Common Questions and Answers about Tobradex in the ear

tobradex

Avatar n tn Are they for the right part if the body? Look at the bottle. It may have a picture of the eye or the ear to prevent confusion. Finally, ask the pharmacist. They can review the prescription and call the doctor if needed.
Avatar f tn He refused to admit that the Tobradex was the culprit of my blurred vision in the one eye. He also gave me drops to lower the pressure in that eye. After 2 days of taking the drops, my vision returned to normal. It was IOP that caused my blurred vision and was a direct result of the Tobradex. My doctor almost caused me permanent damage as a result of negligence; but I do live in a developing country were the standards are not the same as in the US. Be careful with this medicine!
Avatar n tn Tobradex is known to cause problems in the eye, and I am one of those affected by it. Here's a debunking of your claim http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/mobileart-rx.asp?drug=tobradex&monotype=rx-desc&monopage=0 http://www.drugs.com/tobradex.
Avatar m tn During my treatment(s) I never had my pressure checked by the emergency room doctors but did when I visited the two optometrists about two years ago but the last couple of times I was prescribed Tobradex was by emergency room doctors and my pressure wasn't checked. I haven't seen an optometrist since (I know, I need a check up after two years) but I'm deathly afraid of Glaucoma and being diagnosed with it and as a consequence loosing my drivers license, etc. leaving me unemployed.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the info. I was told to use the Tobradex drops to help with the pain I am having.
Avatar m tn After using the drops and coming in for a follow-up visit the following week, my vision had drastically gotten worse (the first Wednesday I went in was the line below "20/20", and a few days ago on Wednesday it was 2 lines above "20/20"). I was concerned because I had not put the drops in for about 4 hours and didn't think it was from the milkiness of the drops. I was told to wait a couple weeks to see if it got better.
Avatar n tn I had eye surgery a month ago on 7/24/09. My doctor(opthamologist) pescibed tobradex to be used 4X daily. I put these eye drops in as directd. I have been using them now for a month. How long do I have to use this medicine? I am also using a tobradex ointment at bedtime. Can you plesae let me know? Frank.
Avatar f tn I stopped using it, and everything was fine for a while, my lower eyelids were back to normal, without that awful wrinkles and puffiness and redness. But in about 10-14 days the problem started again. I again used Tobradex for about 3-4 days. Everything went back to normal, but all the symptoms are back once more. I don't use cosmetics, except for a facial cream (which I don't apply near the eyes) and an eye cream (Clinique), which I stopped using once I got this problem.
Avatar f tn I have clear bubbles in the upper eyelids, and i dont know what they are, They does not pain, but i would like to remove it.
Avatar n tn Neither Maxitrol or tobradex are good choice for allergic conjunctivitis. Both often irritate the eye and have harseh preservatives in them. You would best use a good artificial tear: Systane, Blink, Refresh, Soothe and something for allergies like Patanol or Pataday. If your allergy is bad enough to require a steroid then lotemax, or pred mild would be better choices.
Avatar m tn If it is a patch of inflamed corneal tissue, the tobradex may help. A consultation with a corneal specialist may be helpful if this episode does not resolve with medications.
Avatar n tn The pain is a shooting stabbing pain, starting behind the eye/under the eyelid and shooting up to my forehead and to the side through my temple and near the ear. The pain stays to the front top left of my head and after the initial stabbing pain, it decreases slowly to a throbbing painful ache. That pain lingers until I move the eye again to cause the stabbing pain. There is also slight blurred/hazy vision in my left eye. I wear contacts, my prescription is -10 in both eyes.
Avatar n tn Hi doctor, About a year and a half ago an opthalmologist ended my 10 year span of using naphazoline hydrocholoride which had been prescribed by my gen physician. He put me on flax seed oil, allegra, restasis, sterilid and qtips, moisturizing eyedrops and tobradex. At one point he did tell me to slow down on the tobradex but I couldn't handle having such bloodshot eyes so he's allowed me to continue usage for the past year and a half while monitoring my IOP levels.
Avatar n tn My 93 yr. old mom was given Tobradex for an eye infection and has not been the same since. She had no med. hist. other than moderate dementia. After the 1st dose of tobradex, she became difficult to arrouse and because of this, slightly dehydrated. She also had immediate increased difficulty in swallowing. Approx. 3 weeks after dc of ointment, she was in the hospital due to build up of upper resp. fluid.
Avatar m tn You could certainly try a short course of Tobradex ophthalmic ointment to the affected lid skin. If the condition has not improved in about a week or 10 days, I would have an ophthalmologist examine your child.
Avatar n tn Would you recommend an 19 mo. old infant to use Tobradex for a chalazion? We just got a rx but we are not sure this is safe for an infant under two years old. The side effects for long term use mention glaucoma and vision problems? Should I be concerned about this?
Avatar m tn I saw a opthamologist recently who said I have dry eye syndrome and suggested systane ultra. How can I have dry eye syndrome when my eyes are tearing so much? Could the tobradex have reduced inflammation on my tear ducts, thereby causing increase in tearing? Also my eyes are red all the time and looks like I have been smoking pot or something. What can be done for this?
Avatar n tn On day 6, pressure was good according to my doc but today on day 13, pressure had gone above 30. My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure.
Avatar m tn The Chalazion remains approximately the size of a pea however in the last day or so it seems to have grown a sort of slight blister - similar in color and appearance to acne. I feel that my vision in the affected eye is somewhat blurry. I see the doctor again in a few days and will call attention to this. Since I last wrote I consulted a second doctor who made the same diagnosis. Both doctors prescribed an antibiotic - Augmentin 1 g to be taken twice a day for three days.
Avatar f tn / surgeon diagnosed as me as possible glaucoma. The pressure in my eyes was 24.5 . He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open. ( looks like a lazy eye) never had it before. He says my inplants look great. yesterday i saw him my right eye had raised pressure to 26.
Avatar m tn thank you for your reply. i still feel some gritty sensation, how would i know if my eye was scratched? i was thinking tobradex to heal in case the grit scratched the eye, and to protect against the other person's spit. would using that be harmful? what drop would u suggest for those 2 situations? since i have an auto-immune disorder, would taking valacyclovir help prevent transmission from another person?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed and given vigamox (4 x day) and Tobradex. The doctor insisted I come back the next day to check my pupil after dilated. So, I paid another $140 for that exam. Now, they (it's a medical center where different doctors step in) insist I come back every 2 days to check on the healing. Unfortunately, I can't take off anymore work or pay another $140. The redness, itching and stinging have all decreased in the last 36 hrs since starting treatment.
Avatar n tn i had a cataract surgery month ago, but still it doesnt look like its healing well., i noticed a redness of my eye,. it looks to me that its like bleeding from the stitch...my surgeon gave me tobradex., well it does work....it's does stop the bleeding/redness, but when i stop using it. it comes back again!!!....i really dont know whats happening, plese help!!.......
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with GPC 2 months ago and I've been using Tobradex for two months. My Opthamologist says my lids look better, but there is still some allergen there. He told me that I need to stop taking the Tobradex because apparently it's not good to take it for a long period of time. I've stopped taking it and my eyes are back to feeling awful. They didn't feel 100% back to normal on the Tobradex, but it helped!
Avatar m tn No you should not use tobradex as the steroid in it can make herpes keratitis much worse if you do in fact have that. Suggest you add a antibiotic lid cleaner like Ocusoft Foam Eyelid cleaner or TheraTears SteriLid foam eyelid cleaner. Both available over the counter. Us one not need both; use at least 4 times/week when shower/bathe. You may need to get a new opinion about the cause from an Eye MD with a specialty in cornea and external disease.
