tongue

Hello, The symptoms and the picture looks like geographical tongue which is characterised by irregularly shaped red, map-like smooth swollen patches on the tongue. Discomfort may be treated with a mouth gargle or rinse containing antiseptic and anaesthetic agents. Topical corticosteroids may also be helpful for occasional use eg. triamcinolone in dental paste applied several times a day when required.
It does indeed look like geographic tongue (benign migratory glossitis). The description you provided fits perfectly into hallmark signs of geographic tongue. The direct cause of it is not well understood. Such condition usually runs in a family and passed from generation to generation. The treatment is currently unavailable and during flare up it is advised for patients to stay away from hot/spicy foods. I believe research did show that some foods may exacerbate the condition.
i would just like if you could give me insight on the geo tongue and the efficacy of the tests at the op time frames.
, I hope and pray so hard that these sores don't come back because it hurts and I look like a monster. Also, if a person is a Herpes Simplex carrier, it can manifest itself while on tx. Even if you don't have outbreaks. This tx greatly comprimises our immune system.

This morning i woke up to go to school like every day and wen i went to brush my teeth i noticed my tongue had turned black. I normaly have like a bad breath white stuff on it that i brush off my tongue, but this time it was black. Now about three days ago I noticed my tongue is dry and bright orange, like a pumpkin, I think my tongue is detoxing things, it started when I started taking wellness formula and oregano oil. I have stopped the oregano oil since it must be killing off the natural flora. I don't know what to do.
It's in the middle-back right of her tongue....not at the tip. I'll have to look up swollen taste buds now...hopefully i can see a pic...
I did start noticing a large mass below my tongue on the right side, when I stick my tongue out it sort of lifts over my teeth and it's easy to see. Maybe related? I had a cancer screening about 6 months ago and it was fine, no cancer. It was more of a general screening though, also, would cancer suddenly appear in a 6 month period like this? I was always under the impression that it's a slow thing that happens over time.
does not sound anyhting all like cancer. sounds like an irritation fibroma--- look it up on the internet and stop worrying. cancer lesions in the mouth tends to be faster growing (weeks or months) and are not predisposed to developing where there was trauma from things like cheek biting. go to the dentist and let him or her look at it.
Cancer Sometimes the white bump under tongue or any other bump on tongue (for that matter) can sometimes be an indication of a very serious ailment like tongue cancer. Solution Visiting a doctor and getting a thorough check up done becomes imperative if you suspect cancer. It's not just the fear of cancer due to the white bump under tongue that should have you visit a doctor immediately.
Probably because i scarf food down faster than any one i know. Any way. I looked at it in the mirror and it doesnt look like a normal cancer sore. Its not white, and not raised. It looks like a rubbed the skin raw on my tongue, its red. Its small but its a little painful if it hits my teeth or roof of mouth. Its pretty small too, like 1/4 the size of a dime. And its right smack dab in the middle of my tongue slightly to the right of center.
Do you have any suggestions, I have read about thrush, but this doesn't look guite like the pics I am seeing.
The doctor gave me some fungilin lozenges for oral thrush on the back of my tongue but the course is nearly finished and my tongue doesn't look any healthier. Surely all these symptoms are connected? Any advice would be much appreciated - I do drink a lot of water during the day to keep the throat from drying out and I tried taking ibuprofen to make any swelling in the throat go down but it hasn't worked.
Hi I have had a white tongue for 3 years....sometimes i forget about it other times it worries me....i developed this thick white patch on my tongue ten days after a sexual encounter for which i believe i acquired hpv....i have had numerous hiv tests up to 3 yrs which are negative....do you have any advice....as it some times is uncomfortable and I have to numb it out by eating spicy food?..I visited several GP's who to date have no answers....

I have just noticed that on my tongue I have some raised little areas of flesh, like little bumps about 1mm in diametre flesh colored I have been suffering with a cold for about a week, I just wondered what these little enlarged like taste bud bumps are, and if I should have them look at, they are painless, but I am just curious to know why they've raised a little bit, perphaps they've always been like that and haven't noticed, any advise or information you could give me about this would be muc
(of course, by this time, I've convinced myself I have oral cancer...browsing on the internet is not a good idea...) --sore throat for a week or so, just irritated, etc. I don't have tonsils, and I frequently get sore throats, so I didn't rush to the doc. Its usually viral. --fever for a couple of days, then I went to the doc. I also got a strange case of pink eye on the same day that I noticed the fever.
Blargh! Like Kelly, I can't imagine getting shots in your tongue - or getting a chunk cut out of it! Glad you're back.

Its idiots like that that make people like us psychotic about hiv. I would like to kick the s**t out of people who go about spouting ignorance like that and pretending to know what they are talking about. Imagine living with this fear for 2 years. I really think I would die.
Now, I cannot eat anything that is even mild. Ketchup even burns my tongue. My tongue does not look smooth. It looks like I have cuts all across my tongue all the time. I have had this for years and never went to the doctor. I just became use to it and stopped eating spicy foods. I have alway had problems with my teeth. Anyone else have dental problems (cavities).
Anyway, I went to the doctor this morning and she said swelling like this (tongue, lips) is called angiodema. She said if I continue to expose myself to this allergen (whatever it may be) the next stage could be anaphylaxis. I'm really scared. I have 2 little kids and I'm terrified of something happening. I can't avoid the allergen if I don't know what it is.:( Please help.
Genital warts are caused by low risk HPV and do not become cervical cancer. 2. Abnormal cells on the cervix are not usually cervical cancer and is more often caused by other things. It takes years to get cervical cancer and you don't normally develop it until your 30's or 40's. But, do continue the follow up to make sure things are ok. 3. Your sore throat and swollen lymph nodes are probably a virus like mono; may not be HPV anyway.
Also I have the ruff area in the back of my tongue and it comes and goes depending on the acid flow. They look like little bumps in the back of my tongue and it fills ruff when I swallow. What are the symptoms of throat cancer? What do I have to look for?
If your partner is a heavy tobacco user, that white spot could mean a pre-cancerous condition (something which is not yet cancer, but may lead to the development of cancer later on). The best way to determine the nature of that white spot is to do a biopsy. Samples can then be examined under the microscope to look for signs of malignancy, or cultured to look for infectious organisms. HIV can be tested by doing some special laboratory tests (e.g. ELISA).
