Common Questions and Answers about Toddler sleep problems vomiting

Avatar f tn s been in a toddler bed since last June, without issue, and we have never had any problems with the toddler bed, until last week. After 3 nights of issues in the toddler bed and her expressing a desire over teh last 6 months for a "big girl bed" (her words not mine, she felt her toddler bed was for her to play with her babies and wanted a bigger bed like mommy and daddy), we moved her to the twin so I could lay with her, as I am 7 months pregnant.
Avatar n tn Not wanting to eat is not as much of a concern as not drinking is - a child can dehydrate very quickly and dehydration can be very serious, especially in a child. Dehydration will also happen a lot faster if the child is also vomiting and/or has diarrhea or a fever. Please do not hesitate - take your child to the ER. Please let us know what you find out and how your child is doing. Best of luck!
Avatar n tn This all goes on for a couple of weeks, then he goes again for months without problems. During the non-vomiting phase the gagging stops, for the most part. He may gag on a large piece of food that hasn't been chewed well enough, but it won't cause vomiting. He can laugh, play, cry without vomiting, etc. He gradually starts eating again after a month or so. It doesn't seem to cause him any discomfort, surprisingly. He throws up and then goes right about his business.
11248659 tn?1469915817 I have a toddler myself as well. She goes to bed at 8:00 pm and sleeps until 8:00 am.
Avatar f tn Last night for example, I had eaten a lamb roast about 5.30..I was awake until 12am, then I went to sleep, I then woke up suddenly at 3.30am sweating and with the feeling of wanting to vomit, I didn't really have bad nausea with it though. I went to the bathroom and did pass some stools. I continued to stay in the bathroom for about half an hour due to the feeling of vomiting and sweating, but I didn't.
7677085 tn?1395374075 Okay I know this is the wrong forum to post this on, but my little girl (eighteen months today) has puked about eight times in less than twelve hours. i checked the toddler forum and the pediatric forum and they rarely get any replies, so I'm begging for help from mommies on here! I took her to her pediatrician and he told me what to watch for (danger wise). I'm looking for comfort techniques and advice on how she should sleep tonight.
349463 tn?1333571576 The question is where should the baby sleep?? My son and toddler both have their own room. We have an extra smaller room off the family room that we use as an office. My son also stays at his dad's house about 4 nights every other week. Right now he has the biggest room. There is room for a crib in his room, the office (if we move out the office furniture) or we have room in my daughter's room. Another thing to consider is that my husband works from home and needs his office.
Avatar n tn I am 6+1 and I haven't had the morning sickness kick in full force yet. I'm having to choke down food but no vomiting. I also have a toddler. Dreading when the vomiting starts! Maybe this babe will be a boy and I won't have any morning sickness because with DD I was barfing from 6 weeks well into mid-2nd tri. No advice, just empathy.
Avatar f tn Its been a crazy day! I'm 39 weeks 2 days. I had contractions ALL night which is pretty typical for me except last night they were a lot more intense. Then as I'm trying to get my 2 yr old out the door for daycare & work he throws up. Spend the next hour cleaning vomit & finding sub's for work. Then after another very sad hour we finally settle down. Lunchtime comes & my toddler asks for crackers & cheese.
Avatar f tn 35 weeks, healthy big baby, but this pregnancy has not been easy. Lost a lot of weight from vomiting in the beginning til 6 months & now I'm swelling. Ready to meet my baby and get back to my normal self!!
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your child seems to have circardium related sleep disorder. It starts in childhood, onset of sleep problems tend to be associated with stress, anxiety, or circadian rhythm sleep disorders. They may also be associated with sleep disorders (eg, sleep apnea, periodic limb movements), medical conditions that cause pain, psychiatric diseases (eg, anxiety, depression).
Avatar f tn I had nausea and vomiting really bad the first 3 months. Like we're talking "nothing but water for 48 hours type" of bad. Nothing worked for me, I just got through it, because any medicine or rememdy i tried never worked. But I've been told anything with ginger helps, saltine crackers, sprite. Small meals. Always be sure to drink water no matter what so you don't get dehydrated!
Avatar m tn Very important questions by margy. I would add - are any of these also problems at school?
Avatar f tn Its tough when they are that little. Pedialyte will be of no help unless they have vomiting and diarrhea. As for meds, unless they have an ear infection or something bacterial meds won't be of any help. There are a lot of viruses going around now, including influenza... you should take them to be checked out by the pediatrician just to be safe.
Avatar f tn So my daughter has had trouble with vomiting 3-5 nights a week since she was a toddler (she is almost 11). She has been diagnosed with Asthma and a few environmental allergies. Her allergist stated that the vomiting is due to the asthma. However, I am starting to suspect the opposite may be true. I know vomiting is not good for her esophagus. She does not experience pain before vomiting.
Avatar f tn My daughter has had proectile vomiting since birth that was written off as reflux until 13 months of age. When I told the pediatrician that she refuses to swallow solids (baby food) at this age, he referred to a GI doc who diagnosed her with eosionophilic esophagitis after an endoscopy. Since then she has been on a elimination diet and is NOT allergic to milk, nuts, soy and wheat. We still have to rule out eggs and shellfish. She is also on Prevacid daily.
Avatar f tn I say as long as they are happy in there keep them in it! Lol my son is almost 2. He can climb out of his crib but he only does it if it's a saturday.morning and he's said mommy! Daddy! Too many times.and we don't come in (hoping to grab a few more moments of sleep!lol). Otherwise he stays. I KNOW if I put him in a toddler bed it's going to be a battle to keep him in it. I just don't have the energy right now.
Avatar f tn I have a 2 yr old that started with vomiting 2 weeks ago. Afetr 3 days of vomiting and stomach cramping almost mainly at night, he was admitted to the hospital for dehydration and testing. the Dr ordered blood testing, urine testing, and xray. He seemed to get better and testing showed nothing out of the ordinary. He was released on the third day, but began vomiting as soon as we got home. He was readmitted on the next day.

Avatar n tn Hello there. I'm 7 weeks pregnant with baby#2.:-) My son will be about 33 months old. What is some advice for helping toddler understand the idea of newborn. Any advice on ways you've tried would be very much helpful. Thank you in advance. God bless All.
