Avatar f tn I have many symptoms - dizziness, blurred vision, discomfort in my throat and neck, abdominal discomfort, increased urination and defecation, period changes, achy wrists and hands, swelling in my thumb joint and fingers, weakness, shortness of breath, fatique, and much of the time an overwhelming ill feeling. Many of the symptoms come and go and can vary in severity.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I have a somewhat crooked lower second premolar that is pointed in towards my tongue. Occasionally it irritates the side of my tongue. I also have a sharp lower first premolar that touches my tongue. I don't think my tongue bleeds, but it does get irritated every now and then. Does all of this put me at an increased risk for developing tongue cancer? I've read that having any crooked or sharp teeth can be risk factors for developing tongue cancer/oral cancer.
637356 tn?1301924822 Two stories that quickly come to mind are we were on a winter camp out and one of the boys dared another one to stick his tongue to a metal flag pole, yes it was really cold and yes he did it, but just the tip. He did want anyone to know that his tongue was stuck to the pole so he ripped it lose and left some skin attached to the pole. He learned that if you rip skin from your tongue it bleeds, a lot.
410281 tn?1254229064 since the eye doctor has said you have nerve pain of an unknown cause (idiopathic neuralgia) that in itself should be enough. Your neuro should be wanting to find the cause of that nerve pain. And an MRI would the logical next step. Or at least that is my thinking. But I'm no doctor!

Avatar n tn I, too, have had a slight fever, but severe pain from ulcers on my tongue and on the roof of my mouth. The pain is from the tip of my tongue to the root, palate, throat, and even to my right ear. An MD glanced at my mouth and said I have a few ulcers and offered only some numbing mouthwash. I want to know why this is happening, not put a bandaid on it. Have you gotten information on your similar problem?
Avatar n tn We just noticed an extra flap of skin attached to his tongue. It looks like a tiny mini tongue. When you look into his throat you do not see it. When he coughs it comes up and forward. It curls just like his tongue. It is attached to the base of his tongue in the back of his throat/mouth. My girlfriend says her son has low muscle tone due to some rare disorder.
Avatar f tn I am having difficulty finding one that will look at more than TSH. I have multiple symptoms and that list keeps growing and worsening...
Avatar f tn I had an on call doctor tell me it was ok also, I'm a pharmacy technician and I asked the pharmacist because not for anything I feel like they know more about drugs since they've studied them and that's what he told me. I wouldn't trust it.
Avatar n tn s comments and his initial recommendation of a 6-month followup, versus the letter suggesting more tests should be done, is driving me crazy.
Avatar n tn I developed irritation / inflammation on both sides of my tongue 5 months ago. I have been to 4 doctors, including ENT but none of them were able to give a certain diagnosis. My blood and allergy tests came back normal. These are not sores but rather a red irritation that makes the tongue bumpy/uneven accompanied by thin purple waves on the sides of the tongue. I also get burning sensation on the tip of my tongue which is a little more red than before.
Avatar m tn (i have NOT had any fever or other typcial ARS symptoms in  4-6 weeks period, the only symptoms i had were loss of mucosal lining of mouth for a week or two, red sore on side tongue for same week, two pin-head sized under skin transparent brown blisters on tip of right middle finger & right third finger that didnt respond to topical antibiotic fucidin but healed & crusted on their own in a week) Symptoms occuring AFTER seroconversion from 8-9 weeks post exposure: 1.
541264 tn?1359203511 I'd rule out anything physical (like mouth formation problems, being tongue tied, teeth issues) and also have his hearing checked--hearing problems can cause speech issues, too. Then I'd see if speech therapy is a possibility. Can you have him evaluated--to see if there are any other issues with him? My son didn't speak clearly for quite a while (he spoke later than other kids his age)--then when he did start speaking, he couldn't say his "r's" and he had a lisp.
461010 tn?1208482459 i had a full set of std test and they all came up negative. i was searching on the net and found something similar to what my tongue looks like. its called geographic tongue. my doc seems not to be so worried about it, she saw it and said it didnt look like nothing. didnt want to do a swab test eaither. im guessing my best bet is to ask for a specialist and let him see it.
479581 tn?1317757488 inflexible big toe: do the xrays show that there is adequate joint space in the great toe/metatarsal joint? if not, tendon lengthening would not help. you would need a decompression osteotomy (shortening procedure) to open up the joint space. does your 2nd toe hurt when walking? if not, then syndactylization of the adjacent toes (sewing the toes together) will help keep the toe from floating and may be a good option.
Avatar f tn They are due to stasis and infection of the sinus cavities, and the resultant drainage into the nose and mouth causes the bad smell. If you do have a chronic sinus infection, typical antibiotic treatment is for 4-6 weeks. A nasal steroid spray is also beneficial as well as oral steroids. Nasal saline irrigations over the counter like NeilMed or Neti pot are very effective, but worsen Eustachian tube dysfunction (water in the ears or feeling of fullness in the ears).
Avatar n tn a burning sensation in the mouth and tongue can be caused by many different things. Commonly, it is a reaction to contact with a particular substance such as a toothpaste or mouthwash. It can also be caused by a reaction to certain chewing gum, foods or additives. Less commonly it can be caused by systemic or metabolic problems such as vitamin deficiency.

Avatar n tn Turns out the core was not very deep into the gum, but just enough to be out of reach of my floss and water pic and toothbrush. It was a thin hard piece and kind of got "lodged in" there. I want to say thank you to the recommendation about the salt water technique. I'm just so grateful to finally have that thing out of my mouth!!! Whoooo!

Avatar m tn Recently visited a doc who does the pillar procedure. He saw the size of my uvula and suggested a uvulectomy along with the pillar procedure. After that is done he wants to scope my nose and see if he can get me breathing through my nose. Does this sound like a good course of action?
