Avatar n tn It was a large mass on the back of her tongue that turned colors. from white to black. It was non cancerous, benign and now at the age of 14 it is back. It has been back for awhile. It is large white tumor like on the back of her tongue. The doctors want to remove it again. I cannot find anything on this that is not sexually related. It looks similar to a large wart. The doctors are always perplexed. Have you ever seen anything like this before.

Avatar f tn One month later I have a bigger growth in the line under my tongue and inbetween the V-Portion of my tongue and then some growths on the actual V-Lines under my tongue. Also, the bumps are painless.
Avatar n tn It sounds like a mandibular torus. Put in terms that you can understand it is a benign out growth of the bone of the lower jaw. We see these on the inside of the lower jaw and often they are located in the midline of the palate. No treatment is necessary unless a prosthesis needs to be made. To be sure see an oral surgeon for a confirmation of the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn I have a growth on my tongue that doesn't hurt. It is located about 1 inch from the tip on the left side. Looks kind of like a taste bud...is flat, same color as the tongue, and does not hurt. Round, about 1/16" in diameter. I also have another one further back that is smaller that is kind of like a flap that is not painless. How do I know if these could be cancerous or not? Should I have them looked at or are they normal.

Avatar m tn I have a white / yellowish growth on my tongue that when cleaned using a tongue scraper comes off in a pasty substance. I previously had a yeast infection caused by antibiotics. It lasted several years and affected my tongue and gut health causing growth on my tongue and diarrhea if I ate any breads or sugar. After going through a long course of anti fungal treatment my gut health appears to have fully rebounded but my tongue still has this growth occurring.
Avatar f tn My 17 year old son has a round growth on the right side of his head that is a little bigger than a quarter and soft to the touch. My dermatologist does not know what it is and is referring me to an expert. She seems to think it has been there for a while, maybe since birth, because hair no longer grows there, but because of the size, I think either my son, his hair dresser or I would have noticed. Maybe it started out small and has grown and now is filling with fluid.

Avatar m tn Hello, It can be a mucocele, a blockage of the salivary gland of the mouth or a small benign growth. It is a rubbery, bubblelike painles swelling. It is usually inside the lower lip, under the tongue or the inside of mouth and caused mainly by biting the lips or trauma during eating of food. Usually it goes away on its own.But if it does not, then corticosteroid injections and surgical removal by scalpel or laser are done by a dermatologist.

Avatar m tn Hello, This lump can be a small cyst, hematoma, mucocele (if present on the inside of lower lip) or a benign growth of the lips. Since the lump is painless and not changing in size, all these possibilities need to be evaluated. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Tumors can be benign or malignant, fortunately most of them are benign, such as sebaceous adenomas, which are one of the most common benign skin tumors in older dogs. In older dogs we often will just monitor small benign growths, to avoid the stress of surgical removal, or remove them when convenient during other procedures such as dental cleanings. However I always check any new new masses with a needle to obtain cells for analysis, to make sure the mass is benign.
Avatar m tn like geographic tongue. My question really is, can you use a tongue brush to remove geographic tongue? I can do this and want to confirm that this is a characteristic of this condition.
Avatar m tn I have been waiting 19 days for tongue biopsy result and the lab says they are working on it and haven't forgotten me. There was a noticeable bump on the top of the tongue at the time of the bio, and I detected it after my plastic tongue brush kept making a painful feeling on that spot. This pain went on for a month before I bothered to inspect the tongue, since I assumed I was carelessly jabbing the tongue with the sharp edge.

Avatar m tn Hello, This skin growth can be due to a sebaceous cyst, clogged gland, seborrheic keratosis or benign growth. A sebaceous cyst is a closed sac occurring just under the skin which contains a "pasty" or "cheesy" looking substance called keratin. Blocked sebaceous glands, swollen hair follicles and excessive testosterone production will cause such cysts.
