Too much protein on a keto diet

Common Questions and Answers about Too much protein on a keto diet

protein

Avatar m tn I understand this frustration. Sometimes losing weight can be daunting. I'm not a math person, don't like things overly complicated so I dumb it all down. Do you mind me asking how old you are and your sex? I couldn't do a keto diet because it's more of a diet plan. Too specific for me. Low carb, high fat. I'm also not a fan of the high fat. Remember that diet where they said you could eat all the bacon you wanted? How long have you been on the keto diet?
Avatar n tn Complex carbs such as whole grains are the best source of long-term energy. Too much protein, especially animal protein, can cause kidney problems and is linked to a higher rate of cardiovascular disease. As I say, the long-term studies still support the same old same old, which is don't eat overdo the protein, especially animal protein, do eat a lot of colored veggies, eat grains, eat fish, eat beans, but eat in moderation and in balance.
Tbd The principle of low carb diet is restricting carbs, particularly all grains, sugars, starchy veges and sweet fruits, and eating a diet that focusses more on protein, low carb plant foods (veges and non-sweet fruits), some nuts, and healthy fats. While this may sound a little intimidating it is actually pretty easy and there are lots of great recipe ideas online easily accessible. key words will be low-carb, and keto.
Avatar m tn Yes your body does convert protein to BG , much slower than carbs but a high protien diet can lead to elevated BG
649848 tn?1534633700 s not great for a large portion of the population including people with health problems, the overall long term effect of a large population on this diet is not known, and it is a difficult diet to maintain. It actually might be a really great way to lose a large amount of fat quickly for some people, but they're not going to rank it high on a list of diets if it is not sustainable or if most people are unable to be on this diet for whatever reason. Keto diet pros: 1.
Tbd Seems to me diabetes is reversible However its very hard to do Eat right, control your weight and exercise. Many doctors strongly recommend a vegan diet, especially Neal Bernard MD.
Avatar f tn Hi, great of you to be helping him. High blood sugar can make a person feel really bad, as well as causing longer term complications. Regarding the tiredness, he should also have his thyroid checked, in case that contributes. The best way I know to get great blood sugar control is by cutting carbs. This is the now popular "keto" diet, but focusing on eating enough protein and low carb veges, rather than eating too much fat.
Avatar f tn One of the only things that gave me a little relief was a Ketogenic diet. This type of diet is high in fat, moderate protein an low to no carbohydrates. I recently had an improvement in my finances and decided to find out what was going on with my body. I was referred to an internist who's philosophy was to treat the body as a whole instead of just managing symptoms with "bandaids". I thought this was a good place to start.
Avatar n tn When your body is in ketossis you can side effects like bad breath and increased body odor with an unpleasent smell and digestive issues. Keep in mind keto is a short time diet and not a deffinitive one because if you keep it for a long time your body will not have enough fat to bune anymore and this is not what you want.
Avatar n tn I had suffer from acne since puberty, my face is very greasy, just a couple of years ago, started treating it with external ointments and soaps and it has been working pretty well so far. Recently I have been interested on starting a keto diet, but since it has so many greas rich food, would it affect me negatively? i doin't want to start having breakouts again.
Avatar n tn I personally eat a Ketogenic diet of 20g or less net carbs a day. Most of my diet comes from meat, cheese and non-starchy vegetables. The high levels of fat in my diet help keep me satiated and promotes weight loss. I also tend to avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible. I eat gluten free and grain free.
Avatar f tn Keto in NOT a high protein diet. It’s a low carb, medium protein and high fat diet.
Avatar f tn the keto diet is a great way to lose weight, but it will leave your body lacking in nutrients. I wouldn't try making a "keto cookie" with coconut flour, but just keep to your diet and give yourself a reward on the weekends. I found some great treats at Trader Joes and Sprouts that are within the diets guidelines that are great for everyday (dark chocolates, protein bread that has almost no carbs, keto friendly pizza!).
Avatar f tn Of course, 50 years from now we'll have some good research on high protein diets probably, but since they differ so much one from another it won't apply to any one diet. One thing to worry about is the lack of complex carbs, which provide long lasting energy, the over-consumption of animal protein, and the lack of veggies.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I noticed my BG is about 70-74 fasting in the morning since on Keto. Before that I was on a 500 cal a day liquid diet, and my fasting was 58-69. So I've noticed that after a jog that my BG will rise. Once to 100, another time to 96, and this morning to 83. Does this mean anything? Does it mean I'm a full blown diabetic? Where's my body getting glycogen from(I know liver) if I'm not consuming carbs?
Avatar f tn My ketones were a 5 in urine also. Mind you I am not on a keto diet at all. My kidney function and liver function blood work is all normal and doesn't show anything wrong. I sometimes get pains where my kidneys are but it goes away within minutes. I get to see my doctor on Friday and want to ask for additional testing but not sure what. Any ideas on what this could be or what additional testing I should ask for? Would it come up if I had a bacterial infection? Thanks in advance!!!!
Avatar f tn I've heard about the loss of smell happening but not the opposite, I wish the smell was all it was, I have a very long list of things going on that shouldn't be. Slamming doors give me vertigo and I get these odd losses of consciousness, kind of a jump cut effect, one second I'm here, the next I'm there, it's not absent mindedness, it's quite jarring.
Avatar f tn You assume these types of questions have answers, but they don't. Individuals don't get the same results, as out bodies differ in all kinds of ways and there is no normal. However, that being said, most likely, no permanent damage has been done, and you might as well just assume that's the case.
Avatar n tn When determining how much calories you need use the mifflin st jeor equation which is considered the most accurate then from here you calculate your macros. Meaning what percentage will your diet be fat, protein, and carbs. A good diet for the prevention and management of DMT2 is the Mediterranean diet. This diet is 50% carbs and then you can play around with your fat and protein intake giving one 20% and/ or one 30%. Your macros have to equal 100%.
Avatar f tn I’ve also been on a ketogenic diet since July and and this week I’ve broken my diet by snacking on a few popsicles and some crackers. I’m worried this weight is going to stick around and I’m very concerned. Help! Ps. Sorry if this is TMI, but I haven’t really pooped much this week. I assumed it was because I haven’t really been eating, but could it be a contributing factor? Thank you!
Avatar n tn Has anyone had experience with NATURAL diet pill type supplements like Leptitox (bit.ly/leptitoxinfo)? I've previously tried many things including the Keto diet which didn't do much for me. I have read rave reviews and heard from friends who also didn't have results from Keto and other diets that Leptitox helped them immensely. They have a pretty convincing brief on their site. Wanted to ask if anyone has had experience as I'm very cautious trying new things. Thanks in advance!
Avatar f tn In fact lost 12 pounds since January and now weigh 141. do not drink more than once a year, so any suggestions on a good diet to prevent type 2?
Avatar m tn If your morning erections are good then the cause is psychological. Mean while you should take protein diet, regular exercise, remain stress free, and remove sex related anxiety. Stop watching porn and do not indulge in excessive masturbation. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Keto diet is a great toll for managing diabetes, just make sure that you use high fat not high protein, a good range for me was 70%fat 20%protein 5%carbs,
Avatar f tn There's no such thing as "a" keto diet. There are a lot of diets that sell a lot of things and a lot of them say they are keto diets, so exactly what is it you intend to eat?
