Today I am 19, and I have trouble speaking 100% and words/sentences end up being tongue twisters for me. It makes me unconfident when I want to ask a question knowing I probably wouldn't be able to say it right. It's like when I speak my tongue kind of trips itself, or better say that it gets "stiff". The sentences that I really have problems with saying usually include alliteration in them, or that.
I have had some feedback from my sons nursery, which completely contradicts his tutors assessments and views. My son is 3.5 and is currently working at end of reception yr in number and letters/phonics. The nursery is saying that because he doesn't have one particular interest that they can tune into, he will struggle at school.
Now this completely contradicts a reception teacher who sees him often enough to sugggest he is gifted.
His brain does not process phonics we have tried and tried so this year I said no phonics! and lets try whole word reading. He was reading almost to grade level and she put phonics back into the picture and now he is jot reading at all. Do I have a right to be upset or are my hormones just taking over?
Wowza! Real tongue twisters! I have a Carson and a Dawson and often call them Darson in a fluster! If you like the rhythm of those names with the "y" spelling, than Dylan is real cute! You could choose Dawson and spell it, Dasyn. I believe this is a Native American spelling, but it does follow your theme!
i have started putting my ipad up to my belly with YouTube videos of phonics and learning stuff and he reacts to the sound...i just cant wait to meet my lil guy.
I've read up that by toughening up your nipples you can stand in the sun for about 5min every day so that the uv rays can penetrate your skin, and not through a window. I'll be 36weeks on Friday and will start doing that everyday before baba gets here. Don't use any chemicals as this won't help, try not to moisturise the nipples too much as it will soften it up and make sure to give your nipples enough ventilation.
They make all kinds of games for kids as they are learning. Phonics games, math games, Scholastic has a lot. I also like teachers supply stores, they have an unending supply of fun educational things for kids to do.
To foster creativity, buy things for her to make collages out of. Music may interest her------ a kindermusik program or musicgarten (google for places in your area).
Make sure you pursue physical endeavors and social endeavors as well.
with in these 9 months he learned like hunderds of words and spelling,phonics. and also he started reading himself kindergarten books.he knows his colours,shapes,alphabets,counting,and he is learining additions himself by lookin g at the chart.
but he is not sitting still in the school in circle time,sometimes not listing to teacher,would not finish the task fully,when teacher calls his name he is not paying attention,less eye contact in the school and in the home.
moerover, he has suffered from typhoid also when he was very very young due to which his tongue just rolled and still sometimes he can speak clearly. so i wanted to know whether it can be case of problem like dyslexia or attention defficit hyperactivity syndrom. and how can i help this child to my best level.
For some reason phonics was introduced to supposedly help those with reading writing problems, yet those with those problems tend not to learn through phonetics!!
I too have been told to encourage reading by choosing a book he is interested in, and then reading the parts that he cannot read and encouraging him to read what he recognises, even if it is only one word out of the whole page.
It is certainly possible that he is simply a little behind in the reading readiness/phonics area. It is also possible that his struggles indicate a learning disability - that is the reason I suggested the evaluation. First graders' ability to concentrate is limited, but it generally suffices to grasp the reading process, a major goal of first grade. Motivation varies from child to child and can be hampered if a child is struggling and therefore does not find enjoyment/success in school.
last night I had a dream about an amusement park and twisters kept coming through as I was running with my kids to safety. I almost lost my youngest twice but wouldn't let go. Another was a huge tornado that we barely escaped from and I used my body to shield the kids even though I was big n preg and got all cut up.
He just completed his k5 year and has been in speech for two years. The speech therapist believes he has a language based delay. K5 was very difficult with the phonics approach. After 6 mos of trying to teach him the alphabet and sounds with little success, I bought a leapfrog DVD. Surprisingly, within a few weeks, he knew ALL of his letters and sounds. As far as going to blends, it was an epic fail.
With my 2 y/o son if he hasn't taken a nap i try to lay down with my 14month old cuz i know my 2 year old will wake me up if he needed something n he doesn't get into anything he just plays with his own toys or he'll put a movie in and watch it but i don't do it all the time.
Omg! My hubby has requested a name change three times. They all have parts of his name incorporated but I'm just frustrated with the changes. His last pick is Christopher Carter. I would prefer Carter Christopher. I am going to wait and see what the next mth brings. I am ready to say "enough is enough". Good luck ladies, I feel your pain!
The fimbriated fold under my tongue is sore and swollen. It has a little whiteness at the ebd of it also. I was wondering if this is something serious or not.
I have CFS for about 8 months now and have had white coated tongue as well. Now I notice few small red bumps back of my tongue. is this normal and has one experience the same thing. Thanks in advance.
My tongue for almost 2 months feels like it has been stuck in a 9 volt battery. This sensation goes from the tip to the middle of the tongue. It has like a metal feeling? It is really bothersome.
I have a student who tongue actually gets stuck to the roof of his mouth. The doctor ordered Valium 2 mg because he thought it was seizure related, but the Valium does not help. He was in the ER for 5 hours during the weekend. Believe it or not Benadryl helped him.
This might occur 2-3 times per day while in school. He cannot swallow. He does not drool and not having body movements or anything else that resembles a seizure. No pain involved and no spasm of the tongue.
