Common Questions and Answers about Tongue jewelry titanium

tongue

Avatar f tn Normally a rash is caused by a titanium piece-usually jewelry touching the skin. An implant usually does not cause a localized allergic reaction. IT can either cause a generalized rash, or a burning sensation, listlessness, pain at the site or even a feeling of extreme fatigue, low grade fever etc. Again titanium implant allergy is rare. However, do consult your doctor for clarification. In all probability it is some other allergy or dermatitis, or eczema.
Avatar f tn are wedding rings supposed to match/correspond with one another? my mother is buying our rings and my fiancé wants a black, titanium band but I don't want anything like that.

Avatar f tn I asked my dentist about allergies to titanium and he said no one is allergic to titanium. I read an article that said an allergic reaction to titanium can cause an autoimmune disease. I see my dentist tomorrow morning and plan on asking him to remove the implant. Hopefully this will help so I can finally feel like myself again.
Avatar f tn Hello, maybe you can help me. I had acdf w/titanium implant on August 25, 2011 and have developed some strange symptoms.
Avatar f tn Studies are being done to study the long term effects of titanium implants, in the bones. The presence of titanium particles in the blood may be harmful, especially following frictional wear of medical prostheses or of screws such as those used in plate fixation during surgical procedures. This can cause kidney damage. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Everything started after I got my dental implant, two days later I got a swollen tongue, swollen area under chin and my whole neck area was feeling very tight, hot and felt like it was burning. My ears also started poping all the time. The dentist just thought it was an allergy to the antibiotics I was taking, so I stopped taking them but then four days later I woke up in the middle of the night with a burning sensation on my skin. That was it for me.
Avatar m tn I had a CT with IV contrast scan over 5 weeks ago and am still having a rash, occasional chest pain and itching, mild lip/tongue swelling despite 25 mg Prednisone. I had anaphylaxis immediately after the CT and 6 hours later with tongue/lip swelling, hives etc. I am trying to taper the steroid. Has anyone else experienced a reaction like this? I am seeing the necessary physicians, but none of them have encountered a reaction like this.
Avatar f tn re probably allergic to the jewelry they pierced you with, so ask for surgical steel or titanium rather than anything with nickel or gold (the most common allergens). It might also have been as simple as the piercer putting your earring backs on too tight and not allowing for swelling (which is natural and necessary). Since this is your third time piercing your ears, you'll have a tougher time healing.
Avatar f tn Right after the implant was placed I experienced burning especially on the tip of my tongue and a battery like taste in my mouth. I first thought it was the material of the provisional dental prosthesis and hoped for a relief after the fixture of the dentures. However the battery like taste as well as the burning has not stopped since. Could it be that I have an allergy against the used material titanium? Is there anybody else with this symptoms??
Avatar f tn Well four years ago when I removed my tongue jewelry for various reasons I started up again immediately, without even realizing it. Up until now its been an occasional thing but the past few weeks ita been constant and very intense. It makes me look stupid and its causing sores on my tongue. Im very bothered and confused and I wish I knew why and how to stop it.
Avatar n tn You may or may not be able to tolerate another piercing later? You may have developed an allergy to the metal used in the piercing jewelry , which is not the best quality of metal to start with. You may need some antibiotics as well. I would recommend pulling it and using the sea salt swishes or medicated mouth wash until healed, if condition worsens see you doctor because the infection can get in your blood stream causing sepsis and if left untreated can lead to death.
Avatar n tn Hi I am just wondering if anyone has had a confirmed allergy to titanium spinal implants. I had mine removed a year ago and the hospital said the biopsies showed features of a titanium allergy but I am still having problems. I wondered whether my body will ever feel the same again? I was very poorly and suffered itching, pain and swelling all over my body prior to removal. Since, and to date, I have suffered from lots of allergies. Any info appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am 33 weeks measuring 34 weeks I have had my tongue pierced for over three years everybody keep telling me to take it out but no matter how long I had it if I take it out more then two hours my hole closes up so I'm scared to take it out does anybody else have one way did they do?
740917 tn?1268247536 I also have 13-24 surgical clips on my liver bed from that surgery,I am not sure if that is why my bile ducts keep scarring down,I also have alot of allergies and wonder if I am allergic to titanium, since I cannot wear any jewelry sometimes it does not bother me to much if I wear 14K. gold. Thanks So Much!
Avatar n tn If I wear earrings my ears itch depending on the quality of jewelry I wear. Yet I have multiple piercings and for some reason my nose, and lip are not affected, however my belly button is affected. Even gold will bother me. A doctor told me to try Titanium and it seems to be the only affordable metal I can wear. Nickel is what makes metals hard so really theres no escaping this allergy, just simply go with a metal that has less nickel in it.
Avatar n tn Titanium is chemically very inert. In fact, titanium is most probably the best tolerated metal inside the body. The titanium marker left after breast biopsy is very tiny, about the size of a sesame seed. Generally, the benefit of using these clips far outweighs possible negative effects.
Avatar f tn This may be tmi, sorry but, i have my nipples and tongue pierced. Among others, but those are the ones im wprried about. Did/do any of you ladies have either done? And did you have to take them out, if so around how many weeks did you remove them?
Avatar f tn I had a lot of swelling with my first two so I had to take mine off as well and wear them around my neck on a chain...
