If using your dental device helps, this means that you have to address your tongue in addition to palate/tonsil surgery if you want good results. It's been shown that the UPPP procedure (palate and tonsil removal) works to cure sleep apnea in only 40% of the time. Most of these failures were because of untreated tongue issues. If you have any degree of nasal congestion, that should be addressed as well. As for the the pain involved with palate surgery, it is painful.
Also my tonsils are swollen. I don't know what it is its scaring me because it hurts when i swallow. I also have smaller sores/blisters underneath my tongue.
I have these little white specs on my left tonsil also. =[ It hurts when i swallow. I cant even finish eating my meals. It's horrible. Im also burning hot and sweating one moment; then im freezing cold the next. This just happened over the weekend. I woke up saturday morning fine. I went to my football tryout, and after i was in pain. I felt so bad, that i stayed in bed all day on sunday. Litterally!! Along with these white spots, came a headache. it hasnt gone away.
The couging has subsided, but there's still phelm in my throat. Yesterday I noticed that my tongue was coated in an yellowy/orange color!! I scraped it, and brushed it, but to no avail. Is this a common ailment? Anybody??? Thanks.
About 4 days ago I noticed that i got little cuts on the corners of my lips and that there was a little white thing on it that looked like a pimple but it isnt, and the tip of my tongue reallyyy hurts like crazyy. I have noticed that there are little white bumps on it .. and i usually never have that. And im not sure if this has something to do with that but my tonsils also hurt like a mother. Its so hard to eat and drink and swallow because they feel like theres a knife stabbing them.
Just about 2 months ago I began developing strange allergic reactions. They have occurred on my feet, hands, back of knee, upper thigh, lip and now tongue. I have gone to the doctor before and they said it was contact dermatitis. I have not figured out what I'm allergic to yet and am still waiting for a call back from the allergy department. Last night, I woke up at about 3am with a swollen tongue. It really freaked me out.
Swallowing is almost impossible because it hurts so bad. It feels like it is swollen. It hurts so bad under my tongue that I can't tell if my throat is even hurting now. The under-the-tongue pain is so bad it is kind of eclipsing the whole area. I've checked under my tongue and things look normal. No spots on my throat or tonsils, so I don't think I have strep. My lymph nodes feel swollen also. Other than the fever and stiff neck I had a few days ago, no other symptoms.
Went to my doc and said theres a lump by the left side of my tongue, he felt my neck said he couldn't feel it... I can feel it all the time. I also complained about pain on the left side of side (upper ab area) so he had a lung xray to check to see if there was any damage to my diaphram (don't know where my doc got that idea but i never spent 8 yr extra in medical school) It came back fine. Complain again about the pian and told me to drink more water...
I am left with not knowing what to do, or where to turn. I do not want to live each day where my tongue hurts so much. My questions are.... How does this happen to begin with? Is this common for tonsillar tissue to become attached to the tongue? Is this going to be an ongoing problem? With so many problems occuring in the tonsil area, is it best to get the tonsils removed? Could you please give me some insight into all of this. I am so frustrated, and stressed out.
I recently had a sore spot on my tongue. It disappeared about a month ago but my tongue has been numb ever since. Immediately after I developed a painful spot on the left side of my throat and a tender and painful scalp. Left ear also hurts sometimes. My doc looked in my throat but wasn't concerned but the pain is alot deeper than what she could see by just looking in my mouth. Plus I don't have tonsils. She put me on antibiotics but I have not had any results.
So, as the days progressed, the left side stopped hurting and the right side now hurts. Under my tongue on the right side, it's itchy and the gums on that side are itchy as well. I can't help but to scratch them with a pen or my finger. When I swallow now, it hurts terribly and when I touch the part on my neck, under the jawline, it causes my throat to hurt, as well. My ear is starting to hurt from the pain, as well and I get occasional headaches from the pain.
I am currrently suffering with a sore tongue for about 2-3 months. It feels sometimes like after you've had a hot drink, a bit numb, and taste is affected. I am getting red tiny dots at the front right which are a bit sore. Also a couple of darker dots next to this spot. I have pain under my right jaw where the glands are and if I press there it feels like it's connected with the tongue.

After a day and a night, the temperature went away and I got a congested nose etc. After about a week, the congestion let up, however my tongue when yellow and brown. It wasnt patches but a coat as if that was the natural color of my tongue. On top of that, my nose would go through these cycles of one nostril being clear and one being blocked and then vice versa every like 10 hours. I was feeling okay but pretty much left it alone.
I feel sluggish during the day. Sometimes it hurts to swallow. My tonsils look gross. I don't know what's going on. Do I have cancer?
Today I noticed 3 fairly large bumps on the back of my tongue that dont hurt. they are on both sides by my tonsils. Just wondering what this could be!
but about three days later a got a really sore throat and later swollen tonsils,i went to the doctors and she looked down my throat and said i had strep.but she didint do any tests.she gave me 7 days,3 times a day of amoxicillin.i took all of it and its nearly a week after and my throat is still the same.i dont have a fever or anything anymore.
I am a 19 year old female. The past couple of days, it hurts to swallow and on both sides of my neck, the glands are achy. I have no clue why my body is doing this but, i really hate it. And i kind of think it has something to do with me getting my tongue pierced. One day after i got this done, is when i started to feel this way. I would very much appreciate it if you can reply to me. Thank you.
If you develop a fever, or if there is enlargement of the tonsils with pain or if there is white coating on the tonsils, you will need to consult your primary care physician for a strep test, which if positive you will be given antibiotics. Regards.
Ultimately causing a constricted upper arch, high palatal vault (roof of the mouth), low external muscle force, open lip posture, a mouth breathing habit, and a tongue trust. Because of continued displacement of the tongue, lips, and cheeks, form and function are affected as a result of intra-oral and extra-oral muscle imbalance. The lips become weak and the tongue looses its normal force, hence, the teeth develop a malocclusion as they grow in and mature.
i looked into the mirror kinda poor lighting but i noticed a big while patch all over the back of my tongue tonsils and i think its called uvila (hanging thing). when i brush my teeth and scrub over the white patch i notice it seems to be breaking some of it off but staying white. This is right after i went to the doctor from signs and symptoms of strep. they put me on amoxicillin and cpm/pse even though i got a negative on the strep test.
recently it really hurts for me to swallow and it looks like my tonsils are swollen. Also I feel like the thing under my tongue is also swollen and from the outside it feels like I'm starting to grow "a double chin" from the swelling up. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and know what is wrong and give any tips of what I could do to handle it.
I can't see what color it is, but it's covered with skin. It's quite minor, but when my tongue touches it, then it hurts in a minor way. I first noticed the sensitivity a few days ago. How long should I wait to see the dentist? Thank you. From wasp27., white female, 53, NJ.
your throat hurts, you have a fever, your neck glands hurt (lymphoid glands that drain your tonsils), and you don’t sleep well. Anything from simple cold viruses to bacteria, and even allergies can cause your tonsils to swell. Streptococcal bacteria are very common, but there’s one particular strain called Group A beta-Hemolytic Streptococcus (GABHS) that tested for and treated, since toxins produced by this strain can potentially damage the heart or the kidneys.
So far since the 1st of december i have had a total of 11 mouth ulcers, two of which i still have right on the end of my tongue (which i have found is the most sorest place!) I started on antibiotics today for my throat, when i was at the doc's 2 weeks ago it was red raw now of course it's a full blown infection at my tonsils, but i think the dosage is way to high so i might phone tomorrow and double check!
This is my 6 post I wrote I dont think I explained enough, I cut my foot on glass and it bled for about 5 mins, 2-4 hours later I think I walked in blood that was in my house from a self cutter - a few weeks later I get white spots on tonsils and red spots on roof of my mouth and went away in 2 days - but had a sore throat for about a month and is now gone - but I think I have swollen salivary glands - and buring in my feet - and pain below my hipbone -my whole neck hurts (How big is my
not very often • Painful to swallow • Can still eat, talk, sing, etc. with very minimal pain • Sort of swollen uvula • Sort of swollen tonsils • White thingies sort of in my tonsils...probably tonsil stones. I hope so. • Back wall of throat is pretty pink • Sneezing, only on occasion; it's July, maybe a summer cold? • White "furry" tongue • Clearing of throat I'm 21 years old and ♂ male. Maybe it was a few days ago, but I coughed up a very vile-smelling off-white glob of...stuff...
These are appliances that dentists make these by making a mold of your teeth where the bottom part of this device slides out gradually thereby pulling on the lower jaw and your tongue. Tongue collapse is the cause of many cases of people with sleep apnea. These devices do work for most people and they have been shown to be effective in people with mild to moderate sleep apnea. However, you need to choose these patients carefully because not everyone who has sleep apnea has tongue collapse.
Not necessarily oozing. Your tonsils are located posterior to your tongue, on either side of the throat. They generally look a little irregular, a little lumpy; about the size of a walnut.
