Common Questions and Answers about Tooth extraction upper molar

Avatar m tn I went to a dentist to extract my "upper right back" tooth. The extraction was incomplete. The dentist told me that he could not remove as the tip(root) is very close to the jaw. Is it safe to leave it as it is? And how long?
Avatar f tn Following extraction of an upper molar and wisdom tooth, I have suffered from miserable coated tongue, a sensation of dryness, and loss some of sensation in my upper lip. Could this be the result of any nerve damage from the extractions?
Avatar m tn The lower left wisdom tooth is clearly impacted and should be the next tooth to come out; however for the upper two wisdom teeth combined with the already extracted 1st molar would there be a possibility of creating too much empty space to fill through brace-work? 3. The bills are quite hefty for all this work and she has no insurance over there; she would very much prefer to spread the cost out by delaying the braces until late August.
Avatar f tn It seems to be affecting the tooth in front of the extraction site as well as the extraction site. I am still getting the tingling in my chin and also have some nausea.

Avatar m tn I have no cavaties that i know of(ive been to the dentist several times within the last six months) and its not due to my recent wisdom tooth extraction since ive had that issue well before i had my upper right wisdom tooth extraction. I like to jump rope as one of my many exercises but i no longer can due to this issue.
Avatar n tn Is it the 3rd molar commonly called the wisdom tooth or the second molar? If it's the second molar, probably worth saving the tooth assuming you have a full complement of teeth. If you do not have an opposing tooth then you may consider having the extraction as opposed to a root canal therapy and crown.
Avatar n tn I know everyone says that having an extraction will cause the other teeth to eventually shift. My bottom teeth are so overly crowded now anyway. I just wish I knew what to do. I would prefer to have my oral surgeon do the work whatever it is, but I'm pretty certain that they don't do root canals.
Avatar n tn Socket preservation is commonly performed immediately after tooth extraction, which is a very procedure. Ridge augmentation is performed is the edentulous area to increase the width and/or height of alveolar bone.ridge augmentation is highly technique sensitive.if you need implant therapy, seeing a qualified dentist is advised.
Avatar n tn About 6 months ago I was told I would need a root canal because I have a lot of decay in one tooth. The tooth in question is the last tooth on the upper left hand side, number 16? It has recently started to really hurt and I will be going to a dentist soon. My question is since it's way in the back can I just have it extracted to avoid the cost, pain and future complications associated with a root canal? In general, I brush at least twice a day and floss everyday. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Upper left molar #14 was extracted 8 months ago. Prior extraction was experiencing ache on left side of face especially cheek bone & around eye, slightly swollen. Asked for antibotics, he told me what I was experiencing had nothing to do with the tooth & seek medical doctor. Tooth did not come out in one piece. Ten days later went back to dentist as sharp piece of bone sticking out of extraction site. Dentist removed, said it was not uncommon & that everything looked fine.
Avatar n tn My dentist recommended surgical extraction of the tooth and getting a new partial with an extra tooth to replace the extracted molar. A tooth implant is a second option. At this stage I need to do something as the physical tiredness and constant irritation need to go. My options are 1) more antibiotics (probably a waste of time ?) 2) Tooth extraction 3) Tooth Implant My questions (fianally !) are; Which method is the best choice?
Avatar n tn I had my r/upper wisdom tooth removed on 2/16. It was not impacted or below the gums. I to have a hole in the back, half of it is healed the other half is still "open" and red, somewhat sensitive. I keep rinsing it with warm water and salt. I had stiches, but cut them out myself, they were not dissolvable, but they irratated the area so bad and I could not afford to go back to the dentist (i know...thats bad)! However, I think it's healing, just slowly.
Avatar n tn Also, the lost of one tooth is in actuality a lost of two teeth. Because you lose the lower molar, the opposing upper molar has nothing to chew against and also becomes useless as well. It may super-erupt, meaning that it'll grow into that molar's spot and can cause problems later on. But its only a possibility. Sometimes the teeth don't move much. I personally don't know your finances so I can't really make that decision for you. Hope that helps.
Avatar m tn Your situation is known as oroantral communication, which is not uncommon complacation of upper molar extraction. Optimal management is placemant of collagen plug(colla plug), or bone graft material into extraction socket, and suture of the surgical site. Post-op instructions include avoidance of straw and sneezing, if managed properly, most oroantral communications heal up uneventfully. If the condition persists after 6 weeks, you may need to see an oral surgeon to surgically repair the defect.
Avatar n tn Hi, I had my Number 3 tooth taken out, molar on the upper right, and the Dr. told me that bleed that day is normal but i can't recall if he said it would still bleed the day after. Anyways, My question is, Is bleeding normal the day after?? i'd assume maybe some pinkish on the gauze and in saliva, But occasionally it looks a bit of a darker red, is that normal?? I worry way to much for my own good so i'm hoping that's what it is.
15439126 tn?1444443163 I'm contemplating having my 1-7 (upper left) molar extracted (red X on tooth in image) as it has a really deep gum pocket (that's reached between the roots so cannot be properly tended -- my symptoms are about half the time there's mild discomfort but I'm also at risk of infection flare-ups, I've had two earlier but they settled down on their own).
Avatar n tn And was told the fractured tooth could be crowned but the adjacent molar showed signs of root infection, I had a root canal and crown done on the infected tooth about two years ago. My dentist is telling me that it will have to be extracted. Is there any alternative to extraction such as antibiotics?
Avatar m tn I had a upper molar surgically extracted 5 days ago and still have swelling an pain in gums. Once in a while the pain is intense and i take 2 tylenol and it seems to subside is this normal?
Avatar f tn I had my last molar pulled(not my wisdom tooth) 4 days ago it was severly infected . i am stiil in excrusiating pain and cant even open my mouth to get a spoon in it. i doubled up on my anti biotics 2 days ago im taking the pain medication and anti inflammitory meds as directed and im having no relief. the whole right side of my face and ear hurts so bad. ive had teeth pulled before and noting like this has ever happened can you please help me and tell me what might be going on?
Avatar n tn If it was an upper tooth, you may have a sinus infection possibly and need antibiotic treatment.
12182312 tn?1427683956 One was a wisdom tooth, the second was a molar right in front of that tooth and the third was another molar on the opposite side. It took about an hour and a half and they were extremely difficult extractions. The bleeding didn't last very long and that day and the following day I felt pretty good. Since the second day, my gums were the teeth were pulled itch like crazy, they are swollen and are extremely sore and tender. It hurts to eat , brush or do anything.
Avatar m tn A month ago I had a molar extracted from upper jaw, left hand side (required a root canal but couldn't afford that, so had to go with the extraction.) Easiest and quickest extraction ever. Got pain meds, but hardly had to use any of it. The past few days, i've had a dull ache in the area the tooth used to be. From what I can see the flesh has healed nicely. Feels smooth, and no pain when eating or brushing in that area.
Avatar n tn The amoxycillin cleared it up finally, but now it is returning with more obvious signs that it is from my back upper right molar, with pain when I chew and pretty consistent throbbing. The first antibiotic was early-December, the second was right after. I have a prescription for augmentin xr that I have not yet begun, but don't know if that is appropriate for a tooth infection? I also now have a strange itching on lower arms and all along my jaw line that is spreading each day.
