Avatar m tn It all started with a severe outbreak of sores on his tongue, spastic movements, and repetitive sounds, etc. The first episode lasted almost a month, but docs said it was "just a phase." After this, we had week long episodes about every 2-3 months.
Avatar f tn i have burning inside my mouth and cancor sores underneath my tongue. even chewing gum burns my mouth and i can't use toothpaste. i use peroxide to brush my teeth because i have sores that come and go on the right side of my mouth to the gums and underneath and along side my tongue on the right side. i had a dentist tell me this was more than likely a vitamin deficiency of some sort but after all this time i tend to think it is possibly an acid surplus.
Avatar f tn t talk with my tongue inside of my mouth because if I did i would bite down on the sores on the side of my tongue. Well...by the end of the school day, on Friday, the swelling had gone down but the sores started burning and i was able to make the burning go away for a second but now I can't even seem to make the burn go away from even a mili second. Its really aggervating. Last night, while in bed, I was able to sleep but not longer than every ten minutes.
Avatar f tn Besides the tingling and muscle spasms, I have vision problems, extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, gastritis, and red swollen tongue. I can deal with most of this, but my tongue I cant. It is always sore. My papilla fall off leaving big swollen red sores. I can barely taste anything. Eating is extremely painful. I have terrible stomach pain everyday. My doctor put me on nexium and my mouth is even more sore. I almost faint when I stand up.
Avatar n tn Inflamed papillae can sometimes cause small, painful bumps on the top surface or upper sides of your tongue. Tongue sores are usually caused by trauma, physical injury, bacterial or viral infections, vitamin deficiencies and tonsillitis. If sores are large, painful, or persistent, it is best to consult a doctor. It is best to avoid citrus fruits and acidic vegetables and spicy foods till it is cured.
Avatar n tn I went to my dentist 4 days ago and he did a mouth exam and looked at my mouth neck jaw under my tongue and the roof of my mouth and when he was done said mouth sores, canker sores but why are they so slow healing I have used salt water and anything you can think of. PS help what should I do I have also been to two doctors and they said the same thing.
Avatar n tn Hi, Since you have mentioned that the lesions on your tongue are quite painful, the only important lesion which I can think of is canker sores/aphthous ulcers. They commonly occur on the tongue or on the inside of the mouth. I don’t think there’s much to worry about as they usually resolve over a period of time and you need to seek an opinion from your health care practitioner only if they don’t seem to heal.
Avatar f tn My 18 yr old son has a couple bad canker sores one on side of tongue one right on top of mouth right behind front teeth. Our Dr. prescribed an ointment over phone for him yesterday and it is helping the one on his tongue but his gums are still really swollen on the top so much so it coming through his front 2 teeth. I am hoping he just needs another couple days on medicine. Has anyone else ever experienced this? He is worried it isn't going to shrink back to normal.
Avatar f tn You may want to contact your local dental society or the local dental school to get it checked out and find some lower cost dental treatment options. Canker sores/cold sores don't worry me in regards to increased cancer risk at this point. I would worry more about your immune system if you had frequent cold sores such as once a month or multiple ones at a time.
Avatar f tn the sides of my tongue are quite sore and very cracked. it looks like someone was sharpening a knife against them. the top of my tongue is a little sensitive. i feel like it came about all at once. ive had this problem a few days now, and its only gotten worse. what is this mystery ailment caused by? and what should i do about it! i am a 30 year old female.
Avatar m tn as before inside lips, cheeks and had a painful tongue. All my symptoms are now gone other than my tongue which is patchy and feels as though it is burnt, the patchy areas seem as though they are bald and it is mainly the centre of the tongue that looks like this. My throat and soft palate is still red and tonsils look swollen (definitely not as much as before and they arent painful) but throat feels dry and almost scratchy.
Avatar m tn Subsequently, I have had two severe outbreaks with sores all in my mouth, tongue, cheeks, and a few lesions in the genital area (first time for this ever). Severe enough that I could not eat for 3 days. Doctor suggested upping dose for valtrex from 1 g to 3 g for 7 days. I had blood panels done the only noticeable thing was a pretty low Vitamin D level (17) and high triglycerides (210). My question is: is this common?
Avatar n tn I have these red bumps on my tongue that look like inflamed taste buds. They are painful, mostly when I eat spicy or acidic foods. Also, some of them bleed when I brush my tongue, it is also very painful to brush my tongue. Why is this?
Avatar m tn m pretty sure I read that these cough drops can cause the canker sores. My main issue is now I have this painful bump in the back of my throat/mouth/tongue. I've had this pain for about a week now and seems to be getting worse. I've googled what it could be but with no luck. I can't see this bump but i can feel it and it seems like its where the tongue connects to the back side of my mouth near the tonsil on the right side of my mouth.
Avatar f tn The other night I was making out with this guy who I like, and I noticed that he had something that felt like a sore on his lip. Later on that night, I gave him oral sex... The next morning I woke up and found that I had a sore on each side of my tongue (they rub against my bottom molars). They hurt and look a little bit like canker sores, but I've never gotten a canker sore on my tongue, so I'm trying to find out if it's something I should be worried about...

Avatar f tn I recommend that people who have recurrent canker sores check with the physician first, and then consider 1000 mcg of vitamin B12. It has made a major difference in my life. No more suffering, no more pain." A. We tracked down the study you read about. It was published in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine (Jan-Feb., 2009). The investigators used a sublingual (under the tongue) form of vitamin B12.
Avatar n tn t know if the vitamin D3 will help with the mouth sores. I know in the last week or two a few people have talked about mouth ulcers or sores, but I'm not sure what causes them. Avatar f tn Also the area below my gums, the crevice between the gum and cheek, in the 4 areas below my molars the skin is very irritated with sores and the skin over top of the sores is white and peels away. I also have sores on the side of my tongue, where it attaches to the back of my throat is red, irritated and white skin forms over it, but it peels away easily (like the crevices).
