose not cause much pain and swelling, but it cause the procedure of bone binding the implant very slow. I am very concern about the success rate of my implant under this condition. I would like to hear expert's opinion about it. How is the success rate under this situation.
Avatar n tn 3 weeks ago I had a tooth implant (bottom wisdom tooth plus adjacent tooth). The swelling of the gum next to the implant extended to the next 2 bottom teeth. IV antibiotics were given plus antibiotic tablets with little effect to reduce the swelling. The pain was mainly at the ear, the joining teeth and the back of my head. Then I started having swelling of the lymph node near the jaw with pain/discomfort spreading to the lower part of the neck (the side of the implant) and shoulder bone.
Avatar m tn I had a bad implant on tooth #10 which was put in on April 14, 2008. There is no bone cover the outer side of the implant. Also, the implant was placed in a position with close to #9. the implant was taken out on Aug. 14, 2008 by another doctor. She used BMP-2 which cause big swelling over 2-3 weeks. and light swelling afterwards. On Aug. 30. I noticed my #9 become loose and very sensitive to percussion. On that day, my gum on #9 and #10 was seriously inflamed.
Avatar m tn She is not very happy because there is a noticeable gap between the crown and her gum line (can see a dark line). After eating just one thing it cakes up around the crown and she can actually place floss up and around all sides of the crown. Is this normal? What is the acceptable gap between the crown and gum line?
Avatar m tn Experiencing pain in tooth number 19 recently, I went in to see my family dentist just prior to leaving on an important business trip. I explained the situation, and after taking an x-ray, my dentist informed me that I needed a root canal. I was refer erred to the endodontist her office works with, and an appointment was made for the following day.
Avatar n tn My question is can a reaction to dental work cause systemic disease? Less than a year ago I had a dental implant along with bone grafting. It was supposedly my own bone from the other side of my mouth done at the same time as the dental implant. Not 3 days after the dental implant I experienced a feeling that something was not right. The area hurt, I felt spacey and really felt like something was wrong. Like my body had something in it, it didn't like.
Avatar n tn My husband had a dental implant done about 2 years ago and still suffers from sharp pains (on and off), tingling sensations, sensitivity on the face around the area of the implant. He has been to a doctor, dental surgeon, neurologist and a pain centre, all with no answers. He has been on pain killers for two years. The dentist that did his implant feels that there is nothing wrong. Should we get the implant removed?
Avatar f tn he told me that he cant put a crown and an implant must be done...he put a composite instead of the tooth and asked me to come for an implant but the dental surgeon who will work with him told me to make a panoramic and a periapical before taking the decision of the implant it showed that my roots are good and i dont feel any pain but it doesnt show the crack...i saw the crack in the mirror i know it is there but no one can now how deep is it...till now i dont feel any pain...
Avatar f tn The dentist told her that almost all of her teeth on her upper jaw will be extracted and every tooth will be bone grafted before they give her dentures. is bone grafting really necessary before dentures or can we get away without it? It will cost us $330.00 per tooth and they need to remove 8 . It's really expensive so is it really necessary or can we do away with it?
Avatar m tn Also I read on the internet that there is a problem with food around a tooth after a root resection. Is the best solution extraction and an implant? I will need another implant next to #22 also as the bridge covers that space.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I understand it takes 4 months to heal before the implant and then 4-5 months after before they can put the crown or top part on.
Avatar m tn I have one tooth severely losen and had it extracted. I expect to have an implant some time later. At the time of extraction, the dentist told me I need have bone graft and it should be done at the time of tooth extractio or at least within two weeks after the extraction. But I did not follow his advice and just simply had the tooth extracted. My question is if I am to have an implant later, can I still have bone graft at that time?
Avatar n tn However, I started having pain, soreness, sensitiveness on all teeth (both top and bottom) on the implant side about a week after the surgery. Follow-ups with my oral surgeon discover the wound heals well and fluid diet is suggested (which I didn't strictly follow because of the holidays). During the past two weeks, my situation sometimes is better, sometimes I feel much pain and discomfort. I took antibiotics and pain medications.
Avatar m tn I have a similar question regarding numbness after implant. I had the implant done on 5/19 on #29, #30 and #31. A couple days later I called my oral surgeon and told him that my left chin and lower lip are numb. He asked me to come to the office to back out the implant a millimeter or two because it might be touching a nerve. On 5/23 the oral surgeon backed out implants #31 and #29. He did tell me that he suspected that implant #29 was possibly compressing a nerve area.
Avatar m tn A couple of months ago I went to to the dentist because one of my upper front teeth (8/central incisor) had been slightly but persistently hurting for a while and it had a history of being less responsive to cold tests than my other teeth. After doing an x-ray and a cold test she concluded that the root is dead but to be safe she started the root canal without any anasthesia so I could say something if I felt anything. I felt no pain whatsoever and sure enough the root was dead. So far so good.
