Common Questions and Answers about Tongue sore on right side

sore

I have had a sore tongue for a couple of weeks now, it is only sore on the right side and it feels as if i have bitten my tongue. Does anyone know what could be causing this? This discussion is related to Sore, swollen tongue.
Two weeks ago Friday I had 2 teeth pulled, #31 and #32. Today my tongue on the right side still hurts. It feels partially numb and tingly. What could this be?
I recently started using crest mouth wash 3-4 days ago and my tongue got sore. Now on the right side of the mouth closer to the back molars, there is a slightly white "sore" on my tongue. When I touch it it seems to have a little hard spot but I cant really tell. Is this probably a canker sore or do I really need to have it checked out?
I too discovered a sore on the side of my tongue on Monday. ( today is Wednesday ) it is large and really red irritated and it looks black and blue around the edge. There is also one spot that is black and blue on the end of my tongue. I do have a bad tooth or so on that side that need attention and I had the flu over the past weekend and was vomiting quite forcefully. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I am really scared right now.
The last two days my husband tongue is realy sore. He has spots on the tongue. Is this caused by the rx? Does anyone know how to make it better? Of course this is a holiday so I can not call the dr office and it is not an emergency. If anyone can help, please let me know.
Now that has subsided I have come down with a sore throat on the right side only. No dripping so they say. The pain is mild and went away for a couple of days but now it is back. I notice this morning it is rally not my throat but a smooth lump far back on my tongue that is tender. I also noticed my teeth ache once and a while. Any thought?
Hi, last night I began having a strange type of pain under my tongue on the right side at the base of the mouth - the pain feels similar to a sore throat, but my throat isn't sore. I don't have a fever or swollen lymph glands. Also the pain hasn't gotten worse. I can only feel the pain if I move the tongue up or if I swallow a large amount of food. My throat doesn't have any swelling or redness or whiteness, my voice is still the same, ears are fine and gums are fine.
- Swollen tongue, sometimes whole thing, sometimes feels like just the back/base part or just one side. - Sore tongue, mostly at the back/base and gets worse when swallowing. - Tongue pain--I don't mean soreness, it's a sharper pain, and it seems to always run down one side of the tongue or the other; ie the left side will hurt for a few hours, then it moves to the right side. Worse when I move my tongue around or swallow.
I started out with what looked like a canker sore on the side of my tongue, very painful. It went away and then one showed up on the back of the roof of my mouth on the same side. I had started to use Orajel on it to stop the pain. A day or two later I noticed more red spots showing up on the roof of my mouth, although they never turned white like a typical canker. Now the tip of my tongue is sore, no visible canker. Underside of my tongue and bottom of my mouth under my tongue are sore.
Hello, I am asking this question for my husband and I tried to get as many details as possible. He has had a sore tongue for a couple of weeks now...it is only sore on the left side and there are no bumps or anything that we can see; it looks the same as the right side. He said it also hurts when he swallows, also only on the left side, and it hurts his throat and his ear. The pain has not gotten better or worse over time, it has just stayed the same. Thank you in advance for your help!
I have been experiencing the same sore tongue problem on and off, I am on week 14 of interferon/riba. I find if I am able to bush my teeth right after eating it makes a difference, if I don't it flairs up. I just started using biotene toothpaste and so far my mouth seems happier. Rinsing with baking soda/water 3 to 4 times a day seems soothing and provides some relief, I read that it can help with thrush.
i looked at my tongue today just because i'm paranoid and there is a sore on each side of my tongue. They are not painful at all and look like a divot and are whitish on the sides. No sores/ itchyness or anything on my penis/balls that i can notice. I also have been feeling a little off, but i'm really stressed because of school and paranoia of thinking I have an STD, and when i don't think about it or relax the feeling goes away.
I'm a bit concerned by my swollen tonsil on my right side that I've had for more than three months now. I've also recently been treated for a sinus infection that lasted about 2 weeks (given two series of Azthromycin) which seemed to knock the sinus thing back, but over the past three days the tonsil has become a bit more prominant, and it's starting to hurt a bit when I swallow.
I thought that is was related to a food allergy but I am not so sure at this point, mine only happens on the left side of my tongue. One dr. did comment on the whiteness surrounding the red patches, so perhaps my red spots do start with the white dry color as well and have not noticed that as part of the process. One thing that strikes me is that I have been taking a drug that is designed for epilepsy but I take it for anxiety. Perhaps this may be a drug reaction?
I sometimes get a sore on my tongue that looks very simalar to the ones on his and mine or very painful for about two weeks. His have been there for about 4 or 5 days. I sometimes have to go to the dentist. What should I do for him?
I have not drank in over 3 years. A few weeks ago i started, got a buzz and then stoped. Few days later noticed "Acne" like pimples in the back of the throat, right at the end of the tongue. The tongue has this burning feeling just where the pimples are. two weeks later drank again in moderation. The "Acne" moved on the side and under neath the tongue. I don't know if my drinking is related. But this "Acne" hurts and i don't have a clue of what it is.
My glands even felt sore but just on the right side. The left side had no pain when I swallowed. This has happened many times before. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar?
This is so overwhemingly common - yet no doctor will put this puzzle together - at least in my luck. After digging for 5 years - I strongly believe this is a side effect of thyroid medications. I lean towards this bieng an imbalance on PH levels within the body with some individuals. HAve you had any discomfort within the tongue itself? Burning - swolleness of anything you can describe? Do you notice dry throat and thirst? Did you undergo RAI treatment after the TT?
Initially 3 weeks before, i had it on the left side of the tongue almost near the tip of the tongue. After two three days i had it on the right side exactly as the same spot of the first one, but on the right. After that i had a small sore on the inner part of the tongue, towards the throat almost at the center. It repeated two three times and again today in the evening I've one on the right side of the tongue, but on the different position than the last time.
i don't know. if you are concerned about herpes you should post this question and be most specific, but post the question in the herpes form.
They present as small white or yellow ulcer on a red base. Very painful. I have one on the side of my tongue right now, but I'm prone to canker sores. I can't see how mine could be herpes. I mean I'm interested in hearing what others describe as herpes in the mouth. Are they blisters?
two on the tip and one a little to the side. I was reading online that ulcerative colitis can cause sores to appear in your mouth and didn't know if this was a cause for the sores to appear. Now, I have one on the tip of my tongue that just appeared yesterday and today it has a white center. I'm kinda freaking out if it would just a regular ulcer caused by the colitis or if it is something worse like herpes.
Hello, I have a sore tongue, and I'm unable to swallow, as well as my right hear is tender. The right side of my tongue is the on that feels sore as well. If you could tell my what could cause this?
2) Late March or early April, this feeling spreads to over the entire right side of my abdomen, and eventually back of the right side also. By late April, this pain turned into burning sensations concentrated on the right upper abdomen. 3) April 27, I went to visit the doctor, and was given 30 days of Nexium, and sent to do a blood test, ultra sound, and upper GI. I took the Nexium once a day 30 minutes before my evening dinner, but nexium doesn't seem to help to relieve the problem.
I have two flesh/white bumps like tags on each side of my tongue. The one on the right has been there for 2 yrs. The dentist looks at it each time I go for a cleaning and says it doesn't look like anything to worry about. Now one showed up on the left about 2 weeks ago. Sometime I bite them when chewing and it makes them sore for a couple days. Any idea what they could be?
I've got one little patch on the left side of my tongue that is white like it's freezerburn dead or something. Not the bumps (which look like swollen taste buds) this skin is like just dead white. It hurts so much all the time. I hate to complain about it because it seems so LITTLE compared to things like anemia but ouch. I just called - no PCR report yet (didn't really expect it until Wednesday at some time but of course i'll call back tomorrow afternoon too.
Except for the side of my face, I have the burning on my tongue, fatgue, and headaches on tne left side of my head. it some- times feels like my tongue is swellon up and I almost can't swallow. The burning on my tongue actually wakes me up at night some times along with the headache. My gums are feeling kind of burnish feeling to. What's really strange is I had a tooth pulled about 4 months ago and right were that tooth was pulled I have the worst pain and burning. I really don't understand.
The only other thing I can think of, but of course have your Dr take a look @ them, is maybe @ night you are gnawing on the tongue w/o realizing it. I had a recurring sore on my tongue that my dentist actually noticed but in my case it was from moving my tongue against a sharp tooth at night and now is gone .. but mine was more canker sore than what you describe.
On top of that, I have had four consecutive huge and painful canker sores in the past month and a half, one of which I still have, and one of my lymph glands under my jaw is swollen (incidentally, the right side, and it is my right "flap" which is swollen). So it could possibly be a canker sore on the bottom of this flap, but it just seems like a weird location for one. And the chronic canker sore issue could also be a related problem... Should I see a doctor about this?
