Common Questions and Answers about Tooth extraction braces

Avatar m tn ed the above plan, to spread out the dental work and begin braces in late August, but from what I know braces are usually applied around 2 weeks after extraction. Would delaying for 6-8 weeks cause complications such as bone loss that would interfere with the braces and negatively impact or delay the alignment period? What is the maximum amount of time that can pass between an extraction and being fitted with braces before the consequences of delaying become severe?
Avatar f tn I have braces on my upper jaw and I just got my lower wisdom tooth extracted, its been 5 days, the swelling did go down but I can notice that my face has changed. Do extraction of wisdom tooth make the face fat ? Thnk you.
Avatar f tn Tooth extraction is the process which is used to remove teeth from its socket in the bone. After tooth extraction, recovery takes a few days but if you are feeling any discomfort, contact your dentist to get confirmation about infection.
Avatar m tn Not necessary, but help decrease alveolar bone resorption after tooth extraction, which yields long term benefits.
Avatar f tn a root canal and a crown are very expensive to be doing on a tooth that will be falling out very soon. if you plan to get him braces have the tooth extracted to prevent any possible decay to his adult teeth if it hasnt already. and that will give the adult tooth the space it needs to come in if it is close enough any ways. it is the cheapest way to go and the safest route as well but that is my opinion. crowns normally cost around $200-$700 and a root canal is $1000 procedure.
Avatar m tn I booked an appointment to see a dentist and within the first 5 minutes of completing the x-ray she said I need root canal or extraction. Immediately, I went back home and booked to see a different dentist at a different dental clinic. The second dentist took an x-ray and told me to come back a week later. When I returned, she said that it's "a big question mark" and that she can attempt to save it by filling it.
Avatar m tn I had an extraction of a molar tooth months ago.The dentist left root fragments behind and didn't even explain me why. This is what made find a new dentist and orthodontist because i have to correct my teeth,i have an open bite. They told me i need to remove these fragments before i get my braces on.
Avatar n tn Basically nothing about tooth extraction is healthy, and it is completely unnecessary!! Nature always knows best, and it wouldn't have given you 32 teeth if any needed to be removed. The correct answer is a palate expander, gum chewing (or chewing in general), and eating a healthy nutrient rich diet. These all naturally expand the mouth so the teeth fit comfortably.
Avatar n tn Hello. I am currently experiencing a lot of pain in a molar that I had a root canal in about 10 years ago and a crown placed over it two years ago. The pain is usually only when I chew on it. I am almost 100% certain that the pain is coming from this tooth and not the one next to it. When I tap the crowned tooth it hurts, the one next to it does not. I don't understand why this tooth would hurt if the nerves are dead. Is this even possible?
Avatar m tn The first thing needs be done is extraction of hopeless teeth, which requires professional evaluation. However, extraction of tooth frequently is influenced by financial affodability, particularly in the U.S.At your age, non-recuable teeth are probably due to caries, in stead of advanced periodontitis.if the reason for extraction is non-restorable tooth, multiple extraction in one visit tends to give you more post-op pain.
Avatar n tn 3 weeks ago while I was drinking a cold glass of milk I felt a sharp pain in one of my front teeth. A few days later I had a regular monthly checkup (because I have braces) and told the dentist of this certain pain and he relieved some pressure on my front teeth. Perhaps the following few days after I just drank cold water and the pain would start to come back though not as severe.
Avatar n tn Dr. Tsang, sorry for typing in the wrong name.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks ago I fracture the stroungest root of my tooth (#14) which has a crown and RC. The crown is still attached but can be wiggle somewhat. Currently I'm not in pain due to the previous rc. Is there a way to keep the tooth? Can it heal if I baby it? While checking out options I found out that the insurance company will not cover the implant except to pull the tooth. Out of 3k they will pay $104.
Avatar m tn Brought the child tooth extraction, the doctor gave the former patients after tooth extraction, tooth extraction in gloves again give me children, in the process of tooth extraction, before a patient came to the front of the doctor, for some money to the doctor's hands, the doctor took the money into the pocket, but there is no change gloves again, but with the took the money hand continue to give the child tooth extraction, in the process of tooth extraction, the hand bleeding was forced to
Avatar n tn i had my tooth cut out today and it made me think of all the questions i heard about dry socket on here. they all mention holes and whatnot in their gums. is this something that occurs after their stitches come out? i am curious because the dentist stitched my gums up after the extraction and so there is no hole. i guess i'm just wondering why all the people with dry socket keep referring to a hole and i don't have a hole. not that i'm looking for dry socket or anything.
Avatar n tn When I was about 17 I started getting an adult tooth grow behind a baby tooth, at the time I didnt know my baby tooth never came in and I didnt have insurance so never took care of it.
Avatar m tn My dentist suggested root canal on it. I also have braces so he also told me that the crown will be placed when the braces are removed. But looking at the cost and the amount of care to be taken, I am holding back. I would prefer extraction because anyway it isnt helping me in chewing and two of my teeth need filling so i would first spend money on saving them. What should i do?
4744198 tn?1378852227 Probably not what u want to hear but if it is a back tooth u could have it pulled for now. Than when u have more money or dental insurance they will put in a fake tooth. This will cost way way less and you dentist can do it for u.
10084165 tn?1414634307 I took a tylenol about 2 days ago (b/c i got a flu shot and tdap shot n was feeling bad)and the next morning my gums under my tooth had swollen so bad they broke through the broken tooth.. I can barely eat and trying to fully shut my mouth (teeth to teeth ) it hurts. My question is do you think it'll be a waste of time going to the dentist now or should I wait until I deliver?
Avatar m tn At the time of extraction, the dentist told me I need have bone graft and it should be done at the time of tooth extractio or at least within two weeks after the extraction. But I did not follow his advice and just simply had the tooth extracted. My question is if I am to have an implant later, can I still have bone graft at that time?
Avatar m tn my right front tooth has been sensitive to cold, it has also been sensitive to cold air, when i would be outside and i would breath in heavly my tooth will get very sensitive. i have braces on top and bottom teeth (dont no if that could be a factor). i got my braces tightened 3 days ago and the sensitivity started this morning. i was thinking it could also be that my teeth have been moving around. i really dont want a cavity on one of my front teeth.
Avatar f tn I have hypercementosis(mis spell) and had an extraction of number 4 tooth 6 weeks ago. I'm experience a lot of pain and the only thing that helps is my finger in place of the missing tooth. I've had two course of antibotics. The area has been checked twice and they thought I might need a root canal in tooth number 5. Specialist checked with no reaction to hot, cold and pressure so she prescribed oral rinse. I looked and the area is white but doctor said that it's healing.
Avatar n tn I intend to extract my molar tooth. I am 63 yrs, Can i take the aspirin and do the tooth extraction or take after the extraction. Your advice will be much appreciated. thank you.
Avatar f tn I have never had such pain before after a tooth extraction. Why are my gum lines feeling sore. It is no where near the tooth extraction?
Avatar f tn I've been in braces for 7 years because I had an inherited defect that caused me to be born without my number 7 and 10 teeth. Also, numbers 6 and 11 were located extremely high in my upper jaw and would not erupt. A gold chain was surgically attached to number 11 almost 2 years ago and was 'tugged' on by my braces for several months.
Avatar n tn if it can be moved, it is most likely a bone spicule or small sliver of tooth that may have chipped off during the extraction. It should be pushed up and out during the healing process. If you think it's intact bone poking through, see the dentist who did the extraction.
