Hi - I was at the doctor two weeks ago because I had an infection around my wisdom tooth (periodontist I believe it's called). I had this a few years ago so I knew what it was immediately. The doctor put me on amoxicillian and it feels all better. However, about a week ago I started getting a few small sores around the gums on the other side of my mouth. I thought maybe I was just getting canker sores (had these before too).
I performed cunnilingus on a prostitute 1 week after I had both my wisdom teeth extracted. I was also using my insivible aligners, so i believe there was a few sores on my tongue. I'm really worried I may contracted HIV from the act.. I read online that it's possible when there are oral lesions present, and i'm really anxious and afraid because of that. Am I at risk?
I got a canker sore insde my cheeks next to the wisdom tooth,i think i bit my cheek and cut inside, next day it developed an annoying canker sore, I could not eat properly because it was hurting, so days passed the canker healed and left this very small pimple like i can feel with my tongue, . its benn like 2 weeks and still this pimple.

mouth and tongue on the left side at the back like where I had my wisdom teeth pulled several years ago,well now it's sore in the entire back of my mouth and on both sides and my whole tonge is sore.there aren't any visible sores or bumps that I can see and it's not sore like burning sore it's sore like muscle sore and like I would have ulcers if I looked but there are no bumps or anything that I can see there..
I last went to the dentist 4 months ago and she did specifically say one of my wisdom teeth was impacted and that to make sure I kept it clean etc and that potentially (if it gave me trouble), I'd have to have it out.
Now as of January 1st, I've not been very well... I had what I would describe as mild sinusitis which affected my ears, nose, face (under eyes), gave me headaches and left me generally tired out. Those kinds of symptoms have been lurking on and off until now.
The other night I was making out with this guy who I like, and I noticed that he had something that felt like a sore on his lip. Later on that night, I gave him oral sex... The next morning I woke up and found that I had a sore on each side of my tongue (they rub against my bottom molars). They hurt and look a little bit like canker sores, but I've never gotten a canker sore on my tongue, so I'm trying to find out if it's something I should be worried about...
You may want to contact your local dental society or the local dental school to get it checked out and find some lower cost dental treatment options. Canker sores/cold sores don't worry me in regards to increased cancer risk at this point. I would worry more about your immune system if you had frequent cold sores such as once a month or multiple ones at a time.
I am 32 now, and last week I just began to notice the exact same symtom on the left edge of the tongue! For several years I have noticed that a wisdom tooth is on the move in the upper left side. It is actually popped through the skin at this point. Do these nerves for the edges of the tongue run through the same area of wisdom teeth? I havent been to a dentist in about 6 years...
On Easter Sunday i felt a tingling sensation and it ended up being a large yuck thing on the inside of my lower lip wich hurt (that part went away after maybe 3 days or so) and then i had all these tiny white spots on my cheeks and tongue with it and they didnt hurt except my the front of my tongue felt sore a lot. Well today April 3rd they seem to have cleared up mostly and then i ate a chocolate rabit and more of them appeared??? Is this mouth herpes, canker sores, allergic reaction?
I, too, had my wisdom removed and am now suffering from tongue numbness. My doctor says that it will probably take a couple of weeks for the feeling to return. It has only been one week and I am already higly frustrated. After reading the comments and doing research, I believe that my doctor is lying to me to make himself feel better for what has happended. As a teacher, the need for clear and quick articulation is essential.
I have had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and my tongue remained numb for one month.
I am a Dental Nurse and know that wisdom tooth removal can cause temporary or permenant numbness of the tongue due to damage to the lingual nerve.
If you are concerned, I would recommend going back to see you Dentist.
Hi, I have just had 2 wisdom teeth removed 4 days ago. One of them had been infected requiring 2 courses of antibiotics and I'm on my third course now after the extraction. My concern now is with my tongue, today I noticed a red circle near the tip where the "buds" look slightly inflamed and a whitish ring around it. I was given some medicated mouthwash to use. It isn't painful I'm just concerned why it would suddenly appear.
i had a wisdom tooth pulled out in oct 09 and 3 months on its not any beta at all, it effects everythin even the way i speak. is this permanent? cos its causing a real problem for me. before surgery i wasnt told of any side effects that cud effect my tongue

I have a strange odor and taste by my wisdom teeth, mostly the bottom ones. They don't hurt but they just smell awful. I have rinsed with peroxide, warm salt water, and brush thoroughly in there location but the smell and taste will not go away. what is it? should I have them removed right away?
s a bit more red than theaverage geographical tongue. Moving my tongue and tensing my tongue hurts as well(it hurts the spot only). I had my wisdom teeth removed a few days ago and i've been using Colgate Savacol Antiseptic mouthwash to clean my mouth and i have a feeling the burning sensation caused this red patch on my tongue but i'm not sure. Is it geographical tongue?
Katester- I had sores in my mouth & tongue during tx. My Dr prescribed stalin, it worked. It would clear it up within a couple of days. Avoid eating mushrooms. they're a fungus & it will make it worse.

Thank you for your post about what happened to you with your tongue numbness from your wisdom teeth extraction. I had my lower left wisdom tooth removed on October 29th 2008 - and here it is, almost 2 months later - and the left bottom side of my gums and tongue are still numb. I totally understand what you mean about the loss of intimacy thing. French kissing is out - as well as other things - for us too and this is very sad indeed.
It is at the very back, approximately parallel to my backmost wisdom teeth. At either, outer edge of the "raised", harder, circular center of the palate, if brushed with my tongue, I can feel an unusual texture. It feels a bit rough or I suppose just textured in general would also suffice to explain.
About 5 months ago, I started experiencing small eroded sores on the sides of my tongue where my tongue touches my teeth, near the back of my mouth. These patches have persisted to this day.
In the beginning, it was typically just 1 small sore at a time. These sores typically had a very thin white ring around the outside edge and areas grew slowly over a course of several days, until the white ring disappeared and the patches stopped growing.
About 5 months ago, I started experiencing small eroded sores on the sides of my tongue where my tongue touches my teeth, near the back of my mouth. These patches have persisted to this day.

The area under my tongue tingled for 2 days straight about 10 days after the encounter - although all my research says that tingling is not a symptom of a first time infection.
The back of my throat hurts, alternating from left to right side (hurts right in the area of the wisdom tooth).
Raw open skin on the inside of my lower lip - but I find I bite the inside of my lip a lot and these two marks are aligned with my teeth.
