I have kidney damage (kidney disease) due to an autoimmune disease. Kidney function is at 26% now, up from 20%. Autoimmune disease is in remission since I had all the mercury fillings removed from my teeth.

Avatar n tn The good news is that you got the diagnosis early. While there is no cure for kidney disease or failure, there are things you can do to slow down the damage to the kidney tissue. Phosphorus is to be avoided as much as possible. As for meds, I found most of them to be expensive and not all that effective. One of the best things you can do is add calcium to your dog's diet, because it binds to phosphorus and gets it out of the body.
Avatar n tn it is too soon for you to be even asking these questions or getting worried as there is no evidence 9ie a trace of protein alone) that yiouo do have kidney disease. That can only be established by bloods. many people who get stage one or two, never progress and lead completely normal lives, having no idea they even have it. I am hovering now on stage 4 and only just now noticing the classic symptoms.
Avatar f tn Im very sick and cant get anyone to help. Ive even had a dr tell me he wont diagnose me with kidney disease until I get insurance so I got insurance and they denied coverage before he even diagnosed me. I then had to quit working due to illness. Now Ive got no job and no insurance and no help. What do all these results mean? Whats the next step? Who will help me?
Avatar m tn m eating per day. What I did notice, and since have changed, is that I was eating too much protein. My BG levels had crept up to 150 and I had started eating these low carb high protein bars as snacks. Once I stopped eating those my BG levels came down to the 130's. I have since reduce protein amounts and I'm seeing fasting numbers in the 120 and under range. Any one else experience higher BG levels with too much protein?
Avatar f tn Hello there, I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease about 2 years ago and now I am in complete kidney failure. As for time no one can tell you that. But my advice to you is to take your meds as your doctor tells you and take good care of yourself. I did not follow my doctors advice and now I am on dialysis 3 times a week 4 hours a day.

Avatar n tn Hello, The symptoms are definitely suggestive of kidney disease. You should get an ultrasound kidneys and kidney function tests done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Could my BUN have been normal and still have kidney disease or failure, and also no protein was found in my urine, soo......????
Avatar f tn Hi. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 Kidney Disease 6 months or so ago. She is morbidly obese and has type 2 diabetes and extremely uncontrolled high blood pressure, and a severe panic disorder. She started a low carb/high protein diet when she was diagnosed. She has lowered the amount of insulin she needs from 160 units a day to 60 units which is great. But since this diet her high blood pressure has sky rocketed. We were in the ER twice last week with blood pressures greater than 200.
Avatar f tn In patients with chronic kidney disease you need to limit fluids, eat a low-protein diet, restricting salt, potassium, phosphorous, and other electrolytes and at the same time get sufficient calories. Few dietitians specialize in kidney diets. Your dietitian can help you create a diet to fit your needs. There have been few studies which found that low protein diets can delay end‐stage kidney disease.
Avatar n tn That being said, a low carb diet might mean you are eating way too much protein, or it could mean you just eat somewhat more protein. Eating too much protein can cause kidney problems. Statins, as far as I know and I'm not an expert, are more of a problem for the liver and the joints. Talk to your doc, but if when you got the test the doc didn't call you in for further investigation it meant most likely the doc didn't see any real problem.
Avatar f tn Drinking too much water rarely causes overhydration when the body's systems are working normally. On the other hand, people with heart, kidney, or liver disease are more likely to develop overhydration because their kidneys are unable to excrete water normally. It may be necessary for people with these disorders to restrict the amount of water they drink and/or adjust the amount of salt in their diets. Hope this helps!
Avatar m tn There is a combined diagnostic process for kidney disease. This includes BUN, creatinine, phosphorus, calcium and potassium levels in blood. Specific gravity and protein leakage (and any UTIs) in urine testing. Blood pressure check. Ideally, a scan and xrays of the kidneys. If possible, an SDMA (Idexx Labs) test should be done as well. Collectively, these are the indicators for kidney disease, although only some of them being abnormal would point to early disease.
20022623 tn?1489116397 I am feeding Royal Canin Renal wet food (NOT dry) and I also supplement with a little protein (since the renal food is low protein and protein restriction is controversial in early to moderate kidney disease) and other low phosphorus foods since my dog is picky and won't eat the canned food alone. Low phosphorus is important in kidney disease.
Avatar m tn foaming in urine, protein and blood are all signs of kidney disease. I have stage 3 and all those symptoms. HOWEVER, kidney disease doe not cause the body to shrink or hair fall out!!!!
Avatar m tn The biggest fear often expressed about whey protein intake is that too much protein is “bad for the kidneys.” Research though has shown this is not true at all in healthy individuals. For those with known kidney disease, high protein diets can exacerbate pre-existing conditions. Healthy individuals, without any underlying or unknown kidney disease have nothing to worry about with higher intakes of protein.
Avatar f tn Hi Anna. Pancreatitis is a common complication with kidney disease and needs to be guarded against, usually by being forewarned if it creeping in through having very regular (monthly) blood level checks. It can both be triggered and made significantly worse by high fat content in the diet, which you probably know by now.
Avatar f tn considiring auto immune is good theory since evry autoimmune disease have kidney involvement at some extent. suppose its wegeners disease that would involve lungs with kidney.and if it is alports disease that would involve ear problems. hope ur daughter get better .if u still have any questions please dont hesitAte.
