Common Questions and Answers about Tongue lesions talking

tongue

Avatar n tn I am seeking an cause for a 65+ woman to all of a sudden have trouble swallowing, moving food around with her tongue and talking. She was in the hospital for 3 days having a battery of tests and no known cause for symptoms. I suggested an allergist and they prescribed a nasal spray to dry up her sinuses from dripping down her throat but it doesnt seem to be helping.
Avatar m tn Yea...I mean, it's only my tongue that's the problem...some days my tongue looks dry...and the lesions seem to be going down..and then few days down the road they come back. The only reason I think the herpes is related to the lesions in my mouth is because I didn't have this problem before I need to go and have another test. Thanks everyone.
Avatar f tn I woke up this morning feeling like there was a 9v battery stuck to the tip of my tongue. It is slowly spreading further back and I cant bump my tongue on my teeth which makes eating n talking pretty much impossible. I really hope this goes away soon. I am due for my tysabri on tues and if I have to call the dr tomorrow she will postpone my treatment and want to see me first. UGH!!!! Ok I'm done venting.
Avatar m tn It grew and spread to the other side of the tongue. It is always painless, unless picked at. The lesions present as flattened white wrinkly patches, that can be rubber off with a paper towel exposing a red base underneath, that sometimes bleeds. I am quite certain it is not thrush, as my mother is a pediatric nurse practitioner and assures me it couldn't be this. I have not been on any antibiotics for years and don't have a problem with being sick in general.
Avatar f tn People on here were talking about choking on food, etc. Some people mentioned that they also had terrible pain. I found something on the web while I was looking for other info, about glossopharyngeal neuralgia. It's a condition marked by repeated episodes of severe pain in the tongue, throat, ears and tonsils, which can last from a few seconds to a few minutes. It can be triggered by swallowing, chewing, laughing, speaking or coughing.
Avatar n tn because I have no visible lesions or anything. However; my lips and tongue are burning...and I know that if u do have symptoms, then the blood test will be accurate more likely. Is the tongue and lips burning/stinging/tingling enough of a symptom for the results to be accurate?
Avatar n tn For more than 20 years, been getting these warts or lesions that come and go in my mouth. Started after an oral encounter ~ 1995. No sexual intercourse, but kissing that likely transmitted something to me since soon after, developed a flesh colored lump with a white top on the underside of my tongue. This lump wasn't too large, but definitely noticeable. I kept rubbing it against my bottom teeth and it eventually broke open and bleed a bit, but eventually went away.

Avatar m tn http://www.studydroid.com/imageCards/0b/87/card-11803657-front.jpg I was treated with Nystatin but it did not cure me. A week later, my tongue looked better, but still not cured. The night sweats went away after the third week but I began to experience fatigue and my CBC results began to show irregularities (please see chart): http://www.medhelp.org/user_photos/show/265672 After six weeks, my tongue is still tingling and numb and ulcerated.
Avatar f tn My main concern and question is would geograohic tongue only appear on this one spot on the tongue? The lesions do change in size and shape and they are red in the center with the whitish yellow border. They do seem to grow every day, then disappear only to reappear the very next day on the same spot and location on his tongue. I am a little anxious that this could be something more worrisome like cancer. Is this normal behavior for gt to only pop up in one area of the tongue?
Avatar n tn I have had a MRI done because of dizzy feelings and lightheadedness....what came back, as the report said, was unknown white matter....is this the same as lesions? My doctor suggested it might be MS, but he also said he'd be shocked if it were... I'm just a tad confused about all of this...and my neuro appt isn't until April. Thank for your reading...
Avatar m tn Turns out to be geographic tongue, the recurring lesions are pink with yellowish to white borders and recur in different places on the the tongue. This is a harmless condition, but is very alarming to look at. Also there is no cure for this condition. I think I have been cursed.
Avatar m tn hello, I feel sometimes my tongue is getting bigger, and it pushes my teeth so my tongue getting shape inside of my teeth, it gives pain and in afew days some mouth lesions occurs, what can I use for this ?
Avatar f tn You didn't have any risk of hiv as your glans was covered, so you shouldn't have gone for an hiv test. Oral sex exposes you to syphilis, gonorrhea and herpes. But, in the case of syphilis, your tongue should have touched the typical lesions of this bacterium, called "chancrus" easy to see. Regarding gonorrhea, there is normally a white discharge in the vagina. Talking about herpes, the infection occurs if you touch the lesions.
338416 tn?1420045702 t reveal any spinal lesions, though my neurological exam says I have lesions on my spine (according to my neuro). He says they're just too small to see, and he doesn't care how infinitesimally small they are, they're still there. I wonder if they'll grow over time and become more visible? Great pics, Jen!
Avatar m tn Subsequently, I have had two severe outbreaks with sores all in my mouth, tongue, cheeks, and a few lesions in the genital area (first time for this ever). Severe enough that I could not eat for 3 days. Doctor suggested upping dose for valtrex from 1 g to 3 g for 7 days. I had blood panels done the only noticeable thing was a pretty low Vitamin D level (17) and high triglycerides (210). My question is: is this common?
Avatar m tn Your descriptions appear to be consistent with clinical presentation of geographic tongue or benjgn migratory glossitis.
Avatar m tn Still, chest pains due to aortic dilation, oral lesions including geographic tongue and papules, amyloid deposits, are all possible symptoms of reactive arthritis. I had severe myalgia but only for a couple of days during the first weeks of illness. Recently I've noticed some odd unexplained joint pain but it is very localized in the right hand. Let me know if you know of any tests that might help rule out Reiter's as a cause.
Avatar m tn I am 76 years of age. I have had various episodes of lesions on my tongue for about 15 years, many doctors have said it was either cold sores or canker and prescribed zovirax. I have been living with and having both oral and natural sex for 5 years with one sex partner, she never had a problem, we no longer live together. Prior to that time I lived with several women...no problem. Since February I have been living with my latest friend (which should be the last)..
Avatar m tn So if I'm only get small lesions less than 1/2inch and around 2-3 on my tongue....what does that sound like to you?
Avatar f tn Many people experience unintentional bouts of gleeking whenever they yawn deeply or consume hard candy. This is voluntarily practised. The tongue protects others from the effects. Like this you can practise to obtain control of the salivary flow, try to block it with the tongue and keep swallowing the excess frequently. Check with a dentist to see if he can offer any suggestions. Regards.
Avatar f tn Eight days ago I had protected sex with a very promiscuous woman (though oral was unprotected). Five days later I was sick with a fever, nausea, weakness/fatigue, and thrush. This only lasted about 1-2 days. I now feel completely fine. However, I know that herpes can cause these symptoms. I have no blisters though (and I have been cheking carefully). Except I think I have a few very small, round but painless red sores on my tongue.
Avatar f tn My numbness has gotten so bad I can barely eat (entire mouth numb including tongue) and I have trouble talking. I've had MRI brain, MRA and MRV brain and MRI c spine. No lesions present. Doctors have tested me for everything they can think of: primary care physician, neurologist and rheumatologist. What in the world is going on with me? I'm so frightened! Is it early signs of MS? My symptoms don't get better or stay the same.
