Common Questions and Answers about Tongue lesions medication

tongue

Avatar m tn Yea...I mean, it's only my tongue that's the problem...some days my tongue looks dry...and the lesions seem to be going down..and then few days down the road they come back. The only reason I think the herpes is related to the lesions in my mouth is because I didn't have this problem before I need to go and have another test. Thanks everyone.

Avatar n tn I never get coldsores, yet, my tongue is always a mess...yellow like lesions are all over the places..(the strands surround my tastebuds) (See photo below)...they're not painful, but are not appealing to look at, clearly....but yea, they never go away, so how can this be just HSV-1 My question is.... What should I be doing.....
Avatar f tn I have written on here before that I have chronic (meaning I’ve had it CONSTANTLY for 10 years) lesions on the inside of my mouth, not on the tongue just in the mucus membranes. They look a lot like thrush but don’t respond to the medication. I also am so dry in my mouth that I’m currently checked for Sjögren’s syndrome. However. Now I’m on antibiotics for strep throat.
Avatar m tn Two weeks ago from today I noticed I had lesions/bumps of a red color on the back of my tongue and on the back of my throat. Three days ago I went to a FastMed center, and the nurse practitioner diagnosed me with HSV-1. She gave me some medication and sent me off. I had a sore throat in the beginning, but that's it. I do not know if this is my primary infection or if it is a recurring infection. How long will I be contagious for/ should I abstain from kissing and sex?
Avatar m tn Today I noticed that underneath my tongue, at the bottom of the thing that attaches your tongue to the bottom of your mouth, is a little sore, and it may have a bump on it. I'm not sure what it is, is it just a sore, or could it be an std? My girlfriend says she doesnt have anything like that, and I believe her. But i'm to afraid to tell my mom( atleast until I know for sure that it's an std) because she would be soo upset knowing that I even made out with a girl.
Avatar f tn And ever since it’s been on the inside of my mouth. I have nothing on my tongue just these weird lesions that grow on the inside of my cheeks and both lips. They bloom randomly so sometimes I have more and sometimes less and that’s like a one week period so I don’t go longer periods with less, just a few days. I do believe I have some acid reflux. My mouth is almost always sour tasting. I’m not sick much otherwise so my immune system seems fine.
Avatar m tn It grew and spread to the other side of the tongue. It is always painless, unless picked at. The lesions present as flattened white wrinkly patches, that can be rubber off with a paper towel exposing a red base underneath, that sometimes bleeds. I am quite certain it is not thrush, as my mother is a pediatric nurse practitioner and assures me it couldn't be this. I have not been on any antibiotics for years and don't have a problem with being sick in general.
Avatar m tn Is the tongue just white all over or in patches? Patches I believe typically indicate some sort of yeast infection (I believe it's called thrush - appears as whitish, velvety lesions in the mouth and on the tongue. Underneath the whitish material, there is red tissue that may bleed easily. The lesions can slowly increase in number and size.) that will require further treatment. If you had Thrush, your doctor probably would have caught it I imagine.
Avatar m tn my boyfriend takes a lot of medication for AAHDD, and Bipolar; he develops cotton mouth in his saliva, is there the remains of the medication and when I kiss him would some of the medication he takes be transferred to me?
Avatar n tn because I have no visible lesions or anything. However; my lips and tongue are burning...and I know that if u do have symptoms, then the blood test will be accurate more likely. Is the tongue and lips burning/stinging/tingling enough of a symptom for the results to be accurate?
Avatar n tn For more than 20 years, been getting these warts or lesions that come and go in my mouth. Started after an oral encounter ~ 1995. No sexual intercourse, but kissing that likely transmitted something to me since soon after, developed a flesh colored lump with a white top on the underside of my tongue. This lump wasn't too large, but definitely noticeable. I kept rubbing it against my bottom teeth and it eventually broke open and bleed a bit, but eventually went away.
Avatar m tn http://www.studydroid.com/imageCards/0b/87/card-11803657-front.jpg I was treated with Nystatin but it did not cure me. A week later, my tongue looked better, but still not cured. The night sweats went away after the third week but I began to experience fatigue and my CBC results began to show irregularities (please see chart): http://www.medhelp.org/user_photos/show/265672 After six weeks, my tongue is still tingling and numb and ulcerated.
Avatar n tn what might be the cause of waking up suddenly from sleep during night because of a choking sensation due to severe swelling of tongue (so much swelling that I was unable to fit in my dentures) .This was associated with extremely garbled speech. I didn't call 911 because i couldn't speak. I checked in mirror and my smile was not distorted. I am a 63 yr. old female who is on medication for hypertension and have a strong family history for stroke and heart disease.
Avatar m tn ) If u are experiencing whitish, velvety lesions in the mouth and on the tongue and if underneath the whitish material, there is red tissue that bleeds easily, then u are suffering from thrush. To my knowledge it is not considered an std. It's caused by forms of a fungus called Candida. A small amount of this fungus lives in your mouth most of the time. It is usually kept in check by your immune system.
Avatar m tn Over the next few days i knew this was not so, so went to another vet who after checking her over agreed with me and said this is either a lung infection or a tumour in the lung. different medication was given and if she was no different we would do x-rays. That night i gave her the first of the medication where 3 hours later she had a horrible breathing attack.
Avatar f tn My main concern and question is would geograohic tongue only appear on this one spot on the tongue? The lesions do change in size and shape and they are red in the center with the whitish yellow border. They do seem to grow every day, then disappear only to reappear the very next day on the same spot and location on his tongue. I am a little anxious that this could be something more worrisome like cancer. Is this normal behavior for gt to only pop up in one area of the tongue?
Avatar f tn 3 weeks after having oral sex (unprotected) and vaginal intercourse (protected) I have developed oral lesions on the interior surfaces of my mouth and tongue. Errythematous oral mucosa, small, raised bumps, few minor ulcerated sores. All are interior..........I found out, only afterwards that this person tested positive for HSV1 and 2. What are the chances this is HSV2 orally???? And, if it is, what does this mean for me and any future partners??
Avatar m tn Turns out to be geographic tongue, the recurring lesions are pink with yellowish to white borders and recur in different places on the the tongue. This is a harmless condition, but is very alarming to look at. Also there is no cure for this condition. I think I have been cursed.
913187 tn?1243015081 While on it, I was clearer headed than I had been in years but I mispelled words like wanting to write danger and I would write mess or I would say pinapple instead of move the car...so watch for that. My tongue was sharp, which it used to be before meds and I became manic once. After going off of it cold turkey and starting a new one I vomited for a week and had a headache. Hopes this helps.
Avatar m tn hello, I feel sometimes my tongue is getting bigger, and it pushes my teeth so my tongue getting shape inside of my teeth, it gives pain and in afew days some mouth lesions occurs, what can I use for this ?
338416 tn?1420045702 t reveal any spinal lesions, though my neurological exam says I have lesions on my spine (according to my neuro). He says they're just too small to see, and he doesn't care how infinitesimally small they are, they're still there. I wonder if they'll grow over time and become more visible? Great pics, Jen!
Avatar m tn Subsequently, I have had two severe outbreaks with sores all in my mouth, tongue, cheeks, and a few lesions in the genital area (first time for this ever). Severe enough that I could not eat for 3 days. Doctor suggested upping dose for valtrex from 1 g to 3 g for 7 days. I had blood panels done the only noticeable thing was a pretty low Vitamin D level (17) and high triglycerides (210). My question is: is this common?
Avatar m tn Your descriptions appear to be consistent with clinical presentation of geographic tongue or benjgn migratory glossitis.
