Avatar m tn THIS NUMBNESS WAS ALWAYS VARIABLE. IT WAS NEVER THE SAME. IT ALWAYS CHANGED. SOMETIMES IT WOULD BE NEXT TO NOTHING WHILE AN HOUR LATER I COULDN'T FEEL ANYTHING. At the moment, my right lip and left side of my tongue are seemingly permanently numb, while recently (probably two to three days ago), parts of my right leg have started to get numb randomly. If I stretch it during the night, by the morning the numbness is usually gone. The numbness comes when I'm lying down.
Avatar m tn Foods that sometimes cause irritation, burning or slight swelling of the tongue include tomato, eggplant, walnuts, sharp cheeses, spicy foods, sour foods, mint, candy and citrus. Geographic tongue may also cause numbness. Coexistence of fissures of the tongue is often noticed. Chemicals, such as mouth washes and teeth whiteners, can also aggravate the condition. Lesions may occasionally occur on sites other than the tongue.
Avatar n tn I have started traction, but after the first session it seemed to make my clumsy hands worse. More recently I have now been having left sided numbness in my lip and tongue..not complete numbness, but a burning, numbing feeling. My question is...first is traction usually effective for disc rupture, when it involves the cord. Second...can my numbness in the lip and tongue be caused by the cervical disc rupture?
Avatar f tn However, I was never given any advice or explaination about the lesions. Recently, I have begun having problems with my eyes, numbness in my tongue and right hand and difficulty speaking when the numbness occurs. Also I am becoming more forgetful and these things are causing me concern. My overall question is if the lesions could be causing me any problems? And should I have them checked further? I do not have a lot of money, which is why I have not had them checked as of yet.
Avatar f tn This would fall in with the 5th cranial nerve stuff with my tongue numbness, trigiminal neuralgia, facial symptoms. I guess it could all just be a migraine too, as I have reached that wonderful age of maybe heading toward menopause. Who knows. My neuro also said that when I get a migraine that it would make all my other symptoms worse, just like having an infection/being hot etc.., but what I find hard now is am I having another attack/flare or is this just migraine..
Avatar f tn Lesions in the neck lead to numbness and spasms in the neck area. I have no lesions in my neck, but several in my brain, and have a lot of facial numbness as well as optic neuritis. My numbness extends down my neck on the right side, and all the way down my back - tapering off at the lumbar. It's possible I have lesions in the spine, but it hasn't been verified.
Avatar f tn phenomena is more commonly a result of distal neuromuscular activity than CNS. Is the numbness of 1/2 of you tongue just the front or back of the tongue? It really sounds like your neurologist as done his due diligence.
Avatar f tn I am not convinced about the sinusitis and the tongue numbness association. And it is not only numbness that is the issue. You also have an altered taste. It seems to be a manifestation of the MS. The numbness will stay for some time and will go on its own. You have been through a lot. And I am sure you will pass this test also.
Avatar f tn I woke up one day with my thumb, index finger and middle finger on my right hand numb and tingling. 2 weeks later my bottom lip and tip of my tongue went numb. 2 weeks after that my thumb, index finger and middle finger on my left hand went numb. Then 3 weeks after that both lips, my chin and area around my mouth and part of my cheeks went numb. This is all in a 3 month timeframe. My numbness has gotten so bad I can barely eat (entire mouth numb including tongue) and I have trouble talking.
Avatar n tn Does having white lesions on your spine and brain only mean you have ms?? can it be anything else?? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/293806'>Anxiety or MS ?</a>.
Avatar f tn My story begins approximately 9-10 years ago when I was 28. It started with a strange feeling on my tongue. It was numb, like I had burned it. I knew I hadn't, and then I realized that the right side of my face was also feeling numb. Soon after, my right side and leg were also numb. I never lost motor function, but the numbness persisted for weeks. My GP was immediately suspicious of MS due to my age and gender and she sent me to a neuro for workup.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Lemme get this straight - your neuro is perplexed because you have numbness on your tongue, but you have no spinal lesions? I'm really trying to suppress a laugh, here! As murky as the connection is between symptoms and lesions goes, I'm pretty sure tongue numbness has nothing to do with spinal lesions, and would point more to brainstem (think Trigeminal nerve) lesions. I was diagnosed without visible spinal lesions, though my neurological exam points to spinal lesions.
Avatar f tn Was told that the radiologist at my hospital looked at my head MRI (with contrast) and it was clear- neuro still has to see it though. Is the radiologist there to look for MS lesions or just more obvious stuff like tumors? In other words, can I trust that my MRI is clear even if the radiologist was the only one who has looked at it so far?
Avatar f tn m wondering if he sent you for an MRI to see if there are obvious brain stem lesions. Most of the time, I recommend that folks not try and match symptoms to lesions, but Cranial Nerves 3-12 make for a special case (isn't there always one?) With hearing issues, the neuro cauld also consider a BAER and see if there is any demonstrable latency with CN8. Just some thoughts.
Avatar m tn Yea...I mean, it's only my tongue that's the problem...some days my tongue looks dry...and the lesions seem to be going down..and then few days down the road they come back. The only reason I think the herpes is related to the lesions in my mouth is because I didn't have this problem before I need to go and have another test. Thanks everyone.
Avatar f tn I do sometimes experience some burning on the right hand side of my face and tongue numbness. On occasions the tongue numbness is really bad but usually not long lasting but of late often my tongue on the underneath but just feels numb or like pressure or tight sensation. Avatar n tn This is accompanied by simultaneous ipsilateral (same side) numbness of the tongue. This numbness is caused by compression of the second cervical root (C2) in the atlantoaxial space. Hope this helps. Do discuss this with your doctor (both dentist and orthopedic specialist) and get yourself examined. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn t know if this has anything to do with my thyroid, but last night i had this pulling feeling under my tongue and then numbness for my tongue and part of the right side of my face. This morning i had a stabbing sharp pain on the right side of my chest just below my clavical, lasted about 3 secs then went away. I have had a stress echo because i went to my regular pc before with papatations and the same kind of pain at times that is when he felt of my thyroid and sent me for a ultrasound.
Avatar f tn properly, I have numbness and tingling in my half of my chin, cannot feel teeth 1-4, I had numbness in my tongue as well but just for few days. At least I had to sign paper that if they remove it I will not go to court to them, they said that nerve was damaged and it could heal or it could be permanent. I think it is called paresthesia. Anyway having head aches since that 6 weeks, on paracetamol all the time and it seems I have to have another 2 wisdom done because getting gums infections.

Avatar f tn My daughter had was was diagnosed as a migraine 5 days ago that was followed by some tongue numbness on the sides of her tongue. The head pain is gone now but the tongue numbness is still present 3 days later. Dr initially thought it was an alergic reaction to the migraine meds. They are out of the system now and her tongue is still numb. She has had 2 ct scans read by neurologists and they say migraine. Not sue what the cause of the tongue numbness is????
Avatar f tn 1 week after had trouble with memory and consintration. hypertention, numbness to left side of face and tingling/cold tongue, numb lips, trouble with words to even slurring at times. Others just could not think of the words. Facial numbness and lips/tongue lasted for about 2 months. Had cervical fusion to fix the herniated disc. a year later. Still have the hypertension 3 years later and still unable to remember things or stay focused. periods of speech problems still present but come and go.
Avatar f tn I was hospitalized this year because I suddenly lost the ability to talk, swallow, or move my tongue. Of course the first thought was a stroke or TIA but that was ruled out. I have a lot of MS symptoms, numbness, pain, unbalanced, stiffness, and the one I am dealing with right now is vertigo and almost like a tunnel vision dizziness with pressure on top of my head. So I had an MRI last week and I am wondering if any one can enlighten me to what it means.
