Toddler rash one side body

Common Questions and Answers about Toddler rash one side body

rash

About 3 weeks ago, I noticed a skin rash all over my 3 1/2 year olds body. It looked like very little bumps (not really noticable from far away) but you could definitely feel it (kinda like rough sandpaper). It was everywhere - face, middle, hands, feet, armpits, palms, soles of feet (little less on the arms and legs). She had been swimming in pools about 3 days in a row (more frequent than our weekly trip to the pool).
My daughter is 21 months, and has had a rash on her stomach, chest, and right side stretching to part her back. The rash isn't a covering rash. It's more like patches of rash in all of those areas. It is almost unseen by the naked eye. You have to actually run your hand over the area and look under a light to see the difference. She was sick about a week ago with a slight ear infection, runny nose, vomiting, fever of 102 or more, and inflamed eyes.
However since the rash is only in one side I feel its most likely a shingles or eczema or allergic dermatitis to something that part of the body came in touch with. I think you should discuss this with your pediatrician. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining the rash. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
When he sits he will not sit with weight equally distributed on both hips, he'll immediately shift his weight to one side or the other, or need to sit sideways with a leg up, then he's fine. Since a 5 point harness prevents him from doing so, he can't figure out how to fix whatever it is that hurts. This week he also started it in the stroller. He will not sit on my lap without shifting to one side or the other. Even if I distract him with TV or a snack or anything he's all over the place.
I did the very same thing at that age - except for me, I scratched little scabby places in my nose. My parents kept that one fingernail cut REALLY REALLY short and that worked. She'll outgrow it.
My toddler developed a rash on her inner thighs, a bit like what I would think of as prickly heat. A week later, she vomited and at the same time red bumps began to appear under her right arm. As I watched it, the bumps were actually changing shape and size - sometimes small and red, sometimes big and raised. I took her to the hospital but everyone felt it wasnt meningitis.
Gerbils, I think you can ask your doctor to run a VL test whenever you want. My doc said let's do one at 6 months post tx and I said no, I want one at 4, 8, 12, 24 weeks post and she said fine. It is your choice, if you have insurance. I have blue cross and they have paid for every test, no problem. No way I would wait for 6, 12 months for post tx VL.
My 2 yr old daughter has suddenly developed a non itchy rash on one side of her face. My GP does not seem to have a clue as to what is causing it and has been prescribed antibiotics and Fucidin H cream, but nothing has got rid of it. It is not anywhere else on her body and does not appear to bother her too much. It is spreading down her face and now around her mouth.
Sometimes they will fall asleep and have only eaten from one side or whatever, so I always pump off the excess from both sides. You will have a freezer full before you know it.
if you've tried everything and nothing works, you can look into Chinese medicine, herbs or even acupuncture, which my neighbor (had full body hives for weeks) tried. It took one week using herbs and acupunture for hers to completely disappear. Hang in there, it's not forever.
Help, i have oral herpes, the scabs are closed and pink skin is just visible, then i kissed my son 3 years old in the stomach, about 3 days before, after taking a bath today he got rashes in the right side part of his body, is this hsv1?
one doc says lupus; one says eczema. Extremely dry eyes and sometimes the mouth. Cluster headaches that come and go. Chronic nausea and diarrhea. Extreme fatigue. Chronic blood in urine. Elevated SED rate, low IgG – underwent one year of IgG infusions. In the past five years, I have been diagnosed with: Peripheral Neuropathy in GI tract, left arm, both lower legs and feet. Degenerative arthritis – one knee replacement. Severe restless leg syndrome that flares every day, asleep or sitting.
Okay I posted two pictures. One of her tummy and one of her back. The back one is a little washed out because my camera just plain stinks. Anyway, the first two pics in my album are photos of it. You have to click on them and make them bigger to see anything. There's actually more than you can see in the pictures. Just wondering if anyone thinks that is the beginning stages of chickenpox or if it is a heat rash or milk allergy (she just started whole milk after drinking soy formula).

I know that an attack of shingles reawakens the virus and can cause great pain and suffering. I had chicken pox as a toddler, and shingles in 1995. I've never had mono, though no doubt I carry the virus, as virtually everyone does. What I'd like to know is the thinking behind the idea that somehow the herpes part can trigger MS. Is it because of the nervouse system link? Please elaborate. Thanks.
Pap came back questionable Nov 2010. Due for a colposcopy, have not had one yet. Weird rash around Thanksgiving worth mentioning, appeared out of nowhere on my shoulder. Looked like ringworm even though we don't have any pets. Went away after about 4 days. Lyme disease came to mind (Live in Northwest) but I highly doubt it. Strange appearance of new freckles in past 2 months. Appearing all over body and coming up in groups, almost like constellations.
If I get them in one part of my body, they tend to appear on the other side of my body as well, almost symetrically. If it starts on the back of one hand, the next most probable spot to break out next is the other hand. Leg for leg, arm for arm. Once in any area, they spread in short leaps and bounds, often establishing another group within 6 inches. And, if left unattended, any single blister starts to form small clusters of new blisters around it.
He sometimes falls when he gets off balance. Pain moves unpredictably throughout his body, One day it might be in his foot, another day it might be in his hand, arm, groin, leg, side, head, and other places. The pain moves randomly and with out any rhyme or reason with different degrees of intensity and frequency all over his body. Right at this particular minute he is having intense pain in his right arm around his elbow and it radiates down to his hand.
12/24/09 - Visited same doctor about red rash on testicles, plus flu-like symptoms. Experienced a dry cough, chills (only for one day), body aches (again, only one day), disorientation, and sore throat. I felt feverish, but never had a temperature greater than 99.4 degrees. Was tested for both mono and strep - both negative. Blood test showed elevated inflammation response- doctor interpreted it as an upper respiratory virus.
I am finding myself having the most energy, in the morning and early afternoon, so I try to prepare the dinner before 4 pm, so I dont get behind. I also have a side-job, and the one day I worked both jobs, and then took the family out to the movies, it was just too much for me, and I became tearfully exhausted, so I have decided not to go out at night anymore.
Also, I noticed that when I'm going to sleep and I wake up in the middle of the night my body (usually my head and right arm) I feel that my body is having a tremor even though you can't see it. There are no movments, it's like my inside is shaking. I didn't want to go to sleep at night I was so scared. I did make an appointment with my doctor for next Wednesday. I've always had a clean bill of health. I hope someone can shed some light.
They say my case sounds uncomfortable but they have reports of worst itching accompanied by severe body rashes/Hives that usually clear with 3 months or so with prednisone intervention. I do not have rashes but my skin does turn red easily when pressure is applied and it take 15-30 minutes or so to fade. My doctors feel that with prednisone/adarax my immune system should but settle down in the next month and the itching should subside.
The other side of debate The term "candida" does not imply the same thing for everyone.
I dont know if its related, but after the migraine stopped, the next day the skin on my right thigh started to hurt, very sensitive, even clothes hurt to wear. Then it travelled up to my hip area on one side then to the waist area. Then the sore skin travelled over to the other side, and down my left leg. Right down to the foot. This process has lasted a month.
From what I learned Lyme can lay dormit for a very long time some people dont have symptoms for years and years or the symptoms are soo little they dont even notice them and then one day they all just start. I also learned some patients do get re occuring rashes read that in a lyme book. Thats all i can tell ya tho sorry... There will be more people around to answer you for sure! Good Luck and I would just get another blood test to make sure it is totaly gone.
THen I gave it to her a few days ago and she basically developed a rash all over her body, mainly her back arms, on her hands sides. So it's better now thank God but I will bring that up with our paediatrician.
My Sister is 36 Weeks pregnant, and she has developed a rash on her body which has spread all over her and is quite itchy, she has been pre-scribed diffent creams but nothing is working, she was with the doctor today and he said he thinks its scabies. I am concerned as my sister is living with me until her house is ready and I am getting married in Two weeks time. Have you any preventions methods?
The arch on my left foot was affected by the foot drop and it is now higher than my right foot. That affects my walking as I am down on one side. I can walk about five steps and then I have to stop as I go sideways. I have left sided weakness, which affects my balance and coordination. The numbness in my fingers and hands affects my fine motor skills. I go to the Pool and Joint Works run by the Arthritis Foundation twice a week and I really give my legs and arms a good workout.
Nausea (upset stomach) and vomiting are complex processes involving many chemicals in the body and several parts of the body, including the brain and the small intestine. It is likely that Zofran works in the small intestine, but it may also work in the brain. The medication blocks serotonin, a chemical produced by the body that is associated with nausea and vomiting. Serotonin has many effects in the body and has several receptors where it can bind.
