Tobradex for chalazion

Common Questions and Answers about Tobradex for chalazion

tobradex

Avatar n tn Would you recommend an 19 mo. old infant to use Tobradex for a chalazion? We just got a rx but we are not sure this is safe for an infant under two years old. The side effects for long term use mention glaucoma and vision problems? Should I be concerned about this?
Avatar n tn I was told that the eye itself looked very good...no infection/abrasions noted. I was put on Tobradex drops for pain management. I have not noticed any improvement with my eye since using the drops. I'm wanting to know if I should be seen by an opthamologist. Does an opthamologist treat problems associated with the eyelids/muscles when the eye appears to be healthy?
Avatar m tn Chalazion surgery is never an emergency and can wait till you are ready for it. Hopefully that will not be necessary. You have plenty of time left for it to go away with conservative management.
Avatar m tn I'm taking Doxycycline 100 mg/24 h to treat recurrent chalazion/internal hordeolum but this seems not to help. I've been told that Doxycycline doesn't help treat acute bacterial infection but MGD. I have a bit of eye discharge in the mornings. I guess this is due to the draining internal hordeolum. Would Cephalexin 500mg or Tobrex be better options to treat this condition?
Avatar n tn Yes, I've had my stye for 6 months now, I've beed trying to get rid of it. I went to an eye doctor, he said it was a "pimple"... that sounds like BS to me. He also prescribed me TobraDex Stye Ointment, but I've seen NO results out of it. I also tried the warm compress, but my stye is too old and solid to react to it.
Avatar m tn So he said to do warm compresses, continue the Blephagel but already use Tobradex Drops (w/ steroid) for a week. I also complained that my eyes seem to be bad upon waking up, better during the day, then bad again in the evening. He asked if i read often and I told him that i work at least 5-9 hours a day in front of a computer since my job is in the I.T. Industry. He prescribed me Artificial Tears (Systane Ultra) to reduce my Dry Eyes.
Avatar m tn After i was injected triamcinolone acetonide in one chalazion in my upper eyelid a year and a half ago, infection spread to my lower eyelid and conjunctiva. Since then I have been using several antibiotics with little help: ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, monofloxacin, fusicid acid, chlortetracycline... Also anti-inflamatory drugs like Tobradex and FML which help reduce inflamation but not treat the cause.
Avatar m tn How long do you think it will take for the chalazion on my upper lid to completely drain if I continue with the conservative treatment? Will my vision improve as soon as the chalazion resolves? I'm also aware that a steroid injection into the lesion can reduce the size of the chalazion. Would this be an option that would help me at this point other than surgery?
Avatar n tn My two year old has a pea sized chalazion on her lower right lid for 2 months. We saw a pediatric opthamologist who gave us the option of surgery or doing nothing. I am wondering what the risks are to not having it removed? It is really not a bother to her and cosmetically it is only noticeable when looking at her from the side. We were not at all consistent about compresses initially, but have been doing them at least twice daily now. Is it too late for us to try this therapy?
Avatar n tn My opth has diagnosed me with blepharitis, I use sterilid w/ compresses and take flaxseed oil, and I also use preservative free eyedrops for moisture. However nothing has worked to my satisfaction besides tobradex which I've used for about a year and half- my eyelid inflammation is pretty severe even with the other treatments, however w/ tobradex my symptoms are almost nonexistent.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem using Tobradex (the generic version though) a month ago. Vision was blurry for about a week after I stopped using it.
Avatar n tn I had an eye infection(eye redness) and my doctor pescribed me Tobradex for 5 days. The eye redness is gone now but I'm having problem now on my right eye Problems are blurred vision ,eye pain upon eye movement and a sensitivity to light. I searched on Google and found in many articles that the eye blurriness is one of the side effects of using Tobradex. My question is there anyone had the same problem of blurry vision? what precautions to take ? Is your eye is now ok?
Avatar m tn 2 drops a day for 2 days after the procedure. Is it ok to use Tobradex, once a month, for 3 days at a time? Any thoughts on what could be causing my reaction? Thank you!
Avatar n tn It is very unlikely to cause permanent astigmatism. You may need glasses for astigmatism that is INCIDENTAL to the chalazion rather than due to it. I suggest you see another Eye MD for a second opinion and a complete comprehensive medical eye exam. Find one at www.aao.
Avatar n tn No it wasnt draining,i have this chalazion for a long time and it doesnt drain,i just wanted to know if it is considered an entry point for hiv,a wound ore something like that
Avatar m tn Its been almost 3 weeks now since I have suffered from chalazion on my left upper eyelid. It was cured on the 4th day but I have noticed that it altered the shape of my eyelid. Im suspecting it might be a slight droopy eyelid. This is the first time i had a chalazion. Can chalazions cause droopy eyelids or cause the eyelid shape to change in anyways permanantely?
471737 tn?1327252451 A chalazion is the proper name for an obstructed oil gland in the lid that becomes swollen and tender when fresh. It may "come to a head" and drain the oil with rapid clearing OR may slowly form a firm nodule that can take weeks or months to clear as the body removes the oil a molecule at a time. A 'stye' is a lay term for the same thing.
Avatar n tn I am planning on getting a surgery for a chalazion which I have had a for a few months now. I wanted to know how long can I except swelling to last after this procedure? ( 1 week, several weeks, months). Thanks!
Avatar m tn that came and went on my eyelid where eye liner is applied, painful, scratchy eyes), he prescribed generic Tobradex drops which I used QID x 7D. After using the drops and coming in for a follow-up visit the following week, my vision had drastically gotten worse (the first Wednesday I went in was the line below "20/20", and a few days ago on Wednesday it was 2 lines above "20/20").
Avatar n tn I had eye surgery a month ago on 7/24/09. My doctor(opthamologist) pescibed tobradex to be used 4X daily. I put these eye drops in as directd. I have been using them now for a month. How long do I have to use this medicine? I am also using a tobradex ointment at bedtime. Can you plesae let me know? Frank.
Avatar m tn I've had astigmatism in my 20/20 right eye due to styes and chalazion since november 2012. I've had chalazion cut out twice since november, swelling is down, still have astigmatism. I try to do hot compresses often, they don't seem to do much. I'm going to talk to MD about having the corneal topography scan done. I've used steroid drops. Any help or similar situations would be appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn A chalazion is filled with firm, hard to remove oil and inflammatory material. It does not drain like a stye which is filled with pus. Eyelid surgery for a chalazion involve local anesthetic injection, putting on a round 'chalazion clamp" making a X shaped incision on the back of the lid (usually sometimes front) and using a 'chalazion currette' to scrape out the 'granulaion tissue" often a steroid is injection in the remainder of the chalazia.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your help Dr Hagan. I want to know, is it too late to begin self treatment with hot compresses, to see if the chalazion can drain by itself? What is the max ammount of time that i can wait to see if the chalazion heals by itself? Im kind of worried that an insicion can cause cosmetic issues on the eyelid. Also, im curious about someting.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have lower lid problem since January 2009. Both lower lids become puffy, a little bit itchy, red, wrinkled and visibly dry. I went to ophthalmologist and was prescribed Tobradex (antibiotic/corticosteroid). This medication helped after I used it for a couple of weeks. I stopped using it, and everything was fine for a while, my lower eyelids were back to normal, without that awful wrinkles and puffiness and redness. But in about 10-14 days the problem started again.
Avatar m tn I'm a healthy 27y/o male with a pea size chalazion on lower eyelid for about 4 months. Started out with an infection (puffy, red) - went to the health clinic and was prescribed 5 days doxycycline.. infection improved but chalazion did not... prescribed Abs for another 14 days. No improvement.
Avatar m tn I have a small chalazion on my bottom eyelid for the last 2 months. I went to the doctor who told me it will go away on its own eventually, and it could take up to a year. She then told me to do warm compresses daily. I did that for a few days but I noticed everytime I did the warm compresses the chalazion would get a lot bigger and more noticeable. I found that if I leave it alone and do nothing it stays the same size, but I want it to go away completely.
