I have completed 19 weeks treatment on interferon and ribavirina, I was virus clear within three months and results are good but its tough. One problem being I live in Spain and although I speak a little Spanish and my consultant a little english and we muddle along nicely it is refreshing to find this page and I've just spent an hour reading.... and nodding... and identifying....

I had to stop tx at 23 instead of 24 because of severe mouth sores. I had ulcers on the sides of my tongue and on the insides of my checks. I al so got thoes bumps on the end of your tongue. Anything like Mexican food or pizza burned my mouth real bad. I tried miracle wash- you get from dentist. and I rinsed with biotine for dry mouth. The corners of my mouth felt like like they were burned. Dr. said use cream like monistat. It did help.

why is my tongue sore, numb and tingling and ulcers on my mouth all of a sudden

copegus - i have some of the normal sx but all of a sudden i have a very sore throat, roof of mouth and sore, raw tongue. my tongue seems to be very dry and it burns. i still have my tonsils and think i have gotten tonsilitis (sore throat & hard to swallow) this has been going on for a week now - any suggestions? anyone experience this before?

I, too, have had a slight fever, but severe pain from ulcers on my tongue and on the roof of my mouth. The pain is from the tip of my tongue to the root, palate, throat, and even to my right ear. An MD glanced at my mouth and said I have a few ulcers and offered only some numbing mouthwash. I want to know why this is happening, not put a bandaid on it. Have you gotten information on your similar problem?

Last time I took treatment about half way through my tongue got these little bumps on it an it wasn't pleasant Now after just a week and a half the same bumps are on my tongue, hurts, Burns so bad when I eat. I remember this from last time because I thought to myself people don't even realize what they have until they don't have it. I know sounds weird. Does anyone else have this problem? My problem starts from 6 months before, i have sore tongue and have ulcers in my mouth then i went to dr he told me for the blood test,after my blood test reports says i have vitamin B12 deficiency my leel was 81.

What is the best OTC treatment for dry mouth and especially sore and painful tongue caused by dry mouth. Biotene samples are not giving me the relief I need and neither is saliva subsitute. They only last less than a minute. I have been constantly chewing bubble gum because I don't know what else to do but that is making my tongue more raw and sore and causing minor mouth sores.

I had the tongue ulcers very badly on treatment, they are very painful aren't they? The good news is that they are caused by the interferon and should go away within two weeks of stopping treatment. The bad news for me was none of the fixes worked (Magic Mouthwash worked for some, also Dr. Jacobson told me to mix up a paste of Maalox and Liquid Benedryl which didn't help me either though I tried). Have you taken the steroids tablets? If not, do. Then, if the tablets aren't helping you you should reconsult her and see what she wants to do. I can really say you need any "second opinion" at this moment. To say this is cancer would be presumptuous at this point.

Some people swear by DGL - Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice as an alternative treatment for ulcers and digestive issues. The thing is, if it's getting worse it sounds like you need to get this looked at by a doctor as soon as possible - even if you have to find another doc or walk into an emergency dept of a hospital.

I honestly don't know. I had sex with somebody while drunk and I don't think we used a condom. I can't ask him as I don't have his info. 5mg of Synthroid daily, is it safe for me to take the supplements and reduce the Synthroid as l am trying to find away of reducing the effects of taking these drugs, not only can l not lose weight l also keep getting really painful mouth and tongue ulcers which research has suggested can be a side effect of thyroid problems.

m 35 weeks today, the past few weeks my tongue has developed these little ulcers.. ALL (ob, family and dentist) my doctors say they are normal with pregnancy and will go away on their own.. 5 months for HIV, syphillis and herpes all negative. Doctor presribed steroid paste for tongue. When I take it the ulcers on the boarder of my tongue go away only to return a few days later. I am confident I am HIV negative but would like to find out what is causing these ulcers. If you are able to find out please let me know.

I got my tongue pierced about a year and half ago, but I have suddenly got a lot of ulcers in around my mouth and my tongue and gums are swollen and i just wanted to know if that had anything to do with my tongue piercing. my tongue piercing looks pretty normal apart from the fact that my tongue is swollen and the end of it is numb and funny feeling as if i've burnt the to of it.

Okay...this is not even mildly humourous anymore. When my tongue first started burning, I thought it was freezer burn from eating ice cream. Obviously, now that weeks more have passed, that's not the case. I kid not..my tongue stings all the time and it is so painful. I hate the litocain. It seems worse to not feel your mouth at all! In conjunction with her teeth issues, she also developed these blisters, or aphthous ulcers in her tongue and cheeks. At least you haven't gotten the tongue ulcers on top of it - boy oh boy I was nauseaus from the phelgm and couldn't eat because of the stupid tongue bumps...I am sorry but I think this is indeed common (unless that is you have gotten a virus or something else along with it) but nothing ever tasted right until about two weeks after my last shot of interferon. But then, I ate an Oreo cookie and cried - and I never was that fond of them before but it was the bestest thing I ever ate.
