tightness in throat and neck

I have the tightness in my throat, it also seems like it goes into my sinuses and face. I do have GERD and some of those other symptoms but they did a thyroid test and said it was fine..maybe I should be getting another one done.

Then I started getting some tightness In the base of my neck/throat and around my Adam’s apple. I went to the doctor he examined my neck didn’t feel anything and he ordered a neck ultra sound and blood test I guess to check my thyroid. Both of those came back normal. Over the last 6 weeks I’ve been having some digestion problems… lose bowels movements… lots of gas ect…. (I am also prescribed 20 mg of Dexedrine).

i have got tightness in the front of my throat some times worse than others. I have a thyroid nodule been and had it tested not cancerous , small 1.5cm doctors very little help . they suggested a few different reasons for throat discomfort .

It feels like there is a tightness or something in the very bottom of my throat -been like this for about 5 days - I do neck exercises where I bend my head back to stretch my neck - could this have irritated something?

My test came negative. Now I have started experiencing tightness in my throat and neck. It is there everyday. I feel as if there is a lump in my throat. Can advise me what is this problem related to ? I also feel though my test came negative but, I do have some thyroid problem. I feel like wearing sweater when I visit mall even during summers, I have too much sensitivity to cold. Please advise. I will be visiting my endocrinologist after 3 weeks from now.

People with thyroid disease are commonly low in B12, iron and D3 vitamins. Low D can cause terrible neck cramping and muscle spasms all over the body. If you do have thyroid disease confirmed, then Selenium (200 strength) once a day helps the swelling as does Motrin.

After speech therapy and vocal training, I was on the road to recovery, but in the last year I have been bothered with tightness in the back of my head, neck and throat. I am a singer and my life has be dramatically altered. I recently had a BRAVO test done to rule our acid reflux. There was very little acid found.

Anyone has any experience of success on tightness and lump in throat. Done all the tests results were negative. Thanks! Any input would help..

So whatever it is runs from around my heart region up my neck and in and around my left eye and my left ear hurts and i have headaches with lots of pressure in my head? Does anyone know anything that i can ask my doctor about because i've seen a couple who really haven't given me much of a good explaination so i don't know? Please help....

Have you been diagnosed with a thyroid disease? Many of us who have Hashi's experience a "fullness" or "tightness" in the neck/throat. Perhaps that's what you're experiencing?

(I did tests for thyroid and is ok) and also I feel tightness in my throat, I have the sensation of a foreign body, I also had trouble breathing and bitter taste. I feel a foreign body on the basis of tongue. As something to pull my tongue back up the neck.(left and right). When I feel me clench my neck I feel something like a wire with thorns with scrapes and causes me to cough. Two years ago I had surgery for Eagle syndrome (right + left) I had a little improvement.

if you are having tightness in your throat, you may be developing a severe reaction to the MSG. I seriously suggest you make sure you avoid MSG as much as you can. You may well get a reaction one day that makes your throat totally close up and then you will need to have a tracheotomy just to breathe.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. A week ago I have unprotected oral sex with a man. He did not ejaculate in my mouth. The very next morning I felt a "tightnes" in my upper neck. The tightness has been persistent ever since. I've looked in the mirror, but can not tell if anything is swollen. If I had to give a yes or no answer to any swelling I would have to say yes. I've read that early symptoms of HIV are swollen glands in the throat.

Well I am worried about it and now the scan question is driving me so crazy and anxious and stress that now I have a tightness in the throat feeling! The clicking feels upper neck, tightness feels low neck like almost to the breast bone low. Has me swallowing almost every minute to see if I can feel it, again also has my throat feeling like its closing. I've had this feeling before from anxiety too so I confused.

He says he feels like someone is pulling the skin in the back of his neck and the skin on the sides of his neck get tight and then he starts gagging. About a week ago he was on antibiotics for 10 days for sore throat and ear ache. But he had this episode last month also and hadnt been sick. For approxiamately one week when taking a deep breath, I have experienced a tightness and pain in my upper chest and throat area. When I drink cold fluids it subsides briefly and when I tighten my abdominal muscles and breath deeply, I don't feel the pain or discomfort. I've been getting this tightness in my neck for the past week and it gets really irritating,it's tense and tight on my left side and sometimes numb idont know if its anxiety related becasue ive had similiar tightness in other parts of my body before due to anxiety. should i get it checked out? -bethany.

If I sit my neck wrong and tighten my muscles something happens in my neck.. it is a pain and it is hurtful to swallow.. it happens a lot and I am wondering if this is a sort of condition.. it causes me pain.. but I can pop it back in to place when I relax my muscles.. it happens involuntarily and I have learned how to control it not happening.. but it still happens every now and again.. anyone can shed light on this that would be great.. cuz I feel like a freak..

I had a total thyroidectomy (papillary cancer was discovered in two nodules) last Wednesday and am experiencing extreme tightness in my throat. In fact, it seemed to become worse yesterday, Sunday. Is this normal? I'm thinking that as the wound heals internally things are starting to tighten up, much the way an external cut might start to tighten as it begins to heal. Any opinions? How long should this sensation last? It's very nerve wracking.
