Common Questions and Answers about Tooth decay in children pictures

Avatar f tn I personally agree with your concerns about the expense for the work mentioned and the time the tooth will remain in the mouth.  Is there a permanent tooth present that will erupt later in the area?  This affects decisions on extraction. Your child will most likely need an ortho consult by age 7.  The other thing is... The dentist stated it was "close" to the nerve and did not state it had "invaded" it. This was key to me. If it were my child...
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your responses. I do have another question in order to check to see how much decay, you mention X rays. Will my cat have to be sedated for that as well?
Avatar f tn whats tooth decay and what can happen
Avatar n tn You may find that dentists do not spend any time counseling their patients relative to the things that cause tooth and root decay, or how to get free from it. Why should they when they make money from dental disease. Dental decay is the number one disease in the world. The primaryPrimary amyloidosis Primary biliary cirrhosis Primary hyperparathyroidism Primary insomnia Primary lymphoma of the brain cause is diet, and no amount of dental work can stop the decay process.
Avatar f tn I have decay under crown and dentist wants to remove tooth but I also have a bridge next to this and the supporting tooth for this has roots going sideways due to an impacted tooth in gum line. This may become unstable after extraction and i end up with a large gap . what is the alternative. I have no pain under crown but gum is soft due to the decay.
Avatar m tn He said the x-ray showed no infection in the tooth and no decay. He prescribed me amoxicillin (500 mg, 3x per day for 6 days, and a refill if necessary. He said if the pain doesn't go away then I might need a root canal or have the tooth pulled anyway. I'm skeptical and asking for advice here because I had a terrible root canal experience on the other side of my mouth about two months ago and the tooth ended up being pulled after a week of excruciating pain.

1047019 tn?1256719961 Does diet soda cause tooth decay? My friend allows her daughter to drink limitless quantities of diet coke, and she insists it isn't the cause of her tooth problems. The daughter has had a silver tooth, and more recently major fillings in some of her back baby teeth, for which the dentist wanted to put her under general anesthesia. My friend insists diet Coke is perfectly fine for teeth?
Avatar f tn It usually originates from a bacterial infection which has accumulated in the soft dead pulp of the tooth. It can be caused by tooth decay, broken teeth or any extensive periodontal disease. There is no definite time it takes for this abscess to form. It depends on the severity of the organisms and their virulence. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar m tn Two days ago I begun to get an overnight sharp pain in a different tooth. The pain was in the very last back tooth, which is two teeth down from the tooth with the odour mentioned above. Something small had just snapped off and slightly chipped this last back tooth and caused immediate pain when touched and I thought "dam" I expected merely just a small repair job a tiny pin head side minor filling.
Avatar n tn what is the rate of risk in getting the infection on Oral sex (esp. if have a troubled teeth coz of tooth decay)... HOpe you could give me an answer and advice... What are the symptoms and how long before it will show..
Avatar m tn ] The last bit is that Clinic A recommended I work on my left side first (with the visibly decayed tooth) to prevent further decay, while Clinic B recommended working on the right side, due to upper molar 7's (R) still functioning nerve (relief from/prevention of potential pain) [My upper left has lost function, it seems; I don't feel pain in that area] While I understand that my limited knowledge of the terminology and the admittedly shoddy description of the imaging prevents accurate
Avatar n tn I just noticed that I have a cavity in last back molar that in near/on the gum line facing my cheek. I can see it. It is in a tooth that has had a filling in it for the past 15 years. It currently doesn't hurt and I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't gotten a piece of lettuce stuck between my teeth in the back. I have an appointment with my dentist but it isn't for two weeks unless they get a cancellation. My question is: how difficult is it to repair a cavity by the gumline?
Avatar m tn I went to a local hospital and they treated my teeth by removing the decay area and apply some white material and they call the method as compositing. It has been done just months ago and now in some teeth, tiny dots of decay appear from the area around the filling. Now my question is did the doctors did not composite well or my tooth starts to decay again slowly on its own again?
Avatar f tn Oh and in the mirror I think I see the decay between these two teeth.
Avatar m tn I would consult with your endodontist and see what they say. They opened the tooth and saw what was going on inside. Your general dentist can do that also. If there's extensive decay in that tooth still or there's some reason to believe the bridge is bad, then replacing it would be ideal. If the decay isn't bad and the bridge seems fine, then placing a filling in there would work as well.
Avatar f tn Hi this could absolutely not be due to a crack in the tooth as suggested; a pulsating pain in a tooth could be due to inflammation in the tooth (pulpits) that has progressed to the ligament that holds the tooth. Crack in tooth tend to be painful for a longer period of time and continue to hurt on biting. By suggesting that it doesn’t hurt at the moment whatsoever means that the condition is gone into a chronic phase.
Avatar n tn The dentist began drilling into the tooth and, while removing ther decay, concluded that I needed a root canal. The dentist did part of the root canal herself (I have never had a root canal but she had out those small files and I presume that she had started the process). I went to a specialist (endodontist?) a few days later. I was in significant pain by the time I made it to him.
Avatar n tn Infection sets in and you feel very ill all over. Abscesses and dental decay and gum disease are all bad for you. If you start taking care of the problems you will start feeling better.
Avatar n tn If the crown is loose, bacteria tends to enter inside of ctown and results in decay. In thies condition, meticulous probing generally can detect decay around the margin of crown. If the tooth is mobile, it probably results from occlusal trauma, x-ray exam may reveal widening of periodontal ligament. Seeing a competent and experienced dentist is advised.
Avatar m tn Well, for the woman being positive it's just an assumption that she is. She might not be for all we know. As for sweat, I did thought that too but as I was sucking on her nipple, I strongly believe the salty discharge came from her nipples. I know there negligable to no risk but my concern is the discharge coming in contact with my decayed tooth (my tooth decay doesn't hurt too much, just a little bit).
Avatar n tn other than night bottle what else can cause a severe decay in 3 year old..??? and what's the remedy..???
Avatar f tn my heart is pinching and my bones hurt badly now can a decay under the crown no tooth left to hold pin have a right swollen face and numbness can be caused by the decay that is under a crown that been there 10 years?
Avatar n tn It sounds like your child has a specific case & it will be a little hard to say whether or not the advice you are receiving is good advice or bad advice. I am going to make the assumption that the advice is proactive treatment. First, though, your dentist is recommending stainless steel crowns because that is the only option there is. They provide strength for the tooth structure that other options cannot.
