Avatar n tn My son has developed painful sores on the sides and front of his tongue. What causes this and how can we ease the pain?
Avatar f tn I have been getting these very painful sores, usually on the tip of my tongue, that I can barely see, except for a tiny hole the size of a pin in the center. Peroxide doesn't help much and eating makes it worse. It is almost unbearable. I have been very busy lately and haven't been able to ask my dentist, but I'm afraid he will just shrug anyway. These sores are recurring and I usually have one coming or going.
1389305 tn?1279817973 You can ask your parents to make you an appoinment and bring you there. Usually you should see the doctor or dentist if the canker sores last two weeks or longer. If it gets to be too bad, you may want to go into the doctor right away. Most canker sores will heal on their own. You may want to ask your parents to give you some ibuprofen or tylenol to help with the pain. They can be very painful. I hope you feel better soon. Take care.
Avatar m tn Have you ever informed your dentist or physician in regards to your canker sores? Recurring frequent canker sores can be due to another underlying disease so it would be best to see a physician to rule those out.
Avatar f tn Hi - I was at the doctor two weeks ago because I had an infection around my wisdom tooth (periodontist I believe it's called). I had this a few years ago so I knew what it was immediately. The doctor put me on amoxicillian and it feels all better. However, about a week ago I started getting a few small sores around the gums on the other side of my mouth. I thought maybe I was just getting canker sores (had these before too).
Avatar n tn I have had mouth sores for 14 days .I went to my dentist 4 days ago and he did a mouth exam and looked at my mouth neck jaw under my tongue and the roof of my mouth and when he was done said mouth sores, canker sores but why are they so slow healing I have used salt water and anything you can think of. PS help what should I do I have also been to two doctors and they said the same thing.
Avatar f tn You may want to contact your local dental society or the local dental school to get it checked out and find some lower cost dental treatment options. Canker sores/cold sores don't worry me in regards to increased cancer risk at this point. I would worry more about your immune system if you had frequent cold sores such as once a month or multiple ones at a time.
Avatar m tn Underside of my tongue and bottom of my mouth under my tongue are sore. No visible sore but it looks like the salivary glands are red. Is it some viral thing or something else? Kind of has me worried. I've made an appointment with my regular doctor but wonder if I should be seeing a dentist instead.
Avatar f tn About a month a ago my tongue became very irritated. I thought maybe I was suffering from canker sores, but my symptoms are not consistent with canker sores. The symptoms are as follows 1. Burning/Itching sides of tongue (mostly the base of the tongue underneath) 2. The top/tip of my tongue felt like it was burning for about 2 weeks then stopped 3. Whenever I eat spicy or acidic foods my symptoms increase tremendously 4. Also my cheeks and inner lips sometimes itch as well.
Avatar f tn A few days later, it is still painful but now a couple of white spots have developed. When I rub my tongue over the sores it almost tastes salty and as if my gum is punctured. What could this be? Am I in need of medical care?
Avatar f tn I also stopped using Listerine and starting using crest clinical moiuthwash and I rarely get them now. As far as your tongue is concerned your dentist would probably have an answer.
Avatar f tn s possible that they could still appear on the tongue. Does this look like herpes/cold sore? The sores do not hurt unless I bite or touch them with my teeth. They've been there for about a week now. My other thought is that it might be a canker sore or something.
Avatar m tn Went to Dentist today that ordered a biopsy on white lesions ( which to me looks like a white film and patches on tongue) on cheeks and sides of tongue. The white film on tongue and cheeks does not slough off which the dentist said is better then having it scrape off and have redness underneath. About 2 months ago I performed oral sex on a male and I am also male. I believe I swallowed but know I did not do anything other then that.
Avatar n tn A friend of mine has pink sores at the back of her tongue just on the sides at the back they are small in size and pink in color, they are not painful. In the morning she sometimes has a sore throat. What could it be? Very worried for her.
Avatar m tn Inflamed papillae can sometimes cause small, painful bumps on the top surface or upper sides of your tongue. Tongue sores are usually caused by trauma, physical injury, bacterial or viral infections, vitamin deficiencies and tonsillitis. If sores are large, painful, or persistent, it is best to consult a doctor. It is best to avoid citrus fruits and acidic vegetables and spicy foods till it is cured.
Avatar f tn About 2 weeks ago my husband noticed some spots on the side and top of his tongue. They seemed to have gone away then the one on top came back just a few days later pretty much in the same spot. Yesterday another one poped up on the border of his tongue. It seemed to get big fast. It looks like a bare spot with a white border but it not as red as the top spot. Could this be geographical tongue or something more serious like tongue cancer? He did visit the dentist and they feel it's GT.
Avatar m tn it's very unlikely you have hsv2 orally. It could be your hsv1 reoccuring from the "trauma'" of the dental work. could also be a reaction to something they are using too. discuss it with your dentist the next time you are there.
Avatar n tn It doesn't come & go..it just keeping developing. I do smoke & quit last week. I also have a white coating on the back of my tongue & canker sores on the tip. I haven't been to the dentist because I'm so scared.
Avatar f tn Could my tongue problem be from syphilis? I’m freaking myself out and I can’t stop googling.
Avatar n tn My dentist tells me they don't fit because of the protruding toris bones and would have to have them surgically removed
Avatar n tn This does look like geographic tongue to me, yes. Not herpes. Now whether you have oral herpes is an entirely different question. Have you had any antibody testing? Generally speaking, after first episode, herpes doesn't cause symptoms on the tongue. If you've not been tested, you want IgG only (no igM) for HSV 1 and 2 (just so you cover all the bases).
Avatar f tn hi everyone,, im 28 male , i had sex on feb 27 2012 with strange girl that hiv stats is unknown to me it was protected oral and vaginal sex but the condom slipt off while im taking mine out so i used a new one , after 4 weeks i noticed something strange with my mouth ! i thought its oral cancer or so !
Avatar f tn The same spot blisters/sores tend to be herpetic (cold sores). I would not suggest popping it, nor touching it with your fingers. Herpetic sores DO transfer to other parts of the body: patient touched sore -> rubbed eye -> transfer. Again I would suggest looking for some way to get a definitive diagnosis.
Avatar n tn The following day she noticed what looked like canker sores in the roof of her mouth so she went to the dentist. The dentist ruled it out as canker sores and the tongue as nothing. When I looked at it, there were 5 or 6 sores in the roof of her mouth. Those healed in a couple of days and she has been fine now for a few days (Just after two weeks since the possible exposure). On to me: 4 days after she started with the burning tongue, mine did the EXACT same thing.
1855970 tn?1325823613 The past few days I've noticed bumps on the back of my tongue... they were just visible if I stuck my tongue out far and didnt hurt or anything. But today, one of the bumps toward the left side just feels annoying. Like when a popcorn kernel gets stuck on the back of your tongue... thats what it feels like. I tried using a toothbrush to kind of 'brush' it away, and it didnt work.
