Common Questions and Answers about Toddler milk allergy symptoms

milk

Avatar f tn We have seen a peditrician and a dermatologist. I am now at a loss. Could this be a sympton of a milk protein allergy? That is the only constant I can think of (I consumed dairy while I breastfed > stopped breastfeeding and gave him Enfamil Lipid exclusively until he started solids > now that he is on solids he drinks organic whole milk and eats cheese, yogurt, etc.) He doesn;t have any other allergy symptons other than the acne though...
Avatar n tn 3-4gm low salt diet is a more reasonable amount. As far as his allergy to dairy, the substitutes for dairy products are soymilk, rice milk, almond milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, soy ice cream, and rice ice cream. Soy products (which has no dairy, all plant) and he will be getting all the nutrients he would have gotten from milk. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar f tn he vomits during the night then in the morning? I am also wondering if its an allergy to milk, does he drink a bottle of milk before he throws up?
Avatar f tn My 2 year old has had chronic diarrhea for over 5 months now, we've had allergy tests, stool samples, blood work, etc etc etc and nothing is coming up except that he has low iron. Our doctor says not to worry about it (toddler's diarrhea) but I can tell it takes a toll on him. Some days he seems overly irritable, tired, with large bags on his eyes. We live in an isolated part of the country, and just getting into see a pediatrician is taking months. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn Although, his last cup of chocolate milk was 2 weeks ago because I did read the issue about milk allergy symptoms and wanted to see if his knee pain changed as abruptly as it started. Today he also complained of his knees hurting but all but one bruise below his knees are gone.
184674 tn?1360860493 I just wanted to maybe, hopefully, get some ideas on what I can feed my 14 month old, who has a cow milk allergy (yet he does just fine with goat milk). Right now, he's only accepting of eating fruits, stewed vegetables, a select few cereals and crackers (ingredients free of milk products), pasta, and the jars of stage 3 Gerber baby food with meats.
Avatar f tn However, the behavior often seems to me like an allergy. I wonder if the only way to test for an allergy is to do a blood test with an allergist? Maybe he is intolerant, but not allergic?
1900997 tn?1321659956 Thanks for your reply! Thing is though, lactose-free milk causes exactly the same symptoms, so surely there must be something else going on here?
Avatar f tn He stopped doing it on August 30th, 2015. I was thinking maybe allergies to milk (he had just started drinking more whole milk after weaning during the day) or even just allergies and the Dr kinda brushed me off. Then I asked him for an allergy test and he reluctantly did, but no one ever called me with results. Now here it is October 18, 2015 and he did it again twice so far today. He has an appointment for a well check on October 21, 2015 with the nurse practitioner.
Avatar m tn Milk intolerance causes different symptoms and requires different treatment than does a true milk allergy. Common signs and symptoms of milk protein or lactose intolerance include digestive problems, such as bloating, gas or diarrhea, after consuming milk. ' You could read more about this at the following link - http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/milk-allergy/DS01008 See a doctor or allergist if you experience food allergy symptoms shortly after eating.
Avatar f tn So, finding out if you have a lactose allergy is important. What other symptoms do you have?
Avatar f tn u could have a allergy called lactose intolerance which basically means u cant break down the sugars from lactose which is mainly found in dairy products there are tests for this with your doctor{breath tests} and is very common.
Avatar f tn Continued that day then diarrhea for approx 4 to 5 days. Recently a GI diagnosed possible DELAYED MILK Allergy. He does keep a mild bumpy rash on upper arms. My concern is can this type of allergy really cause this type of cycle? I would think he would have more symptoms closer together. We began NO milk protein diet& scheduled MRI next month. Will MRI only show brain or can they see intestinal problems as well?
Avatar f tn To find out whether your child is having contact dermatitis to milk(eczema)or he is having milk allergy(rashes are present in the mild form of milk allergy),skin tests and food challenge tests have to be done by an allergist.Pls consult him for that. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn The baby may show reaction towards breast milk also if the mother is taking dairy products in her diet.Diagnosis of milk allergy can be confirmed after skin ***** or patch tests and food challenge tests.Confirmation can be done with blood tests like RAST.It also helps in differentiating milk allergy from lactose intolerance. You need to consult an allergy specialist for that. Treatment involoves elimination of all dairy products from the diet.
Avatar m tn Milk, and dairy of such doesnt give me diarrhea or pain, like common lactose tolerance symptoms. Milk just alters my stools, turning them light colored after a few days of drinking it. So does sour cream and ice cream. I dont have this problem with cheese, and the lactose tolerance pills did not make a difference in this, because I tried them. For a while my doctor couldnt get my iron up, and we couldnt figure out why.
Avatar f tn I've always been allergic (not lactose intolerance) to milk since I was born. Now at 5 weeks all I want to eat is milk and things made from milk. Does this mean my baby isn't allergic to milk? Or my allergy for milk going away since I'm pregnant? Or just being pregnant cravings? I don't want to drink milk thinking I'm not allergic and get sick. Help please?
782550 tn?1333484257 Like wheat or gluten contains riboflavin which is found in milk also.So people allergic to milk may show allergy towards wheat also. This phenomena is called cross reactivity. Pls do not consume any form of dairy product. In addition to the avoidance of allergen in your diet, you can take some OTC antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin. They can relieve the symptoms. If your symptoms do not improve then pls consult an allergy specialist. You may need steroids or immunotherapy.
Avatar f tn Tuesday night I did not have any milk with dinner and I was fine. Could this be a sudden milk allergy? I am also allergic to broccoli and certain fruits such as: apples, peaches, pears, nectarines and cherries. Please help. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Like wheat or gluten contains riboflavin which is found in milk also.So people allergic to milk may show allergy towards wheat also. This phenomena is called cross reactivity. Milk from other mammals (such as goats and sheep), and hydrolysed milk and soya formulas, are sometimes used as a substitute for babies who are at risk of developing cows’ milk allergy. However, the allergens in milk from goats and sheep are very similar to those in cows’ milk.
Avatar n tn This past January I took her to an allergist who diagnosed (scratch test) her with allergy to milk, casein, corn, tomato, carrots, bannana, apple, grapes. The doctor told me to avoid these foods and do food test. She has been doing much better but something just didn't seem right. I have found that she breaks out from other foods that I give her as well... It just seems like too many foods to be possible...Last week I took her to a different allergiest for a second opinion.
Avatar n tn My 95 year old mother was told she has a milk allergy, specifically a delayed reaction to milk protien. She was given a list of foods that she could not eat and told to read all labels to see if the foods had these ingredents. Just about anything you eat. no bread, butter, cheese, whey, you name it it is on this list. She is in assisted living and made the diatian a list of foods that she could eat.
1208279 tn?1289020783 The headaches though could be a symptom of milk intolerance . I get headaches if I drink milk.
Avatar f tn If you have a nut allergy, you can try rice milk. There are many rice milk options available. Trader Joe's makes a really good one that they sell in the refrigerated section, if you live in an area where they are located. It is not uncommon to have sensitivities or outright allergy to soy. Soy is one of the top 16 allergens.
Avatar m tn red itchy eyes when i wake up, clear/white mucous from the nose and sometimes phlegm. This has been the 1st year I have had any allergy type symptoms. Preceding these allergies was a year of little sleep, excessive caffeine usage, and some alcohol use. Not to mention my diet was pretty terrible consisting of fast food. Earlier this year when I was about 20 pounds heavier I started having pains in my abdomen.
